Estimation of the Critical Size of Hailstones in Clouds non Prejudiced to Agriculture in Kakheti

    No full text
Using the Zimenkov-Ivanov model of hail melting in the atmosphere and modern data on the level of zero isotherm in Kakheti (Georgia), the critical size of hailstones in clouds that are not harmful to crops in the conditions of this region was estimated (almost complete melting of hailstones near the earth’s surface at altitudes 250, 500, 750 and 1000 m). The calculations were performed for the average ten-day values of the heights of the zero isotherm from April to October. In particular, it was found that the critical size of hailstones in clouds, almost completely melting near the surface of the earth at an altitude of 1000 m and 250 m, respectively, varies from 0.73 to 0.92 cm for the first decade of April and from 1.43 to 1.60 cm for the second decade of August

Results of a study of the impact of climate change on the level of zero isotherm in Kakheti are presented. To do this, a statistical analysis of data on monthly average maximum air temperatures was carried out for six points of Kakheti (Telavi, Sagarejo, Kvareli, Gurjaani, Dedoplistskaro and Lagodekhi) from 1956 to 2015, as well as data on the height of the zero isotherm over the studied region from 1958 to 1961 and from 2012 to 2016. In particular, it was obtained that from 1956 to 2015 in Kakheti, at almost all six points in June and August, climate warming took place. In July, September and October an increase in the maximum air temperature is noted in the majority points. Accordingly, from June to October over the study area in 2012-2016, compared with 1958-1961, there was an increase in the height of the zero isotherm within 71-442 m. During May changes in the values of maximum air temperature in 1958-2015 is not observed, the height of the zero isotherm in this month in the second period decreased by 260 m. In all months, except June, into 2012-2016 in comparison with 1958-1961 an increase in the values of vertical gradient of air temperature is noted

Data on the Height of Zero Isotherm and Isotherm of -6 °C in the Atmosphere Above the Territory of Shida Kartli (Georgia) During the Anti-Hail Season

In the work the data of statistical analysis of the daily and monthly average values of the height of zero izotherm and isotherm -6°C above the territory of Shida Kartli (Gori) for the period from 1 April to 31 October 2016 is presented. The results of the work will find practical application in the organization of the anti-hail system in this regio

Analysis of Strong Precipitation in Tbilisi on August 29, 2023

    No full text
Precipitation of more than 100 mm per day falls very rarely in Tbilisi (several cases in the last 120 years). On August 29, 2023, this incident repeated itself. In this work an analysis of this rare phenomenon for Tbilisi is presented

Statistical Characteristics of the Monthly Average Values of the Air Temperature in the Layer of Atmosphere 0.54-27 km above the Kakheti Territory (Georgia) in 2012-2016

The data of statistical analysis of the monthly average values of the air temperature in the atmosphere above the territory of Kakheti at 19 levels in the range of heights from 0.54 to 27 km for the period from 2012 through 2016 are represente

Statistical analysis of the daily wind speed in Tbilisi in 1971-2016

The results of the detailed statistical analysis of the daily mean and max wind speed for Tbilisi from January 1, 1971 to December 31, 2016 are presented. In the studied period of time, the range of changes in the average daily wind speed was 0 - 14.9 m/s, and the maximum - up to 41.0 m/s. The repeatability of the average daily and maximum wind speed in Tbilisi on the Beaufort Wind Scale was obtained. In particular, it was found that the repeatability of the maximum wind speed covers the entire Beaufort scale. At the same time, the scale range of 8 and more (17.2-20.7 m/s, gale and above, the onset of destructive processes in the environment and their intensification) accounts for about 6.5% of cases (about 24 days a year). During the entire period of research with hurricane wind 3 cases were recorded (Beaufort scale range - 12, hurricane, wind speed >32.6 m/s, devastating destruction). For separate months and according to annual data, correlation and regression relationships between daily and average monthly values of the mean and max wind speed were studied

Some results statistical analysis of the daily mean (Wmean) and max (Wmax) wind speed for Tbilisi from January 1, 1971 to December 31, 2020 are presented. In 1971-2020 annual mean of Wmean was 1.5 m/sec, and Wmax - 9.1 m/sec. In 1996-2020 compared with 1971-1995 annual mean of Wmean increased by 0.8 m/sec, and Wmax - by 0.3 m/sec. Intraannual distribution of monthly average of daily mean and max wind speed Tbilisi in 1971-2020 has the form of a sixth power polynomial. Regression equations were obtained for the relationship between the repetition of mean daily and maximum wind speed in Tbilisi with the central points of wind speed on the Beaufort Wind Scale

Results of modeling of the distribution of hailstones by mean max diameter (D) on the territories of municipalities of the Kakheti region of Georgia using data of the freezing level in the atmosphere and radar measurements of hail max sizes in clouds are presented. Data about D on the territories of municipalities of the Kakheti region for individual months, from April to September, are presented. The vertical distribution of D on the indicated territories was studied
