Electronic structure and the Fermi surface of ThRhIn in comparison with uranium and transuranium compounds
By using a relativistic linear augmented-plane-wave method, we clarify energy
band structure and the Fermi surfaces of recently synthesized thorium compound
ThRhIn. We find several cylindrical Fermi surface sheets, which are similar
to those of CeTIn (T=Ir and Co), PuTGa (T=Co and Rh), and AmCoGa.
We discuss such similarity among the compounds including rare-earth or actinide
ions with different electron numbers.Comment: 2 pages, 2 figure, Proceedings of SCES'05 (July 26-30, 2005, Vienna
How does torsional rigidity affect the wrapping transition of a semiflexible chain around a spherical core?
We investigated the effect of torsional rigidity of a semiflexible chain on
the wrapping transition around a spherical core, as a model of nucleosome, the
fundamental unit of chromatin. Through molecular dynamics simulation, we show
that the torsional effect has a crucial effect on the chain wrapping around the
core under the topological constraints. In particular, the torsional stress (i)
induces the wrapping/unwrapping transition, and (ii) leads to a unique complex
structure with an antagonistic wrapping direction which never appears without
the topological constraints. We further examine the effect of the stretching
stress for the nucleosome model, in relation to the unique characteristic
effect of the torsional stress on the manner of wrapping
Navigating new horizons: prospects of NET-targeted radiopharmaceuticals in precision medicine
In the evolving landscape of precision medicine, NET-targeted radiopharmaceuticals are emerging as pivotal tools for the diagnosis and treatment of a range of conditions, from heart failure and neurodegenerative disorders to neuroendocrine cancers. This review evaluates the advancements offered by 18F-labeled PET tracers and 211At alpha-particle therapy, juxtaposed with current 123I-MIBG SPECT and 131I-MIBG therapies. The enhanced spatial resolution and capability for quantitative analysis render 18F-labeled PET tracers potential candidates for improved detection and management of diseases. Alpha-particle therapy with 211At may offer increased specificity and tumoricidal efficacy, pointing towards a shift in therapeutic protocols. While preliminary data is promising, these innovative approaches require thorough validation against current modalities. Ongoing clinical trials are pivotal to confirm the expected clinical benefits and to address safety concerns. This review underscores the need for rigorous research to verify the clinical utility of NET-targeted radiopharmaceuticals, which may redefine precision medicine paradigms and significantly impact patient care
MOTION OF CENTRE OF PRESSURE DURING STANDING ON TIP TOE ON ONE LEG: ASSOCIATION WITH FOREFOOT SHAPE OF CLASSIC BALLET DANCERS
This study clarified how the centre of pressure (COP) is kept in the forefoot area during standing on tip toe on one leg by classical ballet dancers. During standing on tip toe on one leg with ballet shoes, the weight is distributed around the first and second toes and at the distal point of the second metatarsal bone ideally. Thus, the supporting surface during standing on tip toe on one leg would be affected by alignment of the metatarsal bones. Motions of the COP during standing on tip toe on one leg were investigated for ten female recreational dancers and six female professional dancers in classical ballet. The results suggested that balance holding time tended to be longer as the distal points of the metatarsal bones aligned more like a straight line in recreational dancers
