    No full text
This paper focuses on Enterprise Project Management (EPM), its benefits and how to apply it in a project management framework. We have studied the ABC Faucet Company in terms of company\u27s project management practices, and where they are today and where they could be in the future. Our methodology for compiling this paper was to analyze the ABC Faucet\u27s current project management strategy, then compare and contrast it with concepts suggested in the EMGT 51 OPMF Project Management Framework class and the textbooks Applied Project Management and Strategic Plmming for Project Management Maturity Model by Harold Kerzner, Ph.D. One of the goals of this paper is to describe and explain how ABC Faucet could achieve excellence and maturity in their projects and its management. As stated by Kerzner, Projects are critical to the success of any organization. They are the activities that result in new or change products, services, environments, and result in many other benefits. [I) We have applied his Project Management Maturity Model (PMMM), as well as a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats model (SWOT) for our analysis and recommendations. We conclude that organizational communication and organizational culture plays an important role for achieving excellence in projects and its management As stated in Kermer\u27s text, People equally informed seldom disagree. (2]1t is also impOrtant to mention here, that there are many ingredients available to cre-ate a specific recipe for achieving excellence in project management based on the ABC\u27s culture and objectives. Therefore, it is safe tO say that to consider the approach: one size fits all in project management , is a mistake and could lead into fai1ure in project managemen

    Nurse Scheduling for KSMC

Abstract: Kaiser Permanente is America\u27s largest not-for-profit health maintenance organization, serving 8.1 million members in 9 states and the District of British Columbia. One of the main challenges of such organizations is the scheduling of nurses at their various locations in a way that matches the patient needs and the staffing of the nursing personnel. This has to be done in a way that it promotes quality and appropriateness of care within budgetary boundaries. Because the nursing salaries make up the largest single element in hospital costs, effective scheduling of nursing is very important in order to control the health care cost at same time satisfying the patient needs. Our report explains the Nurse Scheduling project that was for Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center. We mainly focus on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). We review their current model and then come up with a new model which if implemented could result in considerable saving for KSMC, while also satisfying their constraints and requirements. The model is also flexible and efficient in its implementation compared to the earlier manual process. We have used the Solver tool from Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program for the implementation of our project
