Observation of complete inversion of the hysteresis loop in a bimodal magnetic thin film
The existence of inverted hysteresis loops (IHLs) in magnetic materials is still in debate due to the lack of direct evidence and convincing theoretical explanations. Here we report the direct observation and physical interpretation of complete IHL in Ni45Fe55 films with 1 to 2 nm thin Ni3Fe secondary phases at the grain boundaries. The origin of the inverted loop, however, is shown to be due to the exchange bias coupling between Ni45Fe55 and Ni3Fe, which can be broken by the application of a high magnetic field. A large positive exchange bias (HEB=14Ă—HC) is observed in the NiFe composite material giving novel insight into the formation of a noninverted hysteresis loop (non-IHL) and IHL, which depend on the loop tracing field range (HR). The crossover from non-IHL to IHL is found to be at 688 Oe
SURVEY OF THE DEPENDENCE ON TEMPERATURE OF THE COERCIVITY OF GARNET-FILMS
The temperature dependence of the domain-wall coercive field of epitaxial magnetic garnets films
has been investigated in the entire temperature range of the ferrimagnetic phase, and has been found
to be described by a set of parametric exponents. In subsequent temperature regions different slopes
were observed, with breaking points whose position was found to be sample dependent. A survey
ba.ed on literature Data as well as on a large number of our own samples shows the general
existence of this piecewise exponential dependence and the presence of the breaking points. This
type of domain-wall coercive field temperature dependence was found in all samples in the large
family of the epitaxial garnets (about 30 specimens of more than ten chemical compositionsj and
also in another strongly anisotropic material (TbFeCo)
Proton Modulation in the Heliosphere for Different Solar Conditions and Prediction for AMS-02
Spectra of Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCRs) measured at the Earth are the
combination of several processes: sources production and acceleration,
propagation in the interstellar medium and propagation in the heliosphere.
Inside the solar cavity the flux of GCRs is reduced due to the solar
modulation, the interaction which they have with the interplanetary medium. We
realized a 2D stochastic simulation of solar modulation to reproduce CR spectra
at the Earth, and evaluated the importance in our results of the Local
Interstellar Spectrum (LIS) model and its agreement with data at high energy.
We show a good agreement between our model and the data taken by AMS-01 and
BESS experiments during periods with different solar activity conditions.
Furthermore we made a prediction for the flux which will be measured by AMS-02

The interplay between malaria vectors and human activity accounts for high residual malaria transmission in a Burkina Faso village with universal itn coverage
Background Mosquito and human behaviour interaction is a key determinant of the maximum level of protection against malaria that can be provided by insecticide-treated nets (ITNs). Nevertheless, scant literature focuses on this interaction, overlooking a fundamental factor for efficient malaria control. This study aims to estimate malaria transmission risk in a Burkina Faso village by integrating vector biting rhythms with some key information about human habits.Methods Indoor/outdoor human landing catches were conducted for 16 h (16:00-08:00) during 8 nights (September 2020) in Goden village. A survey about net usage and sleeping patterns was submitted to half the households (October-December 2020). A subsample of collected specimens of Anopheles gambiae sensu lato was molecularly processed for species identification, Plasmodium detection from heads-thoraxes and L1014F pyrethroid-resistance allele genotyping. Hourly mosquito abundance was statistically assessed by GLM/GAM, and the entomological inoculation rate (EIR) was corrected for the actual ITN usage retrieved from the questionnaire.Results Malaria transmission was mainly driven by Anopheles coluzzii (68.7%) followed by A. arabiensis (26.2%). The overall sporozoite rate was 2% with L1014F estimated frequency of 0.68 (N = 1070 out of 15,201 A. gambiae s.l. collected). No major shift in mosquito biting rhythms in response to ITN or differences between indoor and outdoor catches were detected. Impressive high biting pressure (mean 30.3 mosquitoes/person/hour) was exerted from 20:00 to 06:00 with a peak at 4:00. Human survey revealed that nearly all inhabitants were awake before 20:00 and after 7:00 and at least 8.7% had no access to bednets. Adjusting for anthropological data, the EIR dropped from 6.7 to 1.2 infective bites/person/16 h. In a scenario of full net coverage and accounting only for the human sleeping patterns, the daily malaria transmission risk not targetable by ITNs was 0.69 infective bites.Conclusions The high mosquito densities and interplay between human/vector activities means that an estimated 10% of residual malaria transmission cannot be prevented by ITNs in the village. Locally tailored studies, like the current one, are essential to explore the heterogeneity of human exposure to infective bites and, consequently, to instruct the adoption of new vector control tools strengthening individual and community protection
Stochastic model of hysteresis
The methods of the probability theory have been used in order to build up a
new model of hysteresis. It turns out that the reversal points of the control
parameter (e. g., the magnetic field) are Markov points which determine the
stochastic evolution of the process. It has been shown that the branches of the
hysteresis loop are converging to fixed limit curves when the number of cyclic
back-and-forth variations of the control parameter between two consecutive
reversal points is large enough. This convergence to limit curves gives a clear
explanation of the accommodation process. The accommodated minor loops show the
return-point memory property but this property is obviously absent in the case
of non-accommodated minor loops which are not congruent and generally not
closed. In contrast to the traditional Preisach model the reversal point
susceptibilities are non-zero finite values. The stochastic model can provide a
good approximation of the Raylaigh quadratic law when the external parameter
varies between two sufficiently small values.Comment: 13 pages, 14 figure
