Optical properties of As2S3-based suspended-core photonic crystal fiber
In this paper, the nonlinear properties of photonic crystal fibers (PCF) with As2S3 substrate were analyzed numerically. With the suspended-core design, we achieve an anomalous dispersion regime with one or two zero-dispersion wavelengths, which is flat and has a small value at the investigated wavelength. The high nonlinear coefficient and very low confinement loss in the wavelength range of 1–3 µm, in comparison with other publications, are the outstanding advantages of these suspended-core PCFs. The highest nonlinear coefficient (28,527.374 W–1·km–1), smallest effective mode area (0.593 µm2), and low confinement loss (6.050 × 10–17 dB·m–1) at the wavelength of 1.55 µm were observed in the PCFs with a fiber diameter of 16.07 μm. Based on the numerical simulation results, we proposed two optimal structures suitable for supercontinuum generation
ViCGCN: Graph Convolutional Network with Contextualized Language Models for Social Media Mining in Vietnamese
Social media processing is a fundamental task in natural language processing
with numerous applications. As Vietnamese social media and information science
have grown rapidly, the necessity of information-based mining on Vietnamese
social media has become crucial. However, state-of-the-art research faces
several significant drawbacks, including imbalanced data and noisy data on
social media platforms. Imbalanced and noisy are two essential issues that need
to be addressed in Vietnamese social media texts. Graph Convolutional Networks
can address the problems of imbalanced and noisy data in text classification on
social media by taking advantage of the graph structure of the data. This study
presents a novel approach based on contextualized language model (PhoBERT) and
graph-based method (Graph Convolutional Networks). In particular, the proposed
approach, ViCGCN, jointly trained the power of Contextualized embeddings with
the ability of Graph Convolutional Networks, GCN, to capture more syntactic and
semantic dependencies to address those drawbacks. Extensive experiments on
various Vietnamese benchmark datasets were conducted to verify our approach.
The observation shows that applying GCN to BERTology models as the final layer
significantly improves performance. Moreover, the experiments demonstrate that
ViCGCN outperforms 13 powerful baseline models, including BERTology models,
fusion BERTology and GCN models, other baselines, and SOTA on three benchmark
social media datasets. Our proposed ViCGCN approach demonstrates a significant
improvement of up to 6.21%, 4.61%, and 2.63% over the best Contextualized
Language Models, including multilingual and monolingual, on three benchmark
datasets, UIT-VSMEC, UIT-ViCTSD, and UIT-VSFC, respectively. Additionally, our
integrated model ViCGCN achieves the best performance compared to other
BERTology integrated with GCN models
The process of developing professional capacity for teachers
The primary aim of Vietnam's new educational program is to enhance students' knowledge and skills through practical learning experiences, enabling them to tackle academic and real-world challenges. However, teachers in Dong Thap province face limitations in their professional competencies. Thus, this study aims to address these issues by examining different models for developing teachers' professional competencies. 1,116 participants participated in this study (258 managers and 868 teachers from high schools and preschools) who completed two questionnaires assessing their professional competence and the perceived importance of professional development. The findings reveal that teachers lack subject knowledge, interdisciplinary understanding and skills in teaching design and assessment. Both school managers and teachers recognize the necessity of professional competence development. A three-step process for enhancing teachers' professional competence is proposed for implementing professional development activities based on these findings
Developing the professional capacity of preschool teachers through pedagogical training activities
The primary purpose of educational programs is to enhance students’ knowledge and skills through pedagogical training activities. However, preschool teachers in Vietnam face limitations in their professional capacity. Thus, this study aimed to address issues by evaluating the level of implementation of pedagogical training activities for preschool education students. The study used a scale for students' pedagogical practice activities to gather quantitative data from 629 participants (managers, lecturers and preschool teachers) in Dong Thap province in Vietnam to assess the extent of implementation of pedagogical training activities for preschool education students. The results showed that preschool teachers may not possess the essential knowledge of pedagogical practices. Pedagogical training uses conventional work-and-activity techniques despite the fact that it prioritizes innovation. Moreover, all school managers, teachers and students recognized the necessity of developing the professional capacity of preschool teachers. These findings illustrate the critical need for revitalizing educational approaches that are consistent with Vietnam's developing preschool teacher professional development context. The present study proposes some measures to innovate pedagogical practice activities in order to meet the requirements for developing the professional capacity of preschool teachers in Vietnam. Such initiatives hold promise for reshaping the educational landscape and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the primary education sector of Vietnam
ARtVista: Gateway To Empower Anyone Into Artist
Drawing is an art that enables people to express their imagination and
emotions. However, individuals usually face challenges in drawing, especially
when translating conceptual ideas into visually coherent representations and
bridging the gap between mental visualization and practical execution. In
response, we propose ARtVista - a novel system integrating AR and generative AI
technologies. ARtVista not only recommends reference images aligned with users'
abstract ideas and generates sketches for users to draw but also goes beyond,
crafting vibrant paintings in various painting styles. ARtVista also offers
users an alternative approach to create striking paintings by simulating the
paint-by-number concept on reference images, empowering users to create
visually stunning artwork devoid of the necessity for advanced drawing skills.
We perform a pilot study and reveal positive feedback on its usability,
emphasizing its effectiveness in visualizing user ideas and aiding the painting
process to achieve stunning pictures without requiring advanced drawing skills.

Variation in Mitochondrial DNA of Vietnamese Pigs: Relationships with Asian Domestic Pigs and Ryukyu Wild Boars
Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequences (574 bp) of 30 Vietnamese pigs (large and small) were examined and compared with those of 61 haplotypes from wild boars and domestic pigs from various locations in Asia. The large Vietnamese pigs had genetic links to Ryukyu wild boars in southern Japan. The small Vietnamese pigs were closely related to other East Asian domestic pigs. These results indicate that Vietnamese pigs are genetically diverse and may be descendents of wild and domestic pigs from other regions of Asia
Study on structure of the Earth’s crust in Thua Thien-Hue province and adjacent areas by using gravity and magnetic data in combination
This paper presents the structural characteristics of the Earth’s crust in Thua Thien-Hue province and adjacent area based on interpretation of gravity and magnetic data in combination. Research results have shown that: The depth of crystalline basement varies complicatedly, in the range of 0–11 km. The depth of Conrad surface increases from Northeast (12 km) to Southwest (18 km) and the depth of Moho surface is 23–34 km; The density of sedimentary layer changes from 2.61 g/cm3 to 2.65 g/cm3. Meanwhile, the density of granitic layer is in the range of 2.68–2.73 g/cm3. The basaltic layer has the density value of 2.88–2.93 g/cm3 and the average density of lower layer of the Earth’s crust is about 3.30 g/cm3; The depth of second-order faults, Red River and A Luoi - Rao Quan, is through the Earth’s crust. Meanwhile, the depth of influence of third-order faults, Chay river, Dong Ha - Phu Vang, Vinh Linh, Hue - Son Tra and Tam Ky - Phuoc Son, is within the thickness of the Earth’s crust
