The Θ+\Theta^+ pentaquark baryon was searched for via the π−p→K−X\pi^-p\to K^-X reaction in a missing-mass resolution of 1.4 MeV/c2c^2(FWHM) at J-PARC. π−\pi^- meson beams were incident on the liquid hydrogen target with the beam momentum of 1.92 GeV/cc. No peak structure corresponding to the Θ+\Theta^+ mass was observed. The upper limit of the production cross section averaged over the scattering angle of 2∘^{\circ} to 15∘^{\circ} in the laboratory frame was obtained to be 0.26 μ\mub/sr in the mass region of 1.51−-1.55 GeV/c2c^2.The upper limit of the Θ+\Theta^+ decay width using the effective Lagrangian approach was obtained to be 0.72 MeV/c2c^2 and 3.1 MeV/c2c^2 for JΘP=1/2+J^P_{\Theta}=1/2^+ and JΘP=1/2−J^P_{\Theta}=1/2^-, respectively.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl

    Search for Λ6^6_\LambdaH hypernucleus by the 6^6Li(π−,K+)(\pi^-,K^+) reaction at pπ−p_{\pi^-} = 1.2 GeV/cc

We have carried out an experiment to search for a neutron-rich hypernucleus, Λ6^6_{\Lambda}H, by the 6^6Li(π−,K+\pi^-,K^+) reaction at pπ−p_{\pi^-} =1.2 GeV/cc. The obtained missing mass spectrum with an estimated energy resolution of 3.2 MeV (FWHM) showed no peak structure corresponding to the Λ6^6_{\Lambda}H hypernucleus neither below nor above the Λ4^4_{\Lambda}H+2n+2n particle decay threshold. An upper limit of the production cross section for the bound Λ6^6_{\Lambda}H hypernucleus was estimated to be 1.2 nb/sr at 90% confidence level.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, published versio

SPring-8 LEPS2 beamline: A facility to produce a multi-GeV photon beam via laser Compton scattering

We have constructed a new laser-Compton-scattering facility, called the LEPS2 beamline, at the 8-GeV electron storage ring, SPring-8. This facility provides a linearly polarized photon beam in a tagged energy range of 1.3--2.4 GeV. Thanks to a small divergence of the low-emittance storage-ring electrons, the tagged photon beam has a size (sigma) suppressed to about 4 mm even after it travels about 130 m to the experimental building that is independent of the storage ring building and contains large detector systems. This beamline is designed to achieve a photon beam intensity higher than that of the first laser-Compton-scattering beamline at SPring-8 by adopting the simultaneous injection of up to four high-power laser beams and increasing a transmittance for the long photon-beam path up to about 77%. The new beamline is under operation for hadron photoproduction experiments

Pole position of Λ(1405)\Lambda(1405) measured in d(K−,n)πΣd(K^-,n)\pi\Sigma reactions

We measured a set of π±Σ∓\pi^\pm\Sigma^\mp, π0Σ0\pi^0\Sigma^0, and π−Σ0\pi^-\Sigma^0 invariant mass spectra below and above the KˉN\bar{K}N mass threshold in K−K^--induced reactions on deuteron. We deduced the SS-wave KˉN→πΣ\bar{K}N\rightarrow\pi\Sigma and KˉN→KˉN\bar{K}N\rightarrow\bar{K}N scattering amplitudes in the isospin 0 channel in the framework of a KˉN\bar{K}N and πΣ\pi\Sigma coupled channel. We find that a resonance pole corresponding to Λ(1405)\Lambda(1405) is located at 1417.7−7.4+6.0^{+6.0}_{-7.4}(fitting errors)−1.0+1.1^{+1.1}_{-1.0}(systematic errors) + [−26.1−7.9+6.0[-26.1^{+6.0}_{-7.9}(fitting errors)−2.0+1.7^{+1.7}_{-2.0}(systematic errors)]ii MeV/c2c^2, closer to the KˉN\bar{K}N mass threshold than the value determined by the Particle Data Group.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

    Search for K−ppK^-pp bound state via γd→K+π−X\gamma d \rightarrow K^+ \pi^-X reaction at Eγ=1.5−2.4E_\gamma=1.5-2.4 GeV

    Get PDF
A search for K−ppK^-pp bound state (the lightest kaonic nucleus) has been performed using the γd→K+π−X\gamma d \rightarrow K^+ \pi^- \rm{X} reaction at Eγ_\gamma=1.5-2.4 GeV at LEPS/SPring-8. The differential cross section of K+π−K^+ \pi^- photo-production off deuterium has been measured for the first time in this energy region, and a bump structure was searched for in the inclusive missing mass spectrum. A statistically significant bump structure was not observed in the region from 2.22 to 2.36 GeV/c2c^2, and the upper limits of the differential cross section for the K−ppK^-pp bound state production were determined to be 0.1−-0.7 μ\mu b (95% confidence level) for a set of assumed binding energy and width values
