Chandra observation of the central galaxies in A1060 cluster of galaxies
Chandra observation of the central region of the A1060 cluster of galaxies
resolved X-ray emission from two giant elliptical galaxies, NGC 3311 and NGC
3309. The emission from these galaxies consists of two components, namely the
hot interstellar medium (ISM) and the low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs). We found
the spatial extent of the ISM component was much smaller than that of stars for
both galaxies, while the ratios of X-ray to optical blue-band luminosities were
rather low but within the general scatter for elliptical galaxies. After
subtracting the LMXB component, the ISM is shown to be in pressure balance with
the intracluster medium of A1060 at the outer boundary of the ISM. These
results imply that the hot gas supplied from stellar mass loss is confined by
the external pressure of the intracluster medium, with the thermal conduction
likely to be suppressed. The cD galaxy NGC 3311 does not exhibit the extended
potential structure which is commonly seen in bright elliptical galaxies, and

Exploring the spread and scale of a web-based clinical decision support portal in Sydney, Australia, during COVID-19: a case study
Purpose HealthPathways is an online decision support portal, primarily aimed at General Practitioners (GPs), that provides easy to access and up to date clinical, referral and resource pathways. It is free to access, with the intent of providing the right care, at the right place, at the right time. This case study focuses on the experience and learnings of a HealthPathways program in metropolitan Sydney during the COVID-19 pandemic. It reviews the team's program management responses and looks at key factors that have facilitated the spread and scale of HealthPathways. Design/methodology/approach Available data and experiences of two HealthPathways program managers were used to recount events and aspects influencing spread and scale. Findings The key factors for successful spread and scale are a coordinated response, the maturity of the HealthPathways program, having a single source of truth, high level governance, leadership, collaboration, flexible funding and ability to make local changes where required. Time-Dependence of the Mass Accretion Rate in Cluster Cooling Flows
We analyze two time-dependent cluster cooling flow models in spherical
symmetry. The first assumes that the intracluster gas resides in a static
external potential, and includes the effects of optically thin radiative
cooling and mass deposition. This corresponds to previous steady-state cooling
flow models calculated by White & Sarazin (1987). Detailed agreement is found
between steady-state models and time-dependent models at fixed times in the
simulations. The mass accretion rate is found either to increase or remain
nearly constant once flows reach a steady state. The time rate of change of the
accretion rate is strongly sensitive to the value of the mass deposition
parameter q, but only mildly sensitive to the ratio beta of gravitational
binding energy to gas temperature. We show that previous scaling arguments
presented by Bertschinger (1988) and White (1988) are valid only for mature
cooling flows with weak mass deposition (q ~< 1). The second set of models
includes the effects of a secularly deepening cluster potential and secondary
infall of gas from the Hubble flow. We find that such heating effects do not
prevent the flows from reaching a steady state within an initial central

Chandra Observation of the Cluster Environment of a WAT Radio Source in Abell 1446
Wide-angle tail (WAT) radio sources are often found in the centers of galaxy
clusters where intracluster medium (ICM) ram pressure may bend the lobes into
their characteristic C-shape. We examine the low redshift (z=0.1035) cluster
Abell 1446, host to the WAT radio source 1159+583. The cluster exhibits
possible evidence for a small-scale cluster-subcluster merger as a cause of the
WAT radio source morphology. This evidence includes the presence of temperature
and pressure substructure along the line that bisects the WAT as well as a
possible wake of stripped interstellar material or a disrupted cool core to the
southeast of the host galaxy. A filament to the north may represent cool,
infalling gas that's contributing to the WAT bending while spectroscopically
determined redshifts of member galaxies may indicate some component of a merger
occurring along the line-of-sight. The WAT model of high flow velocity and low
lobe density is examined as another scenario for the bending of 1159+583. It
has been argued that such a model would allow the ram pressure due to the
galaxy's slow motion through the ICM to shape the WAT source. A temperature
profile shows that the cluster is isothermal (kT= 4.0 keV) in a series of
annuli reaching a radius of 400 kpc. There is no evidence of an ongoing cooling
flow. Temperature, abundance, pressure, density, and mass profiles, as well as

ruvA Mutants that resolve Holliday junctions but do not reverse replication forks
RuvAB and RuvABC complexes catalyze branch migration and resolution of Holliday junctions (HJs) respectively. In addition to their action in the last steps of homologous recombination, they process HJs made by replication fork reversal, a reaction which occurs at inactivated replication forks by the annealing of blocked leading and lagging strand ends. RuvAB was recently proposed to bind replication forks and directly catalyze their conversion into HJs. We report here the isolation and characterization of two separation-of-function ruvA mutants that resolve HJs, based on their capacity to promote conjugational recombination and recombinational repair of UV and mitomycin C lesions, but have lost the capacity to reverse forks. In vivo and in vitro evidence indicate that the ruvA mutations affect DNA binding and the stimulation of RuvB helicase activity. This work shows that RuvA's actions at forks and at HJs can be genetically separated, and that RuvA mutants compromised for fork reversal remain fully capable of homologous recombination
Spurious and functional correlates of the isotopic composition of a generalist across a tropical rainforest landscape
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The isotopic composition of generalist consumers may be expected to vary in space as a consequence of spatial heterogeneity in isotope ratios, the abundance of resources, and competition. We aim to account for the spatial variation in the carbon and nitrogen isotopic composition of a generalized predatory species across a 500 ha. tropical rain forest landscape. We test competing models to account for relative influence of resources and competitors to the carbon and nitrogen isotopic enrichment of gypsy ants (<it>Aphaenogaster araneoides</it>), taking into account site-specific differences in baseline isotope ratios.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We found that 75% of the variance in the fraction of <sup>15</sup>N in the tissue of <it>A. araneoides </it>was accounted by one environmental parameter, the concentration of soil phosphorus. After taking into account landscape-scale variation in baseline resources, the most parsimonious model indicated that colony growth and leaf litter biomass accounted for nearly all of the variance in the δ<sup>15</sup>N discrimination factor, whereas the δ<sup>13</sup>C discrimination factor was most parsimoniously associated with colony size and the rate of leaf litter decomposition. There was no indication that competitor density or diversity accounted for spatial differences in the isotopic composition of gypsy ants.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Across a 500 ha. landscape, soil phosphorus accounted for spatial variation in baseline nitrogen isotope ratios. The δ<sup>15</sup>N discrimination factor of a higher order consumer in this food web was structured by bottom-up influences - the quantity and decomposition rate of leaf litter. Stable isotope studies on the trophic biology of consumers may benefit from explicit spatial design to account for edaphic properties that alter the baseline at fine spatial grains.</p

Welcome to Implementation Science
Implementation research is the scientific study of methods to promote the systematic uptake of research findings and other evidence-based practices into routine practice, and, hence, to improve the quality and effectiveness of health services and care. This relatively new field includes the study of influences on healthcare professional and organisational behaviour. Implementation Science will encompass all aspects of research in this field, in clinical, community and policy contexts. This online journal will provide a unique platform for this type of research and will publish a broad range of articles – study protocols, debate, theoretical and conceptual articles, rigorous evaluations of the process of change, and articles on methodology and rigorously developed tools – that will enhance the development and refinement of implementation research. No one discipline, research design, or paradigm will be favoured. Implementation Science looks forward to receiving manuscripts that facilitate the continued development of the field, and contribute to healthcare policy and practice
Domain wall QCD with physical quark masses
We present results for several light hadronic quantities (, ,
, , , , ) obtained from simulations of 2+1
flavor domain wall lattice QCD with large physical volumes and nearly-physical
pion masses at two lattice spacings. We perform a short, O(3)%, extrapolation
in pion mass to the physical values by combining our new data in a simultaneous
chiral/continuum `global fit' with a number of other ensembles with heavier
pion masses. We use the physical values of , and to
determine the two quark masses and the scale - all other quantities are outputs
from our simulations. We obtain results with sub-percent statistical errors and
negligible chiral and finite-volume systematics for these light hadronic
quantities, including: = 130.2(9) MeV; = 155.5(8) MeV; the
average up/down quark mass and strange quark mass in the scheme
at 3 GeV, 2.997(49) and 81.64(1.17) MeV respectively; and the neutral kaon
mixing parameter, , in the RGI scheme, 0.750(15) and the
scheme at 3 GeV, 0.530(11).Comment: 131 pages, 30 figures. Updated to match published versio
New Optical Insights into the Mass Discrepancy of Galaxy Clusters: The Cases of A1689 and A2218
We analyze the internal structures of clusters A1689 and A2218 by applying a
recent development of the method of wavelet analysis, which uses the complete
information obtained from optical data, i.e. galaxy positions and redshifts. We
find that both clusters show the presence of structures superimposed along the
line of sight with different mean redshifts and smaller velocity dispersions
than that of the system as a whole, suggesting that the clusters could be cases
of the on-going merging of clumps. In the case of A2218 we find an acceptable
agreement between our estimate of optical virial mass and X-ray and
gravitational lensing masses. On the contrary, in the case of A1689 we find
that our mass estimates are smaller than X-ray and gravitational lensing ones
at both small and large radii. In any case, at variance with earlier claims,
