Star Wreck
Electroweak models with low-energy supersymmetry breaking predict the
existence of stable non-topological solitons, Q-balls, that can be produced in
the early universe. The relic Q-balls can accumulate inside a neutron star and
gradually absorb the baryons into the scalar condensate. This causes a slow
reduction in the mass of the star. When the mass reaches a critical value, the
neutron star becomes unstable and explodes. The cataclysmic destruction of the
distant neutron stars may be the origin of the gamma-ray bursts.Comment: 9 pages; references adde
Bound states and resonances in the scalar sector of the MSSM
The trilinear couplings of squarks and sleptons to the Higgs bosons can give
rise to a spectrum of bound states with exotic quantum numbers, for example,
those of a leptoquark.Comment: 8 pages, 2 eps figures, latex, epsf; published version (minor changes

Selection of Thematic NL-knowledge from the Internet
The paper deals with methods of choice in the INTERNET of natural-language textual fragments
relevant to a given theme. Relevancy is estimated on the basis of semantic analysis of sentences.
Recognition of syntactic and semantic connections between words of the text is carried out by the analysis of
combinations of inflections and prepositions, without use of categories and rules of traditional grammar.
Choice in the INTERNET of the thematic information is organized cyclically with automatic forming of the new
key at every cycle when addressing to the INTERNET
HERO (High Energy Ray Observatory) optimization and current status
The High-Energy Ray Observatory (HERO) is a space experiment based on a heavy
ionization calorimeter for direct study of cosmic rays. The effective
geometrical factor of the apparatus varies from 12 to 60 msr for protons
depending on the weight of the calorimeter from 10 to 70 tons. During the
exposure for 5 years this mission will make it possible to measure energy
spectra of all abundant cosmic ray nuclei in the knee region (3 PeV) with
individual resolution of charges with energy resolution better than 30\% and
provide useful information to solve the puzzle of the cosmic ray knee origin.
HERO mission will make it also possible to measure energy spectra of cosmic
rays nuclei for energies 1-1000 TeV with very high precision and energy
resolution (up to 3\% for calorimeter 70 tons) and study the fine structure of
the spectra. The planned experiment launch is no earlier than 2029.Comment: LaTeX,25 pages, 19 figure
Visual analysis of droplet dynamics in large-scale multiphase spray simulations
We present a data-driven visual analysis approach for the in-depth exploration of large numbers of droplets. Understanding droplet dynamics in sprays is of interest across many scientific fields for both simulation scientists and engineers. In this paper, we analyze large-scale direct numerical simulation datasets of the two-phase flow of non-Newtonian jets. Our interactive visual analysis approach comprises various dedicated exploration modalities that are supplemented by directly linking to ParaView. This hybrid setup supports a detailed investigation of droplets, both in the spatial domain and in terms of physical quantities . Considering a large variety of extracted physical quantities for each droplet enables investigating different aspects of interest in our data. To get an overview of different types of characteristic behaviors, we cluster massive numbers of droplets to analyze different types of occurring behaviors via domain-specific pre-aggregation, as well as different methods and parameters. Extraordinary temporal patterns are of high interest, especially to investigate edge cases and detect potential simulation issues. For this, we use a neural network-based approach to predict the development of these physical quantities and identify irregularly advected droplets
Dendrochronological Analysis of Wood from the Num-Khibya-Sikheri VIа Site
The article deals with the dendrochronological analysis of the archaeological wood collection from the Num-Khibya-Sikheri VIa site, a burial complex belonging to the Northern Selkup cultural tradition and located on the territory of the Taz Polar region (Tazovskiy district of the YNAO). The dates of the complex existence, obtained within the framework of the tree-ring analysis, fall within the time interval from the second quarter of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. This in turn confirms and significantly supplements the previously discovered archival-recorded evidence of the Selkup fishing farms emergence in the lower Taz (which fall on the upper date limit of the complex). The received lower date of the complex functioning is the earliest proven borderline of the presence of the northern Selkups on the territory of the Taz Arctic
Evaluation of the possibility of obtaining welded joints of plates from Al-Mg-Mn aluminum alloys, strengthened by the introduction of TiB2 particles
In the work, the possibility of obtaining strong welded joints of aluminum alloys modified with particles is demonstrated. For research, strengthened aluminum alloys of the Al-Mg-Mn system with the introduction of TiB2 particles were obtained. TiB2 particles in specially prepared Al-TiB master alloys obtained by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis were introduced ex situ into the melt according to an original technique using ultrasonic treatment. Plates from the studied cast alloys were butt-welded by one-sided welded joints of various depths. To obtain welded joints, the method of electron beam welding was used. Mechanical properties of the studied alloys and their welded joints under tension were studied. It was shown that the introduction of particles resulted in a change in the internal structure of the alloys, characterized by the formation of compact dendritic structures and a decrease in the average grain size from 155 to 95 µm. The change in the internal structure due to the introduction of particles led to an increase in the tensile strength of the obtained alloys from 163 to 204 MPa. It was found that the obtained joints have sufficient relative strength values. Relative strength values reach 0.9 of the nominal strength of materials already at the ratio of the welded joint depth to the thickness of the welded plates, equal to 0.6 for the initial alloy and in the range of 0.67–0.8 for strengthened alloys
