Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) structural verification test report
Structural load tests on the Long Duration Exposure Facility's (LDEF) primary structure were conducted. These tests had three purposes: (1) demonstrate structural adequacy of the assembled LDEF primary structure when subjected to anticipated flight loads; (2) verify analytical models and methods used in loads and stress analysis; and (3) perform tests to comply with the Space Transportation System (STS) requirements. Test loads were based on predicted limit loads which consider all flight events. Good agreement is shown between predicted and observed load, strain, and deflection data. Test data show that the LDEF structure was subjected to 1.2 times limit load to meet the STS requirements. The structural adequacy of the LDEF is demonstrated
Precision CW laser automatic tracking system investigated
Precision laser tracker capable of tracking a low acceleration target to an accuracy of about 20 microradians rms is being constructed and tested. This laser tracking has the advantage of discriminating against other optical sources and the capability of simultaneously measuring range
Attachment, Emotional Intelligence and Career Aspirations in Emerging Adulthood
Women are underrepresented in senior management and leadership positions in OECD countries. The aim of this study was to explore therelationship between attachment styles, emotional intelligence, and career aspirations of emerging adults with a focus on potential sex differences. An online survey assessed 508 emerging adults (male= 207) and female= 301), aged between 20 and 25 (M= 22.6, Sd= 1.6), on home backgrounddemographics, adult attachment, emotional intelligence, and career aspirations. Findings show that SES, parental education, positive attachment, andemotional intelligence are associated with stronger career aspirations. Of note was the finding that while females score higher on educational andachievement aspirations, males scored higher on leadership aspiration. While further exploration is required this difference in emerging adulthoodmay reflect the impact of occupational stereotypes on female expectations and can inform career advice and guidance
Effect of bulk viscosity on Elliptic Flow near QCD phase transition
Effects of the bulk viscosity on the elliptic flow are studied. To introduce
a realistic equation of state and transport coefficients, we apply the results
of the lattice QCD and hadron resonance gas calculations for these quantities.
We found that the bulk viscosity acts in a non trivial manner on the elliptic
flow . The reduction of is more effective at low
compared to the case of shear viscosity, whereas at high , the situation
is reversed, leading to enhancement. We argue that this is caused by
the competition of the critical behaviors of the equation of state and the
transport coefficients. We further found that Grad's method with the 14 moments
approximation is not applicable to estimate the viscous effects for the
one-particle distribution function at the freeze out.Comment: 14 pages, 12 figure
