The identification of risk factors associated with perioperative morbidity and mortality allows us to take actions to optimize the condition of patients prior to surgery, thus reducing perioperative morbidity and mortality. A new era in the information for development.‘Planeta Futuro’ and ‘Desalambre’ Spanish cases
The article reflects on the current state of information for world development through the experiences of the news sections ‘Planeta Futuro’ from El País) and ‘Desalambre’ from eldiario.es.

Planeta Futuro, Desalambre and 5W, the consolidation of a journalism specialized in development in Spain
The emergence and consolidation of experiences as Planeta Futuro (El País), Desalambre (el diario.es) and Revista 5w (Colectivo 5w) demonstrate the existence of a journalism specialized in development, in a country with little experience in this field. The reasons, after the accomplishment of interviews semistructured to the persons in charge of the sections (Lola Huete, Gabriela Sánchez and Marta Arías respectively), are threefold: journalists committed and interested in issues dealing with poverty, inequalities and migration as challenges of the 21st century; a public, a community in relation to the environment, and which requires specialized quality information and technological possibilities to provide information more complete and attractive, or even new media models
Learning Sustainability with EPS@ISEP – Development of an Insectarium
8th International Symposium on Project Approaches in Engineering Education (PAEE)Sustainability plays a key role in EPS@ISEP programme - the European Project Semester programme at the School of Engineering of the Polytechnics of Porto. Not just the environmental, but also economical (marketing) and social (ethics) perspectives are explored by multicultural teams during this one semester capstone/internship programme. In 2015, a team of EPS@ISEP students choose to design and develop an insectarium to grow insects for reptile feeding. The team, after exploiting the topic, contemplated growing insects not only for animal feed, but also for human food. Their motivation resulted from the fact that insects, when compared with traditional sources of protein, are more sustainable, i.e., require considerably less resources per kg of protein. This approach, in the current Earth’s population growth scenario, contributes to minimise the resources required for meeting food needs. The main goal of the proposal was to raise the awareness of the participants regarding sustainable development while creating a functional, cost-effective, ecofriendly and attractive prototype. The team, driven by this multidisciplinary problem, performed: (i) a survey of competing products; (ii) a selection of the insect species to grow based on the study and comparison of the life cycle and habitat requirements of different species of insects; (iii) a marketing plan; (iv) a sustainability and an ethic and deontological analysis of the proposed solution; and (v) the design, assembling and testing of the prototype. Furthermore, the students also developed cross-cultural understanding, teamwork and communication skills. The project provided an excellent opportunity to foster the concept of sustainable development amongst the students
Acceptability of Clinical Trials on COVID-19 during Pregnancy among Pregnant Women and Healthcare Providers: A Qualitative Study.
Participation of pregnant women in clinical trials entails challenges mainly related to concerns about the risks for fetuses. We undertook a qualitative study from June to October 2020 to assess the acceptability of participating in COVID-19 clinical trials among pregnant women in Spain. Phenomenology and grounded theory were used as methodological approaches. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 24 pregnant women and six healthcare providers. Women were unsure if pregnancy was a risk factor to acquire the infection or to develop severe disease and expressed the limited information they had received, which led to uncertainties and emotional suffering. They had concerns regarding participation in clinical trials on COVID-19, regardless of the drug under study. Healthcare providers alluded to the importance of involving pregnant women’s relatives at the recruitment visit of the clinical trial. These findings may be useful to facilitate pregnant women’s participation in clinical trials.post-print599 K
