    Air Quality-Related Health and Environmental Trade-off of Electrification: Evidence from Vietnam

    Abundant evidence has shown that expanding access to electricity dramat- ically widens access to education, healthcare, and equality. However, the liter- ature on the direct impacts of electrification on air quality and health is still in its infancy. While electricity access can lead to higher outdoor air pollution due to increased reliance on fossil fuel combustion, its usage lowers indoor air pollution as households switch from burning solid fuels to using electricity and become distanced from the source of pollution. Contributing to the nascent lit- erature, this article represents the first quantitative examination of this trade- off between the overall emission level and the degree of population exposure to pollution due to electrification. The study draws on the representative Vietnam Household Living Standards Surveys to examine environmental and health out- comes and estimates a satellite-based measure of commune electrification rate using the DMSP/OLS nighttime satellite images and Landscan population grid. I find that although electrification increases the probability that air pollution is among the most pressing environmental issues in a commune, it reduces the probability that a commune reports air quality-related illnesses as one of its top three main health concerns. Thus, as hypothesized, this paper presents ev- idence that electrification alleviates air pollution-related health problems even as it worsens outdoor air quality

    Efficient Finetuning Large Language Models For Vietnamese Chatbot

    Large language models (LLMs), such as GPT-4, PaLM, and LLaMa, have been shown to achieve remarkable performance across a variety of natural language tasks. Recent advancements in instruction tuning bring LLMs with ability in following user's instructions and producing human-like responses. However, the high costs associated with training and implementing LLMs pose challenges to academic research. Furthermore, the availability of pretrained LLMs and instruction-tune datasets for Vietnamese language is limited. To tackle these concerns, we leverage large-scale instruction-following datasets from open-source projects, namely Alpaca, GPT4All, and Chat-Doctor, which cover general domain and specific medical domain. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first instructional dataset for Vietnamese. Subsequently, we utilize parameter-efficient tuning through Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) on two open LLMs: Bloomz (Multilingual) and GPTJ-6B (Vietnamese), resulting four models: Bloomz-Chat, Bloomz-Doctor, GPTJ-Chat, GPTJ-Doctor.Finally, we assess the effectiveness of our methodology on a per-sample basis, taking into consideration the helpfulness, relevance, accuracy, level of detail in their responses. This evaluation process entails the utilization of GPT-4 as an automated scoring mechanism.     NUTRIENT RECOVERY AND POLLUTANT REMOVAL FROM PIGGERY WASTEWATER BY SPIRULINA CULTIVATION

    Spirulina is noticed for great applications on food supplements, animal feeds, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, biofuel, fertilizer, etc. Spirulina cultures in wastewaters could enhance the feasibility of commodities due to its ability to reduce the cost of biomass production and remove pollutants in wastewaters. This study investigates the effects of wastewater pretreatment using various aeration periods (i.e. from 3 to 7 days), the supplement of bicarbonate and N:P ratios on the growth of Spirulina sp. HH to produce protein-rich biomass. The work showed that Spirulina sp. had the ability to effectively remove ammonium, with the highest efficiencies up to 99.9 %. However, the high concentration of ammonium in wastewater, from 125 mg N/L upward, caused a decline in the growth rate of Spirulina. The growth and remediation potential of Spirulina sp. were in the best condition with the N:P ratio of the medium in the range of 19:1-22:1. This study suggested a procedure to cultivate Spirulina sp. in piggery wastewater and remove pollutants efficiently

    Robust Adaptive Control of 3D Overhead Crane System

    In this chapter an adaptive anti-sway controller for uncertain overhead cranes is proposed. The system model including the system uncertainties and disturbances is introduced firstly. Next, the adaptive controller which can guarantee tracking the desired position of the trolley as well as the anti-sway of the load cable is established. In this chapter, the system is proven to be input-to-state stable (ISS) which is supported by Lyapunov technique. The proposed algorithm is verified by using Matlab/Simulink simulation tool. The simulation results shown that the presented controller gives the good performances (i.e., fast transient response, position tracking, and low swing angle) when there exist system parameters variation as well as input disturbances

    AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE COMMON ERRORS OF WORD FORM USED IN WRITING OF THE FRESHMEN: A CASE STUDY

    English has been used all across the world, including in Vietnam. From middle school to high school and even university, Vietnamese students have numerous opportunities to engage with English grammar, but there is still a significant gap between their understanding and the correct application of English grammar. In fact, Grammar has a significant impact on the writing skills of Vietnamese students in general, and especially the first-year students of English majors who were not much exposed to writing in high school, so they are not yet used to writing at a higher level. The majority of errors in their writings are due to the influence of their mother tongue and a lack of frequent practice and their misuse of word forms, as a matter of fact, the expected results have not been satisfactory. Based on the general insight into the writing competence of the freshmen, the study titled “An investigation into the common errors of word forms made in the writings of the freshmen: A case study” was done with the English-major students. A close survey was deliberately done with 142 paragraphs written by the first-year students to investigate the common errors of word forms made in their writings. From what was collected, the study subsequently offered some suggestions for helping the students improve their writing skills.  Article visualizations

    The mediating role of passion in entrepreneurship intention: Identity centrality and role models increase passion

    Entrepreneurial passion is the key to starting a business. Passion motivates desire so that entrepreneurs strive to achieve success. Passion is not only the experience of intense emotions but also a part of identity centrality. On the other hand, an individual’s entrepreneurial decisions can be influenced by the opinions and behaviors conveyed by others and a person's career ambitions can be significantly stimulated if they have a role model. The role model, in addition to inspiration, also plays an important role in helping individuals learn to identify themselves so entrepreneurial role models impart entrepreneurial passion for individuals to shape entrepreneurial intentions. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating role of passion in both relationships: between entrepreneurial identity centrality and entrepreneurship intention as well as between the entrepreneurial role model and entrepreneurship intention. The study is a quantitative research, data is surveyed in a single time collected from a population. 531 questionnaires are distributed to young people who are studying and working in Ho Chi Minh City and has the intention to start-up their own business. The findings of the research show that both above relationships are significantly mediated by passion. The research could support the theory of distal and proximal antecedence that influence entrepreneurship intention for students

    Study change of the performance of airfoil of small wind turbine under low wind speed by CFD simulation

    Renewable energy has received strong attention and investment to replace fossil energy sources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Quite good and good wind speed areas have been invested in building large-capacity wind farms for many years. The low wind speed region occupies a very large on the world, which has been interested in the exploitation of wind energy in recent years. In this study, the original airfoil of S1010 operated at low wind speed was redesigned to increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the airfoil by using XFLR5 software. After, the new VAST-EPU-S1010 airfoil model was adjusted to the maximum thickness and the maximum thickness position. It was simulated in low wind speed conditions of 4-6 m/s by CFD simulation. The lift coefficient, drag coefficient and CLC_{L}/CDC_{D} coefficient ratio were evaluated under the effect of the angle of attack and the maximum thickness by using the kϵk-\epsilon model. Simulation results show that the VAST-EPU-S1010 airfoil achieved the greatest aerodynamic efficiency at the angle of attack of 3\,^{\circ}, the maximum thickness of 8\% and the maximum thickness position of 20.32\%. The maximum value of CLC_{L}/CDC_{D} of the new airfoil at 6 m/s is higher than at the 4 m/s by about 6.25\%.Comment: 19 pages, 21 figure

    Structural and Optical Properties of Samples SrTi1x_{1-x}Mx_{x}O3_3 (M = Co, Ni) Synthesized by Sol-gel Method

    By sol-gel method, we synthesized SrTi1x_{1-x}Mx_{x}O3_3 (M = Co, Ni; x = 0.0; 0.1; 0.2; 0.3; 0.4; 0.5) nano particles and investigated structure of Raman spectrum, absorption spectra, structural diagram of energy area and their density of states. The results showed that the average size of nanoparticles was about 10-30 nm. Absorption edge of each sample depended on the content of substitution of Co, Ni.  Besides, the content of ion substitution also had influence on the structure, Raman  spectrum, structural diagram of energy area  and state density of samples. The results indicated that Co and Ni ions were substituted for position of Ti in the net cell, which changed structure of the material and reduced band gap of the synthesized materials and increases its conductivity
