A EDUCAÇÃO DE IDOSOS NA VEJA E NA FOLHA DE SÃO PAULO: dados para uma análise crítica
The themes of aging and education are routinely presented in journalistic texts. From this finding, this research aimed to investigate the education of the elderly as news in the magazine Veja and in the newspaper Folha de São Paulo, because it is believed in the power of these media vehicles in the construction of the values and needs of Brazilian society. The results point to a shortage of materials and the silence of the most popular newspapers in the country about the growth of the demand for formal and informal education by the Brazilian elderly, signaling the maintenance of labels and the resistance or indifference to the political, economic and social need of resignify to old age.
About 70 million people have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the world. Children with this disorder have a delay in motor development. In this sense, the objective of the study was to evaluate the motor profile of children with ASD before and after eight weeks of psychomotor intervention in Ubá city, Minas Gerais state. For this, we employed the Motor Development Scale (EDM), as a data collection instrument. Four children diagnosed with ASD, aged between six and nine years, participated in this study. They were evaluated at two times before and after the eight-week psychomotor stimulation program. The results indicated that although there was an increase in the general motor quotient of two participants, however, these were not sufficient to change the motor profile classification.

Gender social relationships in the country side: the country woman and leisure in the beginning of XXIth century in Brazil
This study presents a view on leisure of women in the rural environment in Brazil. With this intuit, an incursion was realized in the literature concerning the leisure study, the ethnography on the country and on woman work in the rural environment and the context of the discussion about gender. Data from the National System on Gender Information and from the Gender, Work and Family research were used to base our observations. In this first approximation was possible to conclude that there are several different possibilities back to the women and men leisure at the rural environment that doesn't change through generations. Before doing a time, or a product to be bought, leisure is lived in the dayby- day, between the work, in the family relationships and in the community.
Effects of high-intensity and progressive volume resistance training on functional, mental states, and quality of life of people with spinal cord injury
ObjectiveTo establish the effect of high-intensity and progressive volume resistance training (HIRT), on general health, functional, mental status, and quality of life (QOL) indicators in people with spinal cord injury (SCI).MethodsThe sample consisted of five people with SCI of both sexes, aged 46.2 +/- 13.9 years, submitted to 12 weeks of HIRT, twice a week. We analyzed before and after the 12 weeks of intervention: body composition, muscle strength, functional status, perception of mental status, and QOL, using the following tests: dual-energy X-ray densitometry, 1RM, isometry of biceps, elbow flexion, Wingate, zigzag, medicine ball pitch, Beck inventory (anxiety, depression, and mental disorder) and SF-36.ResultsThe results pointed to an increase in the training load, the total bone mineral content (p = 0.043), the muscle power at 80% of 1RM (p = 0.043), the functional state (anaerobic power [MD = 6.81%; p = 0.043] and explosive strength [mean difference (MD) = 30.57%; p = 0.043] of the shoulder girdle muscles), the mental state (MD = 71.46%; p = 0.006) and finally, improvement in QOL, especially in the functional (MD = 60.87%; p = 0.006) and social aspects (MD = 44.44%; p = 0.006).ConclusionsHIRT can improve or maintain body composition, developing muscle power, anaerobic power, and explosive strength of the upper limbs that will impact functional capacity, promoting greater autonomy, with consequent reflex in improving mental state and of the QOL of the person with SCI.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Objective: To understand the meaning attached to the operative group technique by mothers that take care of children with disabilities. Methods: Qualitative research with eight mothers who participate in operative groups, whose children are treated
at a specialized program in Minas Gerais. Data were collected through interviews with discursive questions, in 2013, and analyzed using content analysis, interpreted in light of Pichon-Rivière. Results: The study led to the creation of the categories
"Embracement space, exchanges and new meanings" and "Inducing strategy for caring for yourself and your child". The results reveal the importance of the operative group in the daily life of the participants, which highlights the contributions that such
educational practice brings to the care experience of these mothers. Conclusion: The operative group was a care learning tool, which suggests the need for health services to invest in offering group activities for caregivers of people with disabilities.
A consensus protocol for functional connectivity analysis in the rat brain
Task-free functional connectivity in animal models provides an experimental framework to examine connectivity phenomena under controlled conditions and allows for comparisons with data modalities collected under invasive or terminal procedures. Currently, animal acquisitions are performed with varying protocols and analyses that hamper result comparison and integration. Here we introduce StandardRat, a consensus rat functional magnetic resonance imaging acquisition protocol tested across 20 centers. To develop this protocol with optimized acquisition and processing parameters, we initially aggregated 65 functional imaging datasets acquired from rats across 46 centers. We developed a reproducible pipeline for analyzing rat data acquired with diverse protocols and determined experimental and processing parameters associated with the robust detection of functional connectivity across centers. We show that the standardized protocol enhances biologically plausible functional connectivity patterns relative to previous acquisitions. The protocol and processing pipeline described here is openly shared with the neuroimaging community to promote interoperability and cooperation toward tackling the most important challenges in neuroscience
The contribution of a psychomotor stimulation to the process of independence for a visually impaired
This study aimed at developing and implementing a program of psychomotor stimulation process-based orientation and mobility of the visually impaired, since this type of commitment has a direct influence on psychomotor development of the individual, affecting their autonomy and independence. The program was implemented in the Laboratory of Psychomotor Stimulation of the Federal University of Viçosa, with the theoretical basis of Psychomotricity. We chose the intrinsic case study, to observe and evaluate better the difficulties encountered by the technique of systematic observation and informal interviews with parents. One can perceive evolutions in visually handicapped studied in terms equilibrium, concept space and body schema, and also willing to perform activities of daily living, which interfere in their locomotion. We concluded that the process of orientation and mobility is paramount in the work of independence of the visually impaired, and that it is needed a psychomotor development stimulus since the beginning of his life, because the delays that may arise during their growth and maturation. It becomes important to apply qualitative approaches for further studies but with larger samples
Cross-cultural adaptation to the Brazilian Portuguese language of the Waisman Activities of Daily Living (W-ADL) for adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities
Waisman Activities of Daily Living (W-ADL) is a free and brief measure of activities daily living (ADL) for adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities. However, its use is limited in non-English-speaking countries. For this reason, translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation for other languages are needed. Thus, this study aimed to perform a translation and cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the W-ADL from English to Portuguese language. We used a rigorous approach for translating and adapting the scale, which included a committee of six experts to assess content validity. We also conducted interviews with 62 caregivers of people with a medical diagnosis of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or Down syndrome (DS) with different age groups who responded about the person with ASD or DS in their care. Our results include all steps from the translation and cross-cultural adaptation process. Item Content Validity Index showed that items 5 and 16 showed values not acceptable in “relevance” and “theoretical dimension”. On the other hand, the scale content validity index indicated acceptable value. Furthermore, our results showed that our version had acceptable reliability, did not presented floor and ceiling effects, and was able to discriminate subjects from different age groups, as expected. In conclusion, the two versions of the Portuguese version of the W-ADL Scale (15 items and 17 items) demonstrated the acceptable validity and reliability measurement to evaluate ADL for adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities. However, the 15-item version seems to be the best option for Portuguese language speakers
