Influences of different factors on graphitization

The graphitizability of a carbon depends strongly on its original structure, and the degree of graphitization of carbon is determined chiefly by the highest temperature of heat treatment. However, the time dependence of graphitization has been investigated by several authors, because the kinetic study of graphitization leads to the understanding of the mechanism of graphitization. The atmosphere of graphiti- zation also has some effects on the rate of graphitization. Pressure has been shown to have a marked effect on the graphitization. Many works have been published on the acceleration effect of foreign minerals. In the present review, influences of time, atmosphere, pressure and the presence of foreign minerals are discussed
