Spectroscopic studies and thermal analysis of lead(II) and tin(II) solid complexes with bi- , tri- and tetradentate Schiff bases
The Schiff base complexes of Pb(II) and Sn(II) with bidentate (NO), [M(sal-An)2] (sal-An = aniline salicylideneiminato); tridentate (ONO), [M(sal-OAP)H2O)] (sal-OAP = ortho- aminophenol salicylideneiminato); and tetradentate (N2O2), [M(sal-o-phdn)] (sal-o-phdn = N,N'-o-phenylene bis(salicylideneiminato) have been synthesized. The infrared spectra were recorded and full assignments of all observed bands have been made. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetric (TG) for all complexes were also carried out. The data obtained indicate that the complexes of both bi- and tetradentate ligands are decomposed in one stage, but the complexes of tridentate are decomposed in two steps. Spectrophotometric and Thermal Studies of the Reaction of Iodine with Nickel(II) Acetylacetonate
The reaction of iodine (acceptor) and nickel(II) acetylacetonate (donor) was studied photometrically in different solvents such as chloroform, dichloromethane and carbon tetrachloride at room temperature. The results indicate the formation of a 1: 1 charge-transfer complex in each solvent and the iodine complex is formulated as the triiodide species [Ni(acac)2]2I+.I3-, based on the characteristic electronic absorptions of the I3- ion at 361 and 285 nm, as well as on the far infrared absorption bands characteristic of the I3- ion with C2v symmetry. These bands are observed at 132, 101 and 84 cm-1 and are assigned to na(I-I), ns(I-I) and d(I3-), respectively. The values of the equilibrium constant (K), absorptivity (e) and oscillator strength (f) of the iodine complex are shown to be strongly dependent on the type of solvent used. The important role played by the solvent is suggested to be mainly due to the interaction of the ionic complex with the solvent. The proposed structure of the new solid triiodide charge-transfer complex reported in this study is further supported by thermal and mid-infrared measurements.

Synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activities of some 5-bromouracilmetal ion complexes
Six new complexes, [Mn(Br-U)2(H2O)2]×4H2O (1), [Cd(Br-U)2]×2H2O (2), [Cu(Br-U)2(H2O)2]×2H2O (3), [Co(Br-U)2(H2O)2]×4H2O (4), [Ni(Br-U)2(H2O)2]×4H2O (5) and [Ag(Br-U)(Br-U-H)]×2(H2O) (6) were prepared by the reaction of 5-bromoouracil with MnCl2·4H2O, CdCl2·2.5H2O, CuSO4·5H2O, (CH3COO)2Co·4H2O, (CH3COO)2Ni·4H2O and AgNO3 respectively. The complexes were characterized by melting point, elemental microanalyses, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The obtained data indicated that the ligand interacted with the metal ions in its mononegatively charged enol form in a bidentate fashion. Thermogravimetric analyses (TGA and DTG) were also carried out. The data obtained agreed well the proposed structures and showed that the complexes were finally decomposed to the corresponding metal or metal oxide. The ligand and its metal-ion complexes were tested for their antimicrobial activities against four bacterial strains (B. subtillis, S. aureus, E. coli and P. aeruginosa) by the agar-well diffusion technique using DMSO as a solvent. The obtained data showed that the complexes were more potent antimicrobial agents than the parent ligand. In this study, we investigate the effectiveness of compassion-focused Techniques integrated Mobile Technology implemented to improve the sense of coherence among visually impaired students. The study sample comprised six students (three males and three females) with an average age of 14.30 years and a standard deviation of 1.06. study tools included a sense of coherence scale developed by Al Sadiq and Abbady (2020) and a compassion-focused therapy program specifically designed by the researchers. The results showed statistically significant differences in the average ranks of visually impaired students in the experimental group between pre-measurement and post-measurement on the Sense of Coherence Scale, favoring the post-measurement after the implementation of the therapeutic program. No statistically significant differences were found in the average scores of visually impaired students in the experimental group between post-measurement and follow-up measurements on the Sense of Coherence Scale after implementing the therapeutic program
Mobile Technological Forecasting and its Relationship to Added Scientific Value from the Perspective of Faculty Members in Saudi Universities
The current study aims to identify the degree of academic freedom practice and its relationship to the added scientific value and mobile technological forecasting from the perspective of faculty members in Saudi universities. To achieve this goal, a random sample of 23 faculty members from King Khalid University was selected from various specializations. A questionnaire was prepared to determine the extent of academic freedom exercised, the scale of scientific value added, and the scale of technological forecasting. The mean, standard deviation, and linear regression analyses were also used to analyze the research results. The results revealed that faculty members’ practice of academic freedom was average, while scientific value added and technological forecasting were high. The results also indicated the potential to predict the exercise of academic freedom through rapid access to information, financial resources, and technological forecasting
Safety and Feasibility of Simultaneous Ipsilateral Proximal Carotid Artery Stenting and Cerebral Aneurysm Coiling
Coexistence of cerebral aneurysm and carotid artery disease may be encountered in clinical practice. Theoretical increase in aneurysmal blood flow may increase risk of rupture if carotid artery disease is treated first. If aneurysm coiling is performed first, stroke risk may increase while repeatedly crossing the diseased artery. It is controversial which disease to treat first, and whether it is safe to treat both simultaneously via endovascular procedures. We document the safety and feasibility of such an approach. Review of collected neurointerventional database at our institution was performed for patients who underwent both carotid artery stenting (CAS) and aneurysm coil embolization (ACE) simultaneously. All patients underwent carotid stenting followed by aneurysm coiling in the same setting. Demographic, clinical data, and outcome measures including success rate and periprocedural complications were collected. Five hundred and ninety aneurysms coiling were screened for patients who underwent combined CAS and ACE. Ten patients were identified. Mean age was 67.7 years (range 51–89). The success rate for stenting and coiling was 100% with no immediate complications. The coiling procedure time was extended by an average of 45 min for performing both procedures jointly. No stroke, TIAs, or aneurysmal rebleeding was found on their most recent follow up. Our case series demonstrates that it is safe and feasible to perform CAS and ACE simultaneously as one procedure which may avoid unwanted risk of treating either disease at two separate time sessions
Mobile Technology and University Climate: Impact on Academic Well-Being
This study explores the complex relationship between mobile technology, perceived university climate quality (PUCQ), and their combined impact on predicting students’ academic subjective well-being (ASW) at King Khalid University (KKU). The research aimed to identify the nature of the correlation between the PUCQ and ASW and to verify the degree of the relative contribution of the PUCQ in predicting ASW among KKU students. To achieve the objectives of the study, a descriptive approach was employed, incorporating both correlational and comparative methods. The researchers prepared a measure of PUCQ and a measure of ASW for university students. The research sample consisted of 134 students, with an equal split of 67 males and 67 females, whose ages ranged from 18 to 45 years. They belonged to various programs at KKU. Pearson’s correlation coefficient, simple regression analysis using the Enter method, and multiple regression analysis using the stepwise method were employed for data processing. The results of the study revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between the PUCQ and the values of citizenship. In addition, the PUCQ in its three dimensions contributes to predicting ASW among the research sample. In an era dominated by mobile technology, understanding its role is pivotal for creating a positive and supportive academic environment at King Khalid University
