Artificial and Natural Topic Detection in Online Social Networks

    Get PDF
Online Social Networks (OSNs), such as Twitter, offer attractive means of social interactions and communications, but also raise privacy and security issues. The OSNs provide valuable information to marketing and competitiveness based on users posts and opinions stored inside a huge volume of data from several themes, topics, and subjects. In order to mining the topics discussed on an OSN we present a novel application of Louvain method for TopicModeling based on communities detection in graphs by modularity. The proposed approach succeeded in finding topics in five different datasets composed of textual content from Twitter and Youtube. Another important contribution achieved was about the presence of texts posted by spammers. In this case, a particular behavior observed by graph community architecture (density and degree) allows the indication of a topic strength and the classification of it as natural or artificial. The later created by the spammers on OSNs

Foreign investment and the Brazilian real estate market

This article discusses the main aspects of the Brazilian real estate market in order to illustrate if it would be attractive for a typical American real estate investor to buy office‐building portfolios in Brazil. The article emphasizes: [i] — the regulatory frontiers, comparing investment securitization, using a typical American REIT structure, with the Brazilian solution, using the Fundo de Investimento Imobiliário — FII; [ii] — the investment quality attributes in the Brazilian market, using an office building prototype, and [iii] ‐ the comparison of [risk vs. yield] generated by an investment in the Brazilian market, using a FII, benchmarked against an existing REIT (OFFICE SUB‐SECTOR) in the USA market. We conclude that investing dollars exchanged for Reais [the Brazilian currency] in a FII with a triple A office‐building portfolio in the São Paulo marketplace will yield an annual income and a premium return above an American REIT investment. The highly aggressive scenario, along with the strong persistent exchange rate detachment to the IGP‐M variations, plus instabilities affecting the generation of income, and even if we adopt a 300‐point margin for the Brazil‐Risk level, demonstrates that an investment opportunity in the Brazilian market, in the segment we have analyzed, outperforms an equivalent investment in the American market. The Garrano is a semi-feral horse breed native to several mountains in the northern Iberian Peninsula. Despite being endangered, this unique breed of pony has managed to survive in the wild and continues to be selectively bred, highlighting their remarkable resilience and adaptability to harsh environments. Wildlife plays a critical role in the survival of tick vectors in their natural habitats and the transfer of tick-borne pathogens, as they can serve as reservoir hosts for many agents and amplifiers for these vectors. The semi-feral lifestyle of the Garrano horses makes them particularly vulnerable to exposure to numerous tick species throughout the year. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence of Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, Babesia, Theileria, and spotted fever rickettsiae in the Garrano horse ticks to obtain a knowledge of circulating agents in this host population. The collected ticks (n = 455) were identified as Rhipicephalus bursa. DNA specimens were organized in pools of 5 ticks, for molecular screening. Pools PCR results confirmed the presence of Candidatus Rickettsia barbariae (n = 12 for the ompB gene, n = 11 for the ompA gene and n = 6 for the gltA gene), Babesia bigemina (n = 1), Babesia caballi (n = 3), Theileria equi (n = 15) and Theileria haneyi (n = 1).These results confirm the circulation of an emerging rickettsial spotted fever group member, Candidatus R. barbariae, in R. bursa ticks. Our findings demonstrated that Candidatus R. barbariae co-circulates with B. bigemina and T. equi, which are vectored by R. bursa. We are reporting for the first time, the detection of T. haneyi among R. bursa ticks feeding in the Garrano horses in Portugal. Surveillance studies for tick-borne infections are essential to provide information that can facilitate the implementation of preventive and control strategies. © 2024This study was financially supported by the Research and Innovation Office of the higher education and polytechnic cooperative (GI2-CESPU_ESURVTBD_GI2-CESPU_2022 project)

The purpose of this updating manuscript is to briefly describe the profile, clinical use and indication of some of the most used sedative and hypnotic compounds. About 2/3 of all hypnotic prescriptions go to chronic use. Benzodiazepines are among the most prescribed drugs worldwide. Women, elderly, psychiatric and medical disease patients are among chronic users of hypnotics. Zolpidem is now the most prescribed hypnotic in most countries. It appears to be safer, compared to benzodazepines, and might be an option for long-term and controlled use (as needed). Sedative antidepressants are also among the most prescribed drug for sedation in insomnia patients in USA and UK. Sedative effect and use of trazodone, mirtazapine, doxepine, amitryptilin are described. The authors also discuss the use of melatonin and its sleep properties, and the rational use of sedative antipsychotics for chronic insomnia, particularly in psychiatric patients.

Comparing Concept Drift Detection with Process Mining Software

    Get PDF
Organisations have seen a rise in the volume of data corresponding to business processes being recorded. Handling process data is a meaningful way to extract relevant information from business processes with impact on the company's values. Nonetheless, business processes are subject to changes during their executions, adding complexity to their analysis. This paper aims at evaluating currently available process mining tools and software that handle concept drifts, i.e. changes over time of the statistical properties of the events occurring in a process. We provide an in-depth analysis of these tools, comparing their differences, advantages, and disadvantages by testing against a log taken from a Process Control System. Thus, by highlighting the trade-off between the software, the paper gives the stakeholders the best options regarding their case use

Classical Density Functional Theory Reveals Structural Information of H2 and CH4 Fluids Adsorbed in MOF-5

This study employs classical Density Functional Theory (cDFT) to investigate the adsorption isotherms and structural information of H2 and CH4 fluids inside MOF-5. The results indicate that the adsorption of both fluids is highly dependent on the fluid temperature and the shape of the MOF-5 structure. Specifically, the CH4 molecules exhibit stronger interactions with the MOF-5 framework, resulting in a greater adsorbed quantity compared to H2. Additionally, the cDFT calculations reveal that the adsorption process is influenced by the fluid-fluid spatial correlations between the fluid molecules and the external potential produced by the MOF-5 solid atoms. These findings are supported by comparison with experimental data of adsorbed amount and the structure factor of the adsorbed fluid inside the MOF-5. We demonstrate the importance of choosing the appropriate grid size in calculating the adsorption isotherm and the fluid structure factors within the MOF-5. Overall, this work provides valuable insights into the adsorption mechanism of H2 and CH4 in MOF-5, emphasizing the importance of considering the structural properties of the adsorbed fluids in MOFs for predicting and designing their gas storage capacity at different thermodynamic conditions.Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures, 2 supplementary movies, Published in Fluid Phase Equilibria Journa
