A ``Gaussian'' Approach to Computing Supersymmetric Effective Actions
For nonsupersymmetric theories, the one-loop effective action can be computed
via zeta function regularization in terms of the functional trace of the heat
kernel associated with the operator which appears in the quadratic part of the
action. A method is developed for computing this functional trace by exploiting
its similarity to a Gaussian integral. The procedure is extended to superspace,
where it is used to compute the low energy effective action obtained by
integrating out massive scalar supermultiplets in the presence of a

Electron screening in molecular fusion reactions
Recent laboratory experiments have measured fusion cross sections at
center-of-mass energies low enough for the effects of atomic and molecular
electrons to be important. To extract the cross section for bare nuclei from
these data (as required for astrophysical applications), it is necessary to
understand these screening effects. We study electron screening effects in the
low-energy collisions of Z=1 nuclei with hydrogen molecules. Our model is based
on a dynamical evolution of the electron wavefunctions within the TDHF scheme,
while the motion of the nuclei is treated classically. We find that at the
currently accessible energies the screening effects depend strongly on the
molecular orientation. The screening is found to be larger for molecular
targets than for atomic targets, due to the reflection symmetry in the latter.
The results agree fairly well with data measured for deuteron collisions on

Weak Boson Production Amplitude Zeros; Equalities of the Helicity Amplitudes
We investigate the radiation amplitude zeros exhibited by many Standard Model
amplitudes for triple weak gauge boson production processes. We show that
production amplitudes have especially rich structure in terms of
zeros, these amplitudes have zeros originating from several different sources.
It is also shown that TYPE I current null zone is the special case of the

The Nuclear Sigma Term in the Skyrme Model: Pion-Nucleus Interaction
The nuclear sigma term is calculated including the nuclear matrix element of
the derivative of the NN interaction with respect to the quark mass,
. The NN potential is evaluated in the
skyrmion-skyrmion picture within the quantized product ansatz. The contribution
of the NN potential to the nuclear sigma term provides repulsion to the
pion-nucleus interaction. The strength of the s-wave pion-nucleus optical
potential is estimated including such contribution. The results are consistent

Antimatter in the Universe
Cosmological models which predict a large amount of antimatter in the
Universe are reviewed. Observational signatures and searches for cosmic
antimatter are briefly considered. A short discussion of new long range forces

Absence of resonant enhancements in some inclusive rates
A toy model is defined and solved perturbatively with the aim of examining
some claimed "resonant" enhancements of certain reaction rates that enter
popular models of leptogenesis. We find: a) that such enhancements are absent;
and b) that the perturbative solution, as done correctly using finite-
temperature field theory, is well defined without the "resumming" procedures
found in the literature. The pathologies that led to the perceived need for
these procedures are an artifact of uncritical use of weighted vacuum cross-
sections in the determination of rates, without adequate attention to the
