Survey on IoT based Cyber Security Issues and Autonomous Solutions for Implantable Medical Devices
In today’s world the technology has got boomed up to the peak. So as a measure of this technology peak we could see that the enhancement of this has raised very large. This technology booming has also impacted health care sector. In our paper we are going to discuss much on implantable medical devices and its uses which plays a major role in patient’s life. This IMD’s are going to be the life changing aspect of each and every patient. These devices are highly controlled IoT devices (i.e.) those devices are connected through internet which will help doctors to track the details of the patients remotely. On the other hand since all these devices are connected to internet, these are easily hacked by the hackers. The factors of how those devices are much vulnerable and what are all the threats that will make these devices to malfunction and lead a problem to the patients is discussed. And also this will lead the health sector to fall in their reputation. IMD’s are of many types which are in existing in the Medical industry. But we are going to consider some IMD’s as example and we have planned to make a detailed study on the problems on those devices. All these devices are vulnerable since it is connected to internet. So our aim is to completely or partially reduce the risks on those devices via communication network. We have also showcased the possible threats and vulnerabilities chances on those devices. The main scenarios of device control issues and possible solutions have been discussed in this article
Developers strategies for housing redevelopment in Mumbai
Land is a rare commodity in the city of Mumbai. Rapid modernisation, population growth and the linear geography of the city has led the city to grow northwards further pushing the residential locations away from the main city centre. Land regulations and policies have restricted the supply of land available in the inner parts of Mumbai. This has lead to a crisis in the housing supply within the city. The state government has adopted the 'enabling' approach to housing provision. In this context, the government has facilitated Housing redevelopment schemes which enables the private developer to reconstruct an already existing multi-tenement co-operative housing society (C.H.S) to re house the existing owner-occupiers and use the additional F.S.I to construct new apartments in the same building to be sold in the free market. The research focus of the paper is to examine various aspects of Housing Re development from the perspective of the private developer. The study further investigated various strategies employed by the private developer in the face of high levels of competition in a highly potent market. The research paper adopts the 'qualitative method' of research analysis. The analysis suggests that the main concern of the developers is to 'establish and demarcate a local market'
EVALUATION OF PHYTASE PRODUCTION BY HYPOCREA LIXII SURT01 IN SUBMERGED AND SOLID-STATE FERMENTATIONS
Objective: Phytases have important applications in human and animal nutrition because they hydrolyze the phytate present in legumes, cereal grains and oil seeds to release inorganic phosphate. Supplementation of phosphate to the poultry causes a serious problem of eutrophication. This can be reduced by incorporating phytase in poultry feed. Present study explains extracellular phytase production by SmF and SSF from a fungal strain Hypocrea lixii SURT01.
Methods: Extracellular phytase production by Hypocrea lixii SURT01 was evaluated in media containing various refined carbon sources (Fructose, Sucrose, Maltose and lactose in concentration ranging from 1.5% to 7.5%) along with standard medium under submerged fermentation (SmF). At the same time, phytase production was studied under Solid State Fermentation (SSF) with four different substrate such as barley, green gram, bengal gram and black gram.
Results: In SmF out of different carbon sources in various concentrations, 6% sucrose showed maximum enzyme production (245U/ml). In SSF, barley showed highest phytase yield (1638 Units/ml) on 5th day of incubation.
Conclusion: Evaluation of Solid state fermentation showed enhanced phytase production when compared to Submerged Fermentation
University small satellite program-ANUSAT
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) over the last 3 decades has steadily progressed towards establishment of space system for communication, Earth observation and disaster warning for national development. Also, the launchers for placing both Earth observation and communication satellites have been developed. While these efforts are being sustained on a continuous basis, ISRO initiated Small Satellite Program few years ago for demonstration of new technologies that can be adopted to operational mission as well as Small Satellite Earth Observation program to complement the existing earth observation mission. Also realizing the importance of steady flow of engineers and scientists in Space Technology, ISRO has been pursuing to promote development of micro-satellite at Indian universities that will provide hands-on experience to the university students in Space Technology and also developing new technologies for the future. Anna University at Chennai, India, has taken up the first micro-satellite program within the university environment. The micro-satellite development will be carried out at Aerospace Research Centre in Anna University with review and funding support from ISRO. The project will be implemented through involvement of students, researchers and faculty staff. The satellite is a simple spinning satellite carrying store and forward payload being the first mission and weighs less than 50 kg. The Project has commenced in January 2002. The preliminary design review of the satellite has been completed in December 2002. The micro-satellite is scheduled for launch in 2005 as an auxiliary payload in ISRO's launcher PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle)
Evaluation of a Cold Staining Method for Acid-Fast Bacilli in Sputum
Comparison between the Ziehl-Neelscn staining method for acid-fast bacilli, applied with and
without heating, was carried out in a controlled investigation using smears prepared from 306
sputum samples collected prior to treatment from suspected cases of pulmonary tuberculosis.
Smear and culture positively were graded and the colour intensity of bacilli recorded. Results
showed that the chance corrected agreement (Kappa) between Z-N and cold methods was only
78%. The sensitivity of the Z-N and cold methods were 84% and 77% respectively when
compared with culture results. Assuming 10% smear positivity among symptomatics reporting to
Peripheral Health Institutions (PHIs), the positive predictive value of the cold method was very
low(53%). When compared to culture, the positive predictive value is 71% for the Z-N method
and 57% for the cold method for a symptomatic population with 15% culture positivity.
In the absence of heating. penetration of the stain was significantly reduced and consequently
the number of bacilli detected was less. The inability to take the stain without heating was seen in
smears from all grades of culture positive samples: thus even heavy positives were missed by the
cold method. The evaluation of the cold method against the standard Z-N method highlights its
limitations and demonstrates that it is not as reliable as the standard Z-N method
Patronin-mediated minus end growth is required for dendritic microtubule polarity.
Microtubule minus ends are thought to be stable in cells. Surprisingly, in Drosophila and zebrafish neurons, we observed persistent minus end growth, with runs lasting over 10 min. In Drosophila, extended minus end growth depended on Patronin, and Patronin reduction disrupted dendritic minus-end-out polarity. In fly dendrites, microtubule nucleation sites localize at dendrite branch points. Therefore, we hypothesized minus end growth might be particularly important beyond branch points. Distal dendrites have mixed polarity, and reduction of Patronin lowered the number of minus-end-out microtubules. More strikingly, extra Patronin made terminal dendrites almost completely minus-end-out, indicating low Patronin normally limits minus-end-out microtubules. To determine whether minus end growth populated new dendrites with microtubules, we analyzed dendrite development and regeneration. Minus ends extended into growing dendrites in the presence of Patronin. In sum, our data suggest that Patronin facilitates sustained microtubule minus end growth, which is critical for populating dendrites with minus-end-out microtubules
Increased pump acceptance bandwidth in spontaneous parametric downconversion process using Bragg reflection waveguides
In this paper we show that by suitably tailoring the dispersion
characteristics of a Bragg reflection waveguide (BRW) mode, it is possible to
achieve efficient photon pair generation over a large pump bandwidth while
maintaining narrow signal bandwidth. The structure proposed consists of a high
index core BRW with a periodically poled GaN core and periodically stratified
cladding made up of alternate layers of and
. Such photon-pair generators should find applications in
realizing compact and stable sources for quantum information processing.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Generation of polarization entangled photons using type-II doubly periodically poled lithium niobate waveguides
In this paper, we address the issue of the generation of non-degenerate
cross-polarization-entangled photon pairs using type-II periodically poled
lithium niobate. We show that, by an appropriate engineering of the
quasi-phase-matching grating, it is possible to simultaneously satisfy the
conditions for two spontaneous parametric down-conversion processes, namely
ordinary pump photon down-conversion to either extraordinary signal and
ordinary idler paired photons, or to ordinary signal and extraordinary idler
paired photons. In contrast to single type-II phase-matching, these two
processes, when enabled together, can lead to the direct production of
cross-polarization-entangled state for non degenerate signal and idler
wavelengths. Such a scheme should be of great interest in applications
requiring polarization-entangled non degenerate paired photons with, for
instance, one of the entangled photons at an appropriate wavelength being used
for local operation or for quantum storage in an atomic ensemble, and the other
one at the typical wavelength of 1550 nm for propagation through an optical
fiber.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures, 2 table
