TrakMark 2012, The 3rd International Workshop on Benchmark Test Schemes for AR/MR Geometric Registration and Tracking Method , November 11th 2012, Tsukuba, JapanWe describe a benchmark suite with virtualized reality models for augmented reality and mixed reality. Benchmark datasets created with virtualized reality models do not include any measurement errors. On the other hand, supports for benchmarking processes and for creating datasets are desired by creators and users. The benchmark suite is for supporting tracking evaluation and data set generation. In this paper, we describe a design of the benchmark suite, and show experimental results of benchmarking our tracking method and creating datasets with the benchmark suite

Quantum oscillations with magnetic hysteresis observed in CeTe3_{3} thin films

We have performed magnetotransport measurements in CeTe3_{3} thin films down to 0.2 K0.2~{\rm K}. It is known that CeTe3_{3} has two magnetic transitions at TN13 KT_{\rm N1} \approx 3~{\rm K} and TN21 KT_{\rm N2} \approx 1~{\rm K}. A clear Shubnikov-de-Haas (SdH) oscillation was observed at 4 K4~{\rm K}, demonstrating the strong two-dimensional nature in this material. Below TN2T_{\rm N2}, the SdH oscillation has two frequencies, indicating that the Fermi surface could be slightly modulated due to the second magnetic transition. We also observed a magnetic hysteresis in the SdH oscillation below TN1T_{\rm N1}. Especially, there is a unique spike in the magnetoresistance at B0.6 TB \approx 0.6~{\rm T} only when the magnetic field is swept from a high enough field (more than 2 T2~{\rm T}) to zero field.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in Applied Physics Letter

Associations between non-motor symptoms and patient characteristics in Parkinson’s disease: a multicenter cross-sectional study

ObjectiveParkinson’s disease (PD) is characterized by various non-motor symptoms (NMS), such as constipation, olfactory disturbance, sleep disturbance, mental disorders, and motor symptoms. This study aimed to investigate factors associated with NMS in patients with PD.MethodsSymptoms of PD were evaluated using the Movement Disorder Society Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS), Parts I–IV. NMS was assessed using the MDS-UPDRS Part I (self-assessment of NMS) and rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) questionnaires. Patients were categorized by age into <70 years and ≥ 70 years (older adults) groups, according to disease duration into early-stage and advanced-stage groups with a cut-off value of 5 years for motor symptoms, and by sex into male and female groups.ResultsA total of 431 patients with PD (202 males and 229 females) with a mean age of 67.7 years, a mean disease duration of 6.4 years, and a mean Part I total score of 9.9 participated in this study. The Part I total score was significantly positively correlated (p < 0.01) with disease duration and Part II, III, and IV scores. For Part I sub-item scores, the older group had significantly higher scores for cognitive impairment, hallucinations, sleep problems, urinary problems, and constipation than the <70 years group, whereas the advanced-stage group had significantly higher scores for hallucinations, sleep problems, daytime sleepiness, pain, urinary problems, and constipation (p < 0.05) than the early-stage group. Anxiety was higher in female patients than in male patients, whereas daytime sleepiness, urinary problems, and RBD were higher in male patients than in female patients (p < 0.05). Factors affecting Part I included disease duration, Part II total scores, Part IV total scores, and RBD.ConclusionAccording to the self-questionnaire assessment, NMS was highly severe in older adult patients, those with longer illness duration, subjective and objective motor function impairments, and RBD. Sex-based differences were also observed

(P. We thus concluded this long term general mass screening program to be an effective community measure for reducing the mortality rate of cancers. However, various issues remain regarding non-participants in the mass screening program among inhabitants who live in such a medically depopulated area. We carried out a questionnaire survey and an interview both by telephone and home visits, on a total of 882 individuals (males:427, females:455) who had not participted in the mass screening program for at least 5 years and were all over 40 years of age and residents of Naru town. The objective of this story was to evaluate the non-participants in this mass screening program

Preparation of mechanically patterned hydrogels for controlling the self-condensation of cells

Synthetic protocols providing mechanical patterns to culture substrate are essential to control the self-condensation of cells for organoid engineering. Here, we present a protocol for preparing hydrogels with mechanical patterns. We describe steps for hydrogel synthesis, mechanical evaluation of the substrate, and time-lapse imaging of cell self-organization. This protocol will facilitate the rational design of culture substrates with mechanical patterns for the engineering of various functional organoids. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Takebe et al. (2015) and Matsuzaki et al. (2014, 2022).Matsuzaki T., Kawano Y., Horikiri M., et al. NBRP databases: databases of biological resources in Japan

    Get PDF
The National BioResource Project (NBRP) is a Japanese project that aims to establish a system for collecting, preserving and providing bioresources for use as experimental materials for life science research. It is promoted by 27 core resource facilities, each concerned with a particular group of organisms, and by one information center. The NBRP database is a product of this project. Thirty databases and an integrated database-retrieval system (BioResource World: BRW) have been created and made available through the NBRP home page (http://www.nbrp.jp). The 30 independent databases have individual features which directly reflect the data maintained by each resource facility. The BRW is designed for users who need to search across several resources without moving from one database to another. BRW provides access to a collection of 4.5-million records on bioresources including wild species, inbred lines, mutants, genetically engineered lines, DNA clones and so on. BRW supports summary browsing, keyword searching, and searching by DNA sequences or gene ontology. The results of searches provide links to online requests for distribution of research materials. A circulation system allows users to submit details of papers published on research conducted using NBRP resources
