    A Markov switching SVAR analysis on the relationship between exchange rate changes and stock returns in China

    Purpose This study investigates the spillover effects between exchange rate changes and stock returns in China. The authors find that no significant interconnections exist between stock returns and exchange rates changes. Design/methodology/approach Although the conventional structural VAR (SVAR) approach fails to examine the contemporaneous effects, the Markov switching SVAR model captures the volatile structure of the Chinese financial market. The regime-switching estimates indicate that volatile structure tends to be significant during two financial crisis periods. Findings Notwithstanding the fact that exchange rate changes cannot Granger-cause stock returns in the long run, its contemporaneous spillover effects on stock returns are found to be statistically significant. Originality/value This study aims to shed light on the spillover effects between exchange rate changes and stock returns in China, as the Chinese currency is becoming flexible and China’s stock market has undertaken important reforms. The spillovers between the two markets are of topical importance due to the increasing connections between China and the global economy

    Pulmonary alveolar type I (AT1) cells cover more than 95% of alveolar surface and are essential for the air-blood barrier function of lungs. AT1 cells have been shown to retain developmental plasticity during alveolar regeneration. However, the development and heterogeneity of AT1 cells remain largely unknown. Here, we conducted a single-cell RNA-seq analysis to characterize postnatal AT1 cell development and identified insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2 (Igfbp2) as a genetic marker specifically expressed in postnatal AT1 cells. The portion of AT1 cells expressing Igfbp2 increases during alveologenesis and in post pneumonectomy (PNX) newly formed alveoli. We found that the adult AT1 cell population contains both Hopx+Igfbp2+ and Hopx+Igfbp2- AT1 cells, which have distinct cell fates during alveolar regeneration. Using an Igfbp2-CreER mouse model, we demonstrate that Hopx+Igfbp2+ AT1 cells represent terminally differentiated AT1 cells that are not able to transdifferentiate into AT2 cells during post-PNX alveolar regeneration. Our study provides tools and insights that will guide future investigations into the molecular and cellular mechanism or mechanisms underlying AT1 cell fate during lung development and regeneration

    Dance Your Latents: Consistent Dance Generation through Spatial-temporal Subspace Attention Guided by Motion Flow

    The advancement of generative AI has extended to the realm of Human Dance Generation, demonstrating superior generative capacities. However, current methods still exhibit deficiencies in achieving spatiotemporal consistency, resulting in artifacts like ghosting, flickering, and incoherent motions. In this paper, we present Dance-Your-Latents, a framework that makes latents dance coherently following motion flow to generate consistent dance videos. Firstly, considering that each constituent element moves within a confined space, we introduce spatial-temporal subspace-attention blocks that decompose the global space into a combination of regular subspaces and efficiently model the spatiotemporal consistency within these subspaces. This module enables each patch pay attention to adjacent areas, mitigating the excessive dispersion of long-range attention. Furthermore, observing that body part's movement is guided by pose control, we design motion flow guided subspace align & restore. This method enables the attention to be computed on the irregular subspace along the motion flow. Experimental results in TikTok dataset demonstrate that our approach significantly enhances spatiotemporal consistency of the generated videos.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure
