Design and Implementation of a Podcast Recording Studio for Business Communications

    Get PDF
Podcasting is the creation of recorded information and its delivery over the Internet, using web syndication technology. Businesses around the world are increasing their use of podcasts as a means for delivering information to their customers and employees. The purpose of this project paper is to examine the business need for podcasting, and to demonstrate that businesses can assemble an inexpensive recording studio to create podcasts. The review of previous literature included an examination of why podcasting has become important to business communications; how some businesses are currently using podcasting as a communications tool; the technology involved in podcasting; and the tools needed to create podcasts and how web syndication is used to distribute the finished recordings to end users. The paper includes information on the audio recording software that is necessary to record and edit the podcast. Also included is a discussion of the additional audio hardware such as microphones and mixers that are required to record audio. Configuring the equipment in the podcasting studio is described. This includes setting up the computer to be used for recording, attaching the audio mixer to the computer, and connecting the microphone to the audio mixer. The installation of the recording software is also described. The paper concludes with recommendations for businesses to find ways to track the results of podcasts. Also included is a recommendation for further academic study of the uses of podcasting

Engineering Specific Cross‐Links in Nucleic Acids Using Glycol Linkers

One of the most convenient methods for generating oligonucleotides possessing intra‐ or interstrand cross‐links is through incorporation of oligoethylene glycol bridges by solid‐phase synthesis. The reagents are commercially available or can be synthesized in a few easy synthetic steps. Unlike many other DNA and RNA cross‐links, aspects of the structural and thermodynamic impact of modifying nucleic acids with oligoethylene glycols have been studied. This unit covers protection, phosphitylation, and preparation of the glycol linker for oligonucleotide synthesis.Peer Reviewedhttps://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/143621/1/cpnc0503.pd

Lacunary eta quotients with identically vanishing coefficients

For |q|\u3c1 , define fi=∏∞n=1(1−qin) , and let (A(q),B(q)) be any of the pairs (f41,f81f22), (f41,f101f23), (f61,f42f21), (f61,f141f42), (f101,f62f21), (f141,f53f1),(f141,f82f21). For any such pair (A(q),B(q)) , define the sequences {a(n)} and {b(n)} to be the coefficients of qn of A(q) and B(q) , respectively. Then for each pair it is shown that a(n) vanishes if and only if b(n) vanishes. In each case, a criterion is given which states precisely when a(n)=b(n)=0 . Moreover, for the pairs (f261,f93f1) , (f261,f162f61) it is shown that a(n)=b(n)=0 if 12n+13 satisfies a criteria of Serre for a(n)=0

Effect of Nutrition on Resilience in Adults with Childhood Trauma

    Get PDF
While previous studies have shown that healthy nutrition has a positive effect on our physical and emotional well-being (Marsman et al., 2018; Harbottle, 2019), it is unknown whether those benefits extend to individual levels of resilience among those who have suffered childhood trauma. The purpose of this research is to better understand how nutritional habits influence the relationship between childhood trauma and resilience. A Qualtrics survey design was used to collect data related to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), resilience, and nutritional intake, and was sent via email to University of Southern Maine students and faculty of the school of social work, nursing, counseling, psychology, and sociology

The Expression of Gender in Synthetic Actors: Modeling and Motion Control Over Invariant Perceptual Cues Leading to Gender Recognition

    Get PDF
A perception based strategy for communicating the gender of computer animated characters is evaluated. Motivated by the idea that effective character animation involves the expression of character traits through motion, this study builds upon previous work in the areas of computer animation and ecological psychology in an effort to more fully characterize the dynamic information which leads to the perception of gender. Information specifying the masculinity or femininity of a walking figure is considered in relation to the range across which the indexes may be exaggerated and applied to objects not normally considered male or female

On the vanishing of the coefficients of CM eta quotients

    Get PDF
This work characterizes the vanishing of the Fourier coefficients of all CM (Complex Multiplication) eta quotients. As consequences, we recover Serre’s characterization about that of η(12z)2 and recent results of Chang on the pth coefficients of η(4z)6 and η(6z)4 . Moreover, we generalize the results on the cases of weight 1 to the setting of binary quadratic forms
