MPS degeneration formula for quiver moduli and refined GW/Kronecker correspondence

    Get PDF
Motivated by string-theoretic arguments Manschot, Pioline and Sen discovered a new remarkable formula for the Poincare polynomial of a smooth compact moduli space of stable quiver representations which effectively reduces to the abelian case (i.e. thin dimension vectors). We first prove a motivic generalization of this formula, valid for arbitrary quivers, dimension vectors and stabilities. In the case of complete bipartite quivers we use the refined GW/Kronecker correspondence between Euler characteristics of quiver moduli and Gromov-Witten invariants to identify the MPS formula for Euler characteristics with a standard degeneration formula in Gromov-Witten theory. Finally we combine the MPS formula with localization techniques, obtaining a new formula for quiver Euler characteristics as a sum over trees, and constructing many examples of explicit correspondences between quiver representations and tropical curves.Comment: 31 page

Numerical approximation of table functions on the basis of multidimensional optimization methods for modeling physics and technics problems

    Get PDF
The aim of the article is to present an approximation method based on multidimensional optimization methods which does not require preliminary information about the derivatives of the approximating function. It is proposed to use a combination of the grid method, coordinate descent method and the golden section method to solve the task of optimizing the objective function (standard deviation in the nodes of the tabular function). The considered example of the approximation of the flight trajectory of a body in the atmosphere illustrates the comparability of the results of the proposed method and the least squares method

The Influence of Various Factors on the Progress in Training of International Learners of the Preparatory Department (on the Example of the Course "Computer Science")

The task of research different factors affecting on the progress in training of students is actual. Two main factors as training the course in native language and knowledge of the language in which the course is studied were considered to solve this problem. The research is aimed at learners of the Preparatory Department studying in a non-native language (Russian) and takes into account the characteristics of such contingent of students. The study was made in the course "Computer science" with the help of methods of mathematical statistics. This research was conducted to improve the methods and to change the approaches in teaching the pre-university programs

Long-term benefits of EPs® 7630 in patients with acute sinusitis: a real-world cohort study

Background: We evaluated whether EPs® 7630 prescription in patients with acute sinusitis (AS) is associated with less frequent recurrence of AS, occurrence of chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps, or fewer antibiotic prescriptions. Methods: This retrospective cohort study used electronic medical records from the IQVIA Disease Analyzer database. Associations between initial therapy [EPs® 7630, antibiotics, intranasal corticosteroid (INCS), or corticosteroid-free nasal spray within 3 days of AS diagnosis] and AS recurrence, incidence of chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps or rate of antibiotic prescription were studied using multivariable Cox or logistic regression models, adjusting for sex, age, insurance status, month of diagnosis, and comorbidity. Results: A total of 216,360 patients were analyzed. INCS prescription was associated with a higher risk of recurrent AS (HR: 1.40; 95% CI: 1.01–1.92) and a higher incidence of chronic sinusitis or nasal polyp diagnosis (HR: 1.39; 95% CI: 1.01–1.92) compared to EPs® 7630. Initial antibiotic therapy was significantly associated with higher risk of new antibiotic prescription in the period of 31–365 days after the index date compared to EPs® 7630 (OR: 2.20; 95% CI: 1.66–2.92).Conclusion: EPs® 7630 prescription is associated with long-term benefits in AS patients. EPs® 7630 can help to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use and might reduce the risk of chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps

Transcatheter closure of Fontan fenestrations using the Amplatzer septal occluder: Initial experience and follow-up

We have recently used the Amplatzer septal occluder to close Fontan fenestrations. Between June 1998 and December 1999, 13 patients underwent transcatheter occlusion of their Fontan fenestrations. Systemic blood flow decreased significantly without a concomitant decrease in pulmonary blood flow. All residual shunts detectable by oximetry were at sites separate from those into which occlusion devices were implanted. One patient developed severe tricuspid regurgitation following the procedure requiring surgical removal of the device. At the last follow-up, all patients were doing well clinically. There were no shunts detectable through or around the devices by echocardiography. Our experience indicates that the location of the fenestration within the Fontan baffle is critical to avoiding device interference with other intracardiac structures. The Amplatzer septal occluder offers an effective means of transcatheter closure of Fontan baffle fenestrations. Although more experience is needed, our current follow-up data suggest that long-term outcomes will be favorable. Cathet. Cardiovasc.
