Objectives: The aim of the study was to study the morbidity pattern and burden among the elderly residing in the field practice area of Rural Health Training Centre Mandawar. The aim of the study was to identify the various factors associated with morbidity among the study population. Assessment of the morbidity profile will help in the application of interventions, to improve the health status and the quality of life of the elderly. Methods: Therefore, a total of 880 elderly were selected. Multiple house visits were done and data were collected by interviewer method, observation, and clinical examination of the study population. Diagnosis of the disease was made on the basis of history, investigations, clinical examination, and treatment report. Statistical analysis was done using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences 25 trial version. Results: Out of 880 elderly, 83.9% belonged to the age group of 60–74 years, the majority (87.4%) were found to be Hindus, 44% lived in three generation families. The most of the elderly were illiterate (46.7%) and the majority (44.2%) belonged to class IV socio-economic status. The morbidity load was 2370. The average morbidity per person was 1.56. The majority of the elderly (32%) had two morbidities. Visual impairment was the most common morbidity and it was more common in males. The association of morbidity was found to be statistically significant with gender, age category, and financial status. Conclusion: The present study revealed that the prevalence of morbidity among the elderly is very high

A prospective study to estimate the outcome of patellar fracture fixation with suture material of high resistance properties

Background: Patella fractures make from 0.5% to 1.5% of all bone fractures.  The most common fracture type, transverse fracture, impairs knee extension mechanics due to fragment displacement. In the years that followed, newer procedures were pursued in order to alleviate the aforementioned difficulties. K-wires were successfully replaced with cannulated screws. Furthermore, cerclage wiring was replaced with alternative implants without jeopardising the figure-of-eight tension band build. Methods: A prospective study was conducted over a period of 18 months to evaluate the outcome of patellar fractures fixation with newer techniques and sutures. The study had 35 participants. Results: This study included patients in the age group of 21-77 years. Among the total of 35 patients in the study, Maximum number of patients in our study were in the age range of 41-60 years which comprised 42.86%.  In this study of 35 patients, 20 were male patients and 15 patients were female i.e. 57.14% of our study group comprised of male patients while 42.86% comprised of female patients. Conclusions: The above study clearly demonstrates that the high resistance suture materials can be used as a potential alternative or may even be better to the existing prevalent fixation of patella fractures with stainless steel and wires. Fibertape fixation presents a lot of advantages over the traditional stainless steel and wire fixation. Biomechanically, fibertape has demonstrated tensile strength and stiffness equal to stainless steel and in certain specific parameters proved even more stronger than the stainless steel

ABSTRACT  Background : Poor socioeconomic level, an unsanitary living environment, and the caregiver's behaviour are all associated to the severity of childhood diarrhoea. The goal of this study is to identify the risk factors and financial costs related with diarrhoea in children under the age of five. Methods :Between July 2021 and March 2022, a convenience sampling case-control research with 105 cases and 105 controls was conducted in Jhalawar.  Results :Diarrhoea was linked to younger caretakers, a lack of formal education, a lack of awareness, merely washing hands with water, and quitting nursing. Poor economic position, having a family of five or more, being crowded, having a pet, drinking unsafe water, not having a hygienic toilet, disposing of rubbish in an unhealthy manner, and eating street vendor cuisine are all linked to diarrhoea. Conclusion: the risk factors for diarrhoea under 5 years of age still presents in Jhalaware. Environmental factors and hygienic practice are needed to control under 5 diarrhoea.  Keywords: Diarrhoea; risk factors; Under- 5 children; underprivileged&nbsp

Background & Aims: Social media/mobile mass communications, while providing an unprecedented capacity for the masses to communicate, has also been a major drivers in the rise of fringe opinions very damaging to public health. Reconciling principles of freedom of speech with the usage of social media for damaging falsehoods remains a conundrum for nations. Hence it was desired to conduct a study with objective of determining the influence of social media on the perception of COVID-19 vaccine. Materials & Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted from May - July 2021 (duration three months) on those who gave consent and were eligible for vaccination according to the guidelines by ICMR (Indian council of medical research) and GOI (Government of India) Result: The majority of study participants 76.7% were aware of covid appropriate behaviour and preventive measures and around 61.8% of participants were aware of covid vaccination. The vast majority of the participants stated that they had obtained information about vaccinations (61.8%). The preferred method for acquiring information was social media (56.6%), followed by community health workers (15.6%), media-internet/news/television (15.3%) and very little importance to national guidelines through miking, pamphlets (5.6%). Conclusion: The impact of social media on the influence of covid vaccination was very disturbingly negative as a vast majority of study participants 60.7% tried to convince people to avoid vaccines after hearing about adverse events following vaccination through the social media platform
