    Dissertação para obtenção do Grau de Mestre em Lógica ComputacionalPordata é uma iniciativa da Fundação Manuel Francisco dos Santos. A Fundação tem como objectivo promover o conhecimento sobre Portugal, e a sua realidade, junto dos cidadãos para que estes possam participar no debate público e contribuir para o desenvolvimento da sociedade democrática moderna. O projecto Pordata foi criado com o objectivo de coleccionar estatísticas sobre Portugal e publicá-las na web. No presente trabalho, apresentamos uma proposta para publicação do Pordata de acordo com a iniciativa Linked Data. Para isso, analisámos a forma como os dados do Pordata estão publicados actualmente, ou seja, como estão representados e como podem ser reutilizados. Apresentamos os princípios subjacentes à iniciativa Linked Data - um conjunto de recomendações sobre como publicar e interligar dados, com uma semântica rica, de forma a que possam ser interpretados e processados por máquinas na web. A ideia da iniciativa Linked Data é construir uma rede de dados aplicando os mesmos princípios que foram utilizados para construir a Web tradicional de documentos. Apresentamos o projecto Linked Open Data que visa converter conjuntos de dados publicados de forma aberta (Open Data) de acordo com os princípios Linked Data, e estudamos aplicações desenvolvidas para beneficiar da integração na iniciativa Linked Data. Propomos casos de estudo que demonstram as vantagens da existência do Pordata integrado na iniciativa Linked Data. Finalmente apresentamos uma aplicação Web que implementa os casos de estudo

    MethOSM: A Methodology for Computing Composite Indicators Derived from OpenStreetMap Data

    The task of computing composite indicators to define and analyze complex social, economic, political, or environmental phenomena has traditionally been the exclusive competence of statistical offices. Nowadays, the availability of increasing volumes of data and the emergence of the open data movement have enabled individuals and businesses affordable access to all kinds of datasets that can be used as valuable input to compute indicators. OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a good example of this. It has been used as a baseline to compute indicators in areas where official data is scarce or difficult to access. Although the extraction and application of OSM data to compute indicators is an attractive proposition, this practice is by no means hassle-free. The use of OSM reveals a number of challenges that are usually addressed with ad-hoc and often overlapping solutions. In this context, this paper proposes MethOSM—a systematic methodology for computing indicators derived from OSM data. By applying MethOSM, the computation task is divided into four steps, with each step having a clear goal and a set of guidelines to apply. In this way, the methodology contributes to an effective and efficient use of OSM data for the purpose of computing indicators. To demonstrate its use, we apply MethOSM to a number of indicators used for real estate valuation of properties in Italy.publishedVersio

    Investigation of the Strength Characteristics of Samples Made of Nylon by FFF Technology

    Additive manufacturing of polymer products over the past decade has become widespread in various areas of industry. Using the FFF method, one of the most technologically simple methods of additive manufacturing, it is possible to produce parts from a large number of different materials, including wear-resistant nylon. This article reflects the process of manufacturing samples from nylon using FFF technology with various internal topologies, as well as tensile tests. The analysis of the obtained results is performed and the relationship between the structure of the sample and the limit of its strength is established. The FFF method is promising for developing methods for producing composite materials. The results of this article can be useful in choosing the necessary manufacturing parameters

    MAPKs are highly abundant but do not contribute to α1-adrenergic contraction of rat saphenous arteries in the early postnatal period

    Previously, the abundance of p42/44 and p38 MAPK proteins had been shown to be higher in arteries of 1- to 2-week-old compared to 2- to 3-month-old rats. However, the role of MAPKs in vascular tone regulation in early ontogenesis remains largely unexplored. We tested the hypothesis that the contribution of p42/44 and p38 MAPKs to the contraction of peripheral arteries is higher in the early postnatal period compared to adulthood. Saphenous arteries of 1- to 2-week-old and 2- to 3-month-old rats were studied using wire myography and western blotting. The α(1)-adrenoceptor agonist methoxamine did not increase the phosphorylation level of p38 MAPK in either 1- to 2-week-old or 2- to 3-month-old rats. Accordingly, inhibition of p38 MAPK did not affect arterial contraction to methoxamine in either age group. Methoxamine increased the phosphorylation level of p42/44 MAPKs in arteries of 2- to 3-month-old and of p44 MAPK in 1- to 2-week-old rats. Inhibition of p42/44 MAPKs reduced methoxamine-induced contractions in arteries of 2- to 3-month-old, but not 1- to 2-week-old rats. Thus, despite a high abundance in arterial tissue, p38 and p42/44 MAPKs do not regulate contraction of the saphenous artery in the early postnatal period. However, p42/44 MAPK activity contributes to arterial contractions in adult rats

    Effects of the Infill Density on the Mechanical Properties of Nylon Specimens Made by Filament Fused Fabrication

    Additive manufacturing of polymer products over the past decade has become widespread in various areas of industry. Using the fused filament fabrication (FFF) method, one of the most technologically simple methods of additive manufacturing, it is possible to produce parts from a large number of different materials, including wear-resistant nylon. The novelty of the work is properties investigation of ±45° filling configuration with different filling degree for nylon, as well as calculating the effect of infill on the strength characteristics, excluding the shell. This article reflects the process of manufacturing samples from nylon using FFF technology with various internal topologies, as well as tensile tests. The analysis of the obtained results is performed and the relationship between the structure of the sample and the limit of its strength is established. To calculate real filling degree and the effect of internal filling on the strength characteristics of the specimen, it is proposed to use a method based on the geometric and mass parameters. The FFF method is promising for developing methods for producing a composite material. The results of this article can be useful in choosing the necessary manufacturing parameters

    ProDataMarket: A data marketplace for monetizing linked data

    Linked data has emerged as an interesting technology for Publishing structured data on the Web but also as a powerful mechanism for integrating disparate data sources. Various tools and approaches have been developed in the semantic Web community to produce and consume linked data, however little attention has been paid to monetization of linked data. In this paper we introduce a data marketplace – proDataMarket – that enables data providers to generate, advertise, and sell linked data, and data consumers to purchase linked data on the marketplace. The marketplace was originally designed with a focus on geospatial linked data (targeting property-related data providers and consumers) but its capabilities are generic and can be used for data in various domains.
