Co- and counter-helicity interaction between two adjacent laboratory prominences
The interaction between two side-by-side solar prominence-like plasmas has been studied using a four-electrode magnetized plasma source that can impose a wide variety of surface boundary conditions. When the source is arranged to create two prominences with the same helicity (co-helicity), it is observed that helicity transfer from one prominence to the other causes the receiving prominence to erupt sooner and faster than the transmitting prominence. When the source is arranged to create two prominences with opposite helicity (counter-helicity), it is observed that upon merging, prominences wrap around each other to form closely spaced, writhing turns of plasma. This is followed by appearance of a distinct bright region in the middle and order of magnitude higher emission of soft x rays. The four-electrode device has also been used to change the angle of the neutral line and so form more pronounced S-shapes
Scale Up Sediment Microbial Fuel Cell for Powering Led Lighting
Sediment microbial fuel cells (SMFCs) are expected to be utilized as a sustainable power source for remote environmental observing 30 day's investigations of experiment to understand the long-term performance of SMFCs. The point of this investigation is to increase power generation, 8 individual sediment microbial fuel cells is stacked together either in series or in hybrid connection. Two combinations, of the hybrid connection, are proving to be the more effective one, step-up both the voltage and current of the framework, mutually. Polarization curve tests are done for series and hybrid connected sediment microbial fuel cell. The maximum study state voltage and current are obtained 8.150V and 435.25µA from series and 4.078V and 870.75µA hybrid connected SMFC. Investigation of ion induced bending mechanism for nanostructures
Ion induced bending is a promising controlled technique for manipulating nanoscale structures. However, the underlying mechanism of the process is not well understood. In this letter, we report a detailed study of the bending mechanism of Si nanowires (NWs) under Ga+ irradiation. The microstructural changes in the NW due to ion beam irradiation are studied and molecular dynamics simulations are used to explore the ion–NW interaction processes. The simulation results are compared with the microstructural studies of the NW. The investigations inform a generic understanding of the bending process in crystalline materials, which we suggest to be feasible as a versatile manipulation and integration technique in nanotechnology
Antiasthmatic Effect of Standardized Extract of Ayurvedic Compounds via Nasal Spray Actuation (in Aerosol Form) in Rodents and Its Comparative Clinical Study
AbstractAsthma is one of the most prevalent chronic inflammatory lung disease among children and adults. Morbidity and mortality rate of asthma is raising at the rate of 10% every year inspite of availability of contemperory modern medicines. Studies show that presently majority of world population are using complementory and altenative medicines for the management of bronchial asthma. Ayurveda (Indian system of medicine) is the most popular and widely used alternative medicine. Extensive and proficient researches in the field of Ayurveda validate its efficay in the mangement of chronic diseases including asthma. The present study was designed to search a safe and effective herbal medicine for the treatment of acute attack of Bronchial Asthma and secondary objective to expand the sphere of Ayurvedic medicine by exploring the new possibilities of drug administration techniques.Hydroethanolic extract of both the polyherbal compounds were given through nebulization and their efficacy was assessed. Results showed that all groups treated with Ayurvedic compounds had significant improvent in PFT (pulmonary function test). Cough, Expectoration and ESR is markedly reduced in group treaed with Bharangyadi Ayurvedic Nebulizer whereas Wheezing, frequency of attack and severity of attack on exposure to allergens was significantly (p < 0.001) reduced in group treated with Shirishadi Ayurvedic Nebulizer
Ca & Sr dynamics in the Indogangetic plains: different sources and mobilization processes in northwestern India
The leachable fraction of the sediments from the Thar Desert fringe and the adjacent Ganges alluvial plains, has been studied to determine the sources and the processes responsible for the mobilization of Ca and Sr using Sr isotopes and Ca/Sr ratios. In the desert the leachable fraction of the soil/sediments is probably derived from mixing of old marine carbonates, microfossils with the sea-spray of the Arabian Sea and rainwater. Aeolian reworking of soil carbonates of this mixed origin could have provided the carbonate found at the desert fringe. The sub-humid zone of the Gangetic plains, just outside the desert fringe, has relatively higher 87Sr/86Sr ratios with lower Ca/Sr ratios, indicating silicate weathering as the major contributor of leachable fraction. The spatial geochemical differences could also be related to the ineffectiveness of dust transport and accumulation processes in the humid Ganga plain. The 87Sr/86Sr ratio of the present-day dust leachate from the polluted city of Delhi indicates that its Sr source is petroleum burnt residues
Fractional Order Thermoelastic Deflection in a Thin Circular Plate
In this work, a quasi-static uncoupled theory of thermoelasticity based on time fractional heat conduction equation is used to model a thin circular plate, whose lower surface is maintained at zero temperature whereas the upper surface is insulated. The edge of the circular plate is fixed and clamped. Integral transform technique is used to derive the analytical solutions in the physi-cal domain. The identity of the river along which the famous
Harappan Civilization developed and the causes of the
demise of this culture are topics of considerable debate.
Many of the Harappan sites are located along
the ephemeral Ghaggar river within the Thar Desert
in the northwestern India and adjacent Pakistan. The
Ghaggar was also thought to be the mythical river
Saraswati, which was described as glacial-fed river. Sr
and Nd isotopic composition of the Ghaggar alluvium
as well as Thar Desert sediments suggests a Sub-Himalayan
sediment source, with no contribution from the
glaciated regions. The development of extensive
Harappan Civilization all along the Ghaggar suggests
a catchment with high monsoon rainfall. It is likely
that with the changes in the monsoon scenario after
3500 BC could have gradually dried up the Ghaggar
river and resulted in the migration and/or extinction
of the Harappan Civilization on this river
