Exhaust cloud rise and diffusion in the atmosphere
Analytical approach develops physical-mathematical model of rocket engine exhaust cloud rise, growth, and diffusion. Analytic derivations and resultant model apply to hot exhaust cloud study or industrial stack plumes, making work results applicable to air pollution. Model formulations apply to all exhaust cloud types and various atmospheric conditions

Life History, Diet, Abundance and Distribution, and Length-Frequencies of Selected Invertebrates in Florida Bay, Everglades National Park, Florida
This report presents information on the life history, diet, abundance and distribution, and length-frequency distributions of five invertebrates in Florida Bay, Everglades National Park. Collections were made with an otter trawl in basins on a bi-monthly basis. Non-parametric
statistics were used to test spatial and temporal differences in the abundance of invertebrates when numbers were appropriate (i. e., $25). Invertebrate species are presented in four sections. The sections on Life History, and Diet were derived from the literature. The section on
Abundance and Distribution consists of data from otter-trawl collections. In addition, comparisons with other studies are included here following our results. The section on Length-frequency Distributions consists of length measurements from all collections, except 1984-1985
when no measurements were taken. Length-frequency distributions were used, when possible, to estimate life stage captured, spawning times, recruitment into Florida Bay for those species which spawn outside the Bay, and growth. Additional material from the literature was added
when appropriate. (PDF contains 39 pages

Currently, the analytical method based on blood pressure (BP) or heart rate (HR) changes during the TTT is linear but normal physiological modulations of BP and HR are thought to be predominately nonlinear. Therefore, this study consists of two parts: the first part is analyzing the HR during TTT which is compared to three methods to distinguish normal controls and subjects with ANS dysfunction. The first method is power spectrum density (PSD), while the second method is detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA), and the third method is multiscale entropy (MSE) to calculate the complexity of system. The second part of the study is to analyze BP and cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) changes during TTT. Two measures were used to compare the results, namely correlation coefficient analysis (nMxa) and MSE. The first part of this study has concluded that the ratio of the low frequency power to total power of PSD, and MSE methods are better than DFA to distinguish the difference between normal controls and patients groups. While in the second part, the nMxa of the three stages moving average window is better than the nMxa with all three stages together. Furthermore the analysis of BP data using MSE is better than CBFV data. The Stroke Center and Department of Neurology, National Taiwan University, National Science Council in Taiwan, and the Center for Dynamical Biomarkers

Macrolactamization of Glycosylated Peptide Thioesters by the Thioesterase Domain of Tyrocidine Synthetase
SummaryThe 35 kDa thioesterase (TE) domain excised from the megadalton tyrocidine synthetase (Tyc Syn) retains autonomous capacity to macrocyclize peptidyl thioesters to D-Phe1-L-Leu10-macrolactams. Since a number of nonribosomal peptides undergo O-glycosylation events during tailoring to gain biological activity, the Tyc Syn TE domain was evaluated for cyclization capacity with glycosylated peptidyl-S-NAC substrates. First, Tyr7 was replaced with Tyr(β-D-Gal) and Tyr(β-D-Glc) as well as with Ser-containing β-linked D-Gal, D-Glc, D-GlcNAc, and D-GlcNH2, and these new analogs were shown to be cyclized with comparable kcat/Km catalytic efficiency. Similarly, Gal- or tetra-O-acetyl-Gal-Ser could also be substituted at residues 5, 6, and 8 in the linear decapeptidyl-S-NAC sequences and cyclized without substantial loss in catalytic efficiency by Tyc Syn TE. The cyclic glycopeptides retained antibiotic activity as membrane perturbants in MIC assays, opening the possibility for library construction of cyclic glycopeptides by enzymatic macrocyclization
