A global economic integration zone in Central Europe? Vienna-Bratislava-Györ as a laboratory for EU territorial cohesion policy

    No full text
Central Europe is facing dramatic changes and huge challenges since the 40 years closed borders opened up. As part of central Europe the Vienna-Bratislava-Gyor area that straddles Austria, Hungary and Slovakia, faces new opportunities for co-operation and integration. The book gives a fascinating view of the practice of European policy making on transnational level by reflecting on how far this area is a laboratory for EU territorial cohesion policy. Different ways of conceptualising and revealing the potential of space on a transnational level are investigated. In addition it tries to explore how the polycentric region is dealing with its territorial potential in order to play through co-operation at a higher league in the competition of places as a core of a possible Global Economic Integration Zone in Central Europe.Technology, Policy and Managemen
