Role of miR-143 and miR-146 in Risk Evaluation of Coronary Artery Diseases in Autopsied Samples

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a common and fatal cardiovascular disease. Among known CAD risk factors, miRNA polymorphisms, such as Has-miR-143 (rs41291957 C>G) and Has-miR-146a (rs2910164 G>A), have emerged as important genetic markers of CAD. Despite many genetic association studies in multiple populations, no study assessing the association between CAD risk and SNPs of miR-143 and miR-146 was documented in the Japanese people. Therefore, using the TaqMan SNP assay, we investigated two SNP genotypes in 151 subjects with forensic autopsy-proven CAD. After pathological observation, we used ImageJ software to assess the degree of coronary artery atresia. Moreover, the genotypes and miRNA content of the two groups of samples with atresia 10% were analyzed. The results showed that the CC genotype of rs2910164 was more frequent in patients with CAD than in controls, which was associated with the risk of CAD in the study population. However, Has-miR-143 rs41291957 genotype did not show a clear correlation with the risk of CAD

Applying the equations of motion together with corresponding boundary conditions of bulk profiles at infrared and ultraviolet branes, we verify some lemmas on the eigenvalues of Kaluze-Klein modes in framework of warped extra dimension with the custodial symmetry SU(3)c×SU(2)L×SU(2)R×U(1)X×PLRSU(3)_c\times SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R\times U(1)_X\times P_{LR}. Using the lemmas and performing properly analytic extensions of bulk profiles, we present the sufficient condition for a convergent series of Kaluze-Klein excitations and sum over the series through the residue theorem. The method can also be applied to sum over the infinite series of Kaluze-Klein excitations in unified extra dimension. Additional, we analyze the possible connection between the propagators in five dimensional full theory and the product of bulk profiles with corresponding propagators of exciting Kaluze-Klein modes in four dimensional effective theory, and recover some relations presented in literature for warped and unified extra dimensions respectively. As an example, we demonstrate that the corrections from neutral Higgs to the Wilson coefficients of relevant operators for B→XsγB\rightarrow X_s\gamma contain the suppression factor mb3ms/mw4m_b^3m_s/m_{_{\rm w}}^4 comparing with that from other sectors, thus can be neglected safely.Comment: 44 pages, no figur

On the Momentum Dependence of the Flavor Structure of the Nucleon Sea

Difference between the uˉ\bar u and dˉ\bar d sea quark distributions in the proton was first observed in the violation of the Gottfried sum rule in deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) experiments. The parton momentum fraction xx dependence of this difference has been measured over the region 0.02<x<0.350.02 < x < 0.35 from Drell-Yan and semi-inclusive DIS experiments. The Drell-Yan data suggested a possible sign-change for dˉ(x)−uˉ(x)\bar d(x)-\bar u(x) near x∼0.3x \sim 0.3, which has not yet been explained by existing theoretical models. We present an independent evidence for the dˉ(x)−uˉ(x)\bar d(x)-\bar u(x) sign-change at x∼0.3x \sim 0.3 from an analysis of the DIS data. We further discuss the xx-dependence of dˉ(x)−uˉ(x)\bar d(x)-\bar u(x) in the context of meson cloud model and the lattice QCD formulation.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, final versio
