Bell Ringing Traditions of the Popovtsy Old Believers

Исследование посвящено выделению, фиксации и историческому обоснованию аутентичности старообрядческой традиции колокольного звона, распространенной в странах Юго-Восточной Европы, Америки, Кубанского региона России. Проведен анализ ряда видео- и аудиозаписей колокольного звона в приходах старообрядцев-поповцев Белокриницкой и Новозыбковской иерархий. Впервые выделена традиция колокольного звона старообрядцев. Выдвинута гипотеза о глубоких исторических корнях данной традиции на основе истории расселения и изолированного проживания старообрядцев в эмиграции. Приведены доказательства возможности сохранения данной традиции у староверов в условиях культурной изоляции с конца XVIII века. На основе видеозаписи колокольного звона, характерного для данной традиции, оформлена запись колокольного звона липованской традиции на специализированном нотоносце. Описаны композиционная структура и элементное содержание данного звона, выделены уникальные черты данной традиции. Проведено сравнение музыкально-ритмических и технических особенностей традиции с элементами звона современной академической звонарской школыThe study is devoted to the allocation, fixation, and historical substantiation of the authenticity of the Old Believer tradition of bell ringing, widespread in the countries of Southeast Europe, America, and the Kuban region of Russia. The analysis of a number of video and audio recordings of bell ringing in the parishes of the Old Believers of the Belokrinitskaya and Novozybkovskaya hierarchies is carried out. For the first time, the Old Believers tradition of the bell ringing is highlighted. A hypothesis is put forward about the deep historical roots of this tradition based on the history of settlement and isolated residence of Old Believers in emigration. The proofs of the possibility of preserving this tradition among the Old Believers in conditions of cultural isolation since the end of the 18th century are presented. On the basis of the video recording of the bell ringing characteristic of this tradition, the recording of the Lipovan tradition was made on a specialized staff. The compositional structure and elemental content of this ringing is described, the unique features of this tradition are highlighted.
