Cisplatin resistance: models, mechanisms, and modulation
Cisplatin (cis-diamminedichloroplatinum(II)) is one of the most important agents used in clinical oncology. But, although in germ cell tumours 80% cures are achieved with cisplatin containing chemotherapy, most solid tumours are inherently insensitive or become insensitive after an initial response. In order to improve both the fundamental insight and the clinical treatment results, recent studies focused on relevant in vitro models, to elucidate the mechanisms underlying cisplatin resistance, and to try to find a way to (re)gain cisplatin sensitivity. ...
