Esquisse de la situation linguistique actuelle de Fribourg-en-Brisgau (Allemagne)
This paper will discuss Le Dû and Le Berre's reading of the sociolinguistic situation in Western-Brittany, which is not really applicable to the situation in Freiburg. There is no Freiburg language per se, homogeneous and distinctive, there are only variable speakers. The multiplicity of these variants is nevertheless realised in a monolingual German situation. For this reason, the Freiburg situation does not lend itself in principle to comparison with the bilingual or multilingual situation of societies where several distinct languages have been spoken side by side for several generations, such as French and German in Alsace-Lorraine or French and Breton in Brittany
