    Dealing With Non-Performing Loans During The Bank Restructuring Process in Vietnam: Assessment Using The AHP and TOPSIS Methods

    This article aims to assess the solutions that have been implemented in Vietnam to deal with non-performing loan(s) (NPLs) in the banking system. By trying to build evaluation criteria through a literature review and an expert survey, as well as using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), this research measures the effectiveness of the resolution of NPLs in Vietnam through many factors. The empirical results show that, in the past, the banking system in Vietnam has not dealt very well with bad debt, as it mostly uses traditional methods such as NPL write-offs by loan loss reserves or the liquidation of collateral. Based on our consideration of the NPLs’ resolutions that the Vietnamese banking system has implemented recently, we propose some suggestions to improve the necessary conditions for applying more market-based solutions, such as debt-equity swaps and securitization to thoroughly resolve the NPLs in Vietna

    NMR and Raman spectroscopic study of as-sprayed coatings and coatings incubated in simulated body fluid

    Hydroxylapatite (HA) is a frequently used bioceramic material for replacement of bone matter subjected to low loading conditions, for osseoconductive coatings on implants and for utilisation as a drug carrier. Plasma spraying is widely used to coat hydroxylapatite onto titanium alloys in hip endoprostheses. However, the high temperature of the plasma jet changes the crystallinity and decomposes hydroxylapatite. This affects in turn its bioconductivity. In this study, HA was coated onto Ti6Al4V substrates by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). Also, a bionert TiO2 bond coat was applied between the HA coating and the titanium alloy. By means of some sensitive analytical techniques, notably nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Raman spectroscopy, the structural decomposition of HA during plasma-spraying and the in vitro reconstruction mechanisms of distorted (oxy)hydroxylapatite to well-ordered hydroxylapatite were investigated.     The antioxidant activity in vitro of methanol extract of Archidendron clypearia was evaluated by in vitro tests on isolated liver cells of mouses with ED50 value ​​ of 2.18 μg/mL compared to that of curcumin of 1.87 µg/mL. Using combined chromatographic methods, four compounds were isolated from chloroform extract of the Archidendron clypearia. Their structures were elucidated to be daucosterol, 1-octacosanol, docosenoic acid, and methyl gallate by 1D- and 2D-NMR spectroscopic methods and in comparison with those reported in the literature. This is the first report of these compounds from the plant. All four compounds showed quite high antioxidant activity, for which methyl gallate was the highest one

    Synthesis and cytotoxic activity of madecassic acid–silybin conjugate compounds in liver cancer cells

    A series of 14 conjugates of 2α,3β,23-triacetyl-madecassic acid and silybin were designed and synthesized. The madecassic acid unit was linked to silybin either directly at position C-7 or C-3; or through an amino acid linker (glycine, β-alanine, or 11-aminoundecanoic acid) at position C-3. The conjugates were tested in vitro for their cytotoxic effect on HepG2 cells using the MTT assay. The results confirmed that the conjugated compounds demonstrated a stronger cytotoxic effect compared to the parent compounds. Of these compounds, the most promising conjugate, compound 8, was evaluated for cytotoxic activity in the additional Hep3B, Huh7, and Huh7R human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines and also for cell cycle changes and induction of apoptosis in HepG2 cells. This compound caused a rapid and significant induction of caspase 3 activity and induced cell cycle arrest in the S phase – effects distinct from the activity of madecassic acid. This is the first study on the synthesis and cytotoxicity of madecassic acid–silybin conjugates, and of their testing against liver cancer cell lines and provides evidence for a distinct biological profile versus madecassic acid alone

    FATTY ACID COMPOSITION AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF CAMELLIA NINHII SEED OIL COLLECTED IN LAM DONG PROVINCE

    The seed oil of Camellia ninhii was studied for the first time on its fatty acid composition by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and antioxidant activity by the DPPH method. The results show that unsaturated fatty acids account for the largest amount, especially oleic acid with 45.43% of the total sample analyzed. In addition, other fatty acids, palmitic, linoleic, pentadecanoic, and two aromatic acids, benzoic and cinnamic, were present. The sample of C. ninhii seed oil exhibited mild antioxidant activity against DPPH free radicals with IC50 = 0.94 mg/mL

    Feng shui jewelry is not only a fashion product, but also a part of lifestyle, bringing Gen Z youth in Hanoi cultural, spiritual values and profound meanings.In order to examine the feng shui jewelry consumption trends of young generation Z people in Hanoi city, the research team conducted this study. Through the results of the study, it can be seen that among those who know about feng shui jewelry, the number of people who have ever bought/used feng shui jewelry is only 46.8%. People who do not buy/use for documented reasons such as simply not liking to use it, feng shui jewelry needs to be preserved carefully and thoroughly, many people around have not used it, or using it requires sophistication, complexity...The number of people who have not yet used it and will buy and use it in the near future is still small. The frequency of using feng shui jewelry among young people is only at a normal level. Meanwhile, the favorite feng shui jewelry product is feng shui stone bracelets, followed by stone pendants. With the trend of simple, compact designs and reasonable prices being the top priorities when choosing products for young people. The main reason for young people to use feng shui jewelry is to attract fortune, luck, ward off bad luck, and be chosen as a gift. Many young people also agree that feng shui jewelry will bring fortune, luck and have a positive impact on health... so most of those who have bought/used it will intend to continue buying and using it
