Toward a Trans-textual, Interdisciplinary, Cross-cultural, and Transmodern Community
The current globalization process, intensified by the end of the cold war, has changed the geopolitical map.We no longer live in a world centered on the West as the reference according to which the rest of the world measured its modernity and progress, but in a trans-modern world (if we borrow the expression from Enrique Dussel) where different cultures links with each other through transnational ties. Does this trans-modernity mean that the value of the West has been universalized through th..
Comparison of the Electrical Response of Cu and Ag Ion-Conducting SDC Memristors Over the Temperature Range 6 K to 300 K
Electrical performance of self-directed channel (SDC) ion-conducting memristors which use Ag and Cu as the mobile ion source are compared over the temperature range of 6 K to 300 K. The Cu-based SDC memristors operate at temperatures as low as 6 K, whereas Ag-based SDC memristors are damaged if operated below 125 K. It is also observed that Cu reversibly diffuses into the active Ge2Se3 layer during normal device shelf-life, thus changing the state of a Cu-based memristor over time. This was not observed for the Ag-based SDC devices. The response of each device type to sinusoidal excitation is provided and shows that the Cu-based devices exhibit hysteresis lobe collapse at lower frequencies than the Ag-based devices. In addition, the pulsed response of the device types is presented
Investigation of the Conduction Mechanisms in the Ag- and Cu-Based Self-Directed Channel (SDC) Memristor
A memristor is a two-terminal device that is considered the fourth basic circuit element. Memristors are currently actively researched as a potential device solution for enabling analog non-volatile memory, neuromorphic circuits, and analog computing. It has been proposed that the self-directed channel (SDC) memristor is a type of two-terminal ion-conducting memristive device which uses an in-situ chemical reaction in the active material to create a permanent, non-conductive channel that bridges the active layer. This channel allows Ag+ or Cu+ ion migration when a potential is applied across the device in order to change the device conductivity. In this work, we study the conduction mechanisms of the Ag and Cu-based SDC device types over the temperature range of 5 K to 350 K. This data will assist in developing a compact model that can be used in circuit designs that employ the SDC memristor
Does the Relation Between Humor Styles and Subjective Well-Being Vary Across Culture and Age? A Meta-Analysis
open access articleAn earlier review (Schneider et al., 2018) examined the connection between humor styles and mental health. The present article supplements and extends Schneider et al.'s review by surveying a broader concept, subjective well-being (SWB), and investigating the moderating effects of culture and age. To this end, we collected data from 85 studies, with 27,562 participants of varying ages and cultures. Meta-analysis results indicate that affiliative and self-enhancing humor enhances SWB, whereas aggressive and self-defeating humor damages SWB. Culture and age do not moderate the relation between humor styles and SWB. We discuss implications for better understanding of the relationships among culture, age, humor, and SWB
Mineralized Zones of the Shizhuyuan Ore Field and Their Genetic Relationship with the Qianlishan Granite Complex, NE China: Evidence from Pyrite In Situ Geochemistry
The Shizhuyuan ore field has three mineralized zones around the Qianlishan granite complex with a radius of ~6 km: W-Sn-Mo-Bi (inner zone), Pb-Zn (middle zone), and Hg-Sb (outer zone). However, whether Pb-Zn and Hg-Sb mineralization is genetically related to the Qianlishan granites is still debated. Here, we conducted in situ pyrite trace element analysis to study the combinations and distributions. The Bi concentration gradually decreases from the inner zone to the outer zone, while the Mn and Sb contents show the opposite trend. Pyrites from each zone are distributed in distinct zones in the binary plot of Co/Ni-Bi, which is an effective discrimination diagram indicating the degree of hydrothermal alteration. Collectively, the gradual changes in pyrite trace element characteristics among the three ore-forming zones provide evidence to indicate that these zones probably compose a whole magmatic-hydrothermal system associated with the Qianlishan granite complex
