3-D Kinematics of Water Masers in the W51A Region
We report proper motion measurements of water masers in the massive-star
forming region W51A and the analyses of the 3-D kinematics of the masers in
three maser clusters of W51A (W51 North, Main, and South). In W~51 North, we
found a clear expanding flow that has an expansion velocity of ~70 km/s and
indicates deceleration. The originating point of the flow coincides within 0.1
as with a silicon-monoxide maser source near the HII region W~51d. In W51 Main,
no systematic motion was found in the whole velocity range (158 km/s =< V(lsr)
=< -58 km/s) although a stream motion was reported previously in a limited
range of the Doppler velocity (54 km/s =< V(lsr) =< 68 kms). Multiple driving
sources of outflows are thought to explain the kinematics of W51 Main. In W51
South, an expansion motion like a bipolar flow was marginally visible. Analyses
based on diagonalization of the variance-covariance matrix of maser velocity
vectors demonstrate that the maser kinematics in W51 North and Main are
significantly tri-axially asymmetric. We estimated a distance to W51 North to
be 6.1 +/- 1.3 kpc on the basis of the model fitting method adopting a radially

VLBI Monitoring Observations of Water Masers Around the Semi-Regular Variable Star R Crateris
We monitored water-vapor masers around the semi-regular variable star R
Crateris with the Japanese VLBI Network (J-Net) at the 22 GHz band during four
epochs with intervals of one month. The relative proper motions and
Doppler-velocity drifts of twelve maser features were measured. Most of them
existed for longer than 80 days. The 3-D kinematics of the features indicates a
bipolar expanding flow. The major axis of the asymmetric flow was estimated to
be at P.A. = 136 degrees. The existence of a bipolar outflow suggests that a
Mira variable star had already formed a bipolar outflow. The water masers are
in a region of apparent minimum radii of 1.3 x 10^12 m and maximum radii of 2.6
x 10^12 m, between which the expansion velocity ranges from 4.3 to 7.4 km/s.
These values suggest that the water masers are radially accelerated, but still
gravitationally bound, in the water-maser region. The most positive and
negative velocity-drifting features were found relatively close to the systemic
velocity of the star. We found that the blue-shifted features are apparently
accelerated and the red-shifted apparently decelerated. The acceleration of
only the blue-shifted features seems to be consistent with that of the

Application of Purified Botulinum Type A Neurotoxin to Treat Experimental Trigeminal Neuropathy in Rats and Patients with Urinary Incontinence and Prostatic Hyperplasia
Type A neurotoxin (NTX) of Clostridium botulinum was purified by a simple procedure using a lactose gel column. The toxicity of this purified toxin preparation was retained for at least 1 year at −30°C by supplementation with either 0.1% albumin or 0.05% albumin plus 1% trehalose. When purified NTX was used to treat 49 patients with urinary incontinence caused by either refractory idiopathic or neurogenic detrusor overactivity, 36 patients showed significant improvement in symptoms. These beneficial effects were also observed in cases of prostatic hyperplasia. The results obtained with NTX were similar to that of Botox. The effects of NTX on trigeminal neuralgia induced by infraorbital nerve constriction (IoNC) in rats were also studied. Trigeminal ganglion neurons from ipsilateral to IoNC exhibited significantly faster onset of FM4-64 release than sham-operated contralateral neurons. Intradermal injection of NTX in the area of IoNC alleviated IoNC-induced pain behavior and reduced the exaggerated FM4-64 release in trigeminal ganglion neurons
A complex rearrangement between APC and TP63 associated with familial adenomatous polyposis identified by multimodal genomic analysis: a case report
Genetic testing of the APC gene by sequencing analysis and MLPA is available across commercial laboratories for the definitive genetic diagnosis of familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). However, some genetic alterations are difficult to detect using conventional analyses. Here, we report a case of a complex genomic APC-TP63 rearrangement, which was identified in a patient with FAP by a series of genomic analyses, including multigene panel testing, chromosomal analyses, and long-read sequencing. A woman in her thirties was diagnosed with FAP due to multiple polyps in her colon and underwent total colectomy. Subsequent examination revealed fundic gland polyposis. No family history suggesting FAP was noted except for a first-degree relative with desmoid fibromatosis. The conventional APC gene testing was performed by her former doctor, but no pathogenic variant was detected, except for 2 variants of unknown significance. The patient was referred to our hospital for further genetic analysis. After obtaining informed consent in genetic counseling, we conducted a multigene panel analysis. As insertion of a part of the TP63 sequence was detected within exon16 of APC, further analyses, including chromosomal analysis and long-read sequencing, were performed and a complex translocation between chromosomes 3 and 5 containing several breakpoints in TP63 and APC was identified. No phenotype associated with TP63 pathogenic variants, such as split-hand/foot malformation (SHFM) or ectrodactyly, ectodermal dysplasia, or cleft lip/palate syndrome (EEC) was identified in the patient or her relatives. Multimodal genomic analyses should be considered in cases where no pathogenic germline variants are detected by conventional genetic testing despite an evident medical or family history of hereditary cancer syndromes
Infective endocarditis with Lactococcus garvieae in Japan: a case report
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p><it>Lactococcus garvieae </it>is a well-recognized fish pathogen, and it is considered a rare pathogen with low virulence in human infection. We describe the 11th case of <it>L. garvieae </it>infective endocarditis reported in the literature, and the first reported case in Japan.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>We report a case of a 55-year-old Japanese woman who had native valve endocarditis with <it>L. garvieae</it>. The case was complicated by renal infarction, cerebral infarction, and mycotic aneurysms. After anti-microbial treatment, she was discharged from the hospital and is now well while being monitored in the out-patient clinic.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>We encountered a case of <it>L. garvieae </it>endocarditis that occurred in a native valve of a healthy woman. The 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing was useful for the identification of this pathogen. Although infective endocarditis with <it>L. garvieae </it>is uncommon, it is possible to treat high virulence clinically.</p
Association of variations in HLA class II and other loci with susceptibility to EGFR-mutated lung adenocarcinoma
Lung adenocarcinoma driven by somatic EGFR mutations is more prevalent in East Asians (30-50%) than in European/Americans (10-20%). Here we investigate genetic factors underlying the risk of this disease by conducting a genome-wide association study, followed by two validation studies, in 3,173 Japanese patients with EGFR mutation-positive lung adenocarcinoma and 15,158 controls. Four loci, 5p15.33 (TERT), 6p21.3 (BTNL2), 3q28 (TP63) and 17q24.2 (BPTF), previously shown to be strongly associated with overall lung adenocarcinoma risk in East Asians, were re-discovered as loci associated with a higher susceptibility to EGFR mutation-positive lung adenocarcinoma. In addition, two additional loci, HLA class II at 6p21.32 (rs2179920; P =5.1 × 10(-17), per-allele OR=1.36) and 6p21.1 (FOXP4) (rs2495239; P=3.9 × 10(-9), per-allele OR=1.19) were newly identified as loci associated with EGFR mutation-positive lung adenocarcinoma. This study indicates that multiple genetic factors underlie the risk of lung adenocarcinomas with EGFR mutations
35. Studies of the Thermal State of the Earth. The 16 th Paper : Terrestrial Heat Flow in the Japan Sea(1)
Terrestrial heat flow has been determined at 30 localities in the Japan Sea. The average value of observed heat flow, 2.03×10-6cal/cm2 sec is higher than the world average. Though the heat flow is generally high the following features seem to exist; (a) a zone of slightly low values (1.8-2.0×lO-6cal/cm2 sec) runs in the middle of the Japan Sea roughly parallel to the Japanese island arc; (b) a region with heat flow less than 1.5×1O-6cal/cm2sec exists north of the Sado Island. However, these observations must be tested with further data. Possible effect of annual variation of bottom water temperature on the observed heat flow was examined. When the amplitude of the annual variation is 0.02℃, the expected disturbance is about 0.1×10-6cal/cm2sec.日本海の地殼熱流量観測は舞鶴海洋気象台観測船「清風丸」により着手され,1964年日本海のほぼ全域に亘り30点の観測を行なつた.その平均値は2.03μcal/cm2secという異常に高い値であるが,日本列島に沿つて日本海中央部を走る他の部分よりやや低い熱流量を示す地帯,佐渡ケ島東北方のほぼ陸上の平均値に近い地域などの微細構造が見られるようである.より立入つた議論は1965年の諸種の観測結果を待つものであるが,日本海高熱流量のある程度の部分は新第三紀以降の火山活動によつてまかなわれうるかも知れない
