The Multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock Method for Atomic Energy Levels and Transition Probabilities

    No full text
The effect of correlation in the motion of electrons in a many-electron system is considered in the theoretical determination of atomic properties. The correlation effects are computed using the configuration interaction. Restriction is made to the discussion of outer processes of neutral atoms or ions of low degree of ionization in which the relativistic effects are small. The first-order theory, the 3p,3d state of Al II, correlation in the 3d/sup n/ shell, and f-values in the presence of cross-overs are discussed. 29 references. (JFP
