Invariant and polynomial identities for higher rank matrices
We exhibit explicit expressions, in terms of components, of discriminants,
determinants, characteristic polynomials and polynomial identities for matrices
of higher rank. We define permutation tensors and in term of them we construct
discriminants and the determinant as the discriminant of order , where
is the dimension of the matrix. The characteristic polynomials and the
Cayley--Hamilton theorem for higher rank matrices are obtained there from
Mass dependence of vector meson photoproduction off protons and nuclei within the energy-dependent hot-spot model
We study the photoproduction of vector mesons off proton and off nuclear
targets. We work within the colour dipole model in an approach that includes
subnucleon degrees of freedom, so-called hot spots, whose positions in the
impact-parameter plane change event-by-event. The key feature of our model is
that the number of hot spots depends on the energy of the photon--target
interaction. Predictions are presented for exclusive and dissociative
production of , , and off protons, as
well as for coherent and incoherent photoproduction of off nuclear
targets, where Xe, Au, and Pb nuclei are considered. We find that the mass
dependence of dissociative production off protons as a function of the energy
of the interaction provides a further handle to search for saturation effects
at HERA, the LHC and future colliders. We also find that the coherent
photonuclear production of is sensitive to fluctuations in the

Cooper pairs as bosons
Although BCS pairs of fermions are known not to obey Bose-Einstein (BE)
commutation relations nor BE statistics, we show how Cooper pairs (CPs),
whether the simple original ones or the CPs recently generalized in a many-body
Bethe-Salpeter approach, being clearly distinct from BCS pairs at least obey BE
statistics. Hence, contrary to widespread popular belief, CPs can undergo BE
condensation to account for superconductivity if charged, as well as for
neutral-atom fermion superfluidity where CPs, but uncharged, are also expected

Diet of Common buzzard (Buteo buteo) (Linnaeus, 1758) in an area of Northwestern Spain as assessed by direct observation from blinds
Accuracy of raptor diet assessments can vary depending on the technique employed. In the available studies
in Spain, the Common buzzard (Buteo buteo) shows a diverse and non-specialized diet, reflecting local and
seasonal variation in the prey availability. This study reports information on the diet of the Common buzzard in
an area of Northwestern Spain, on the basis of direct observation during 308 h. of four nests from blinds. The
delivery prey rate to the nest was of 0.49 ± 0.04 items per hour. From a total of 145 prey delivered to the nests,
64.7% could be determined to the taxonomic level of class, 34.5% to the levels of species, genus or suborder
and a 34.5% were undetermined prey items. Mammals and reptiles were the most frequent preys in their diet,
while amphibians and birds were much less frequent. These results obtained are in agreement with those from
previous studies carried out in the North of Spain based on other assessments raptor diet techniques
Phase-Covariant Quantum Benchmarks
We give a quantum benchmark for teleportation and quantum storage experiments
suited for pure and mixed test states. The benchmark is based on the average
fidelity over a family of phase-covariant states and certifies that an
experiment can not be emulated by a classical setup, i.e., by a
measure-and-prepare scheme. We give an analytical solution for qubits, which
shows important differences with standard state estimation approach, and
compute the value of the benchmark for coherent and squeezed states, both pure

Universal field equations for metric-affine theories of gravity
We show that almost all metric--affine theories of gravity yield Einstein
equations with a non--null cosmological constant . Under certain
circumstances and for any dimension, it is also possible to incorporate a Weyl
vector field and therefore the presence of an anisotropy. The viability
of these field equations is discussed in view of recent astrophysical
