Anisotropic Hubbard model on a triangular lattice -- spin dynamics in Ho Mn O_3
The recent neutron-scattering data for spin-wave dispersion in are well described by an anisotropic Hubbard model on a triangular lattice
with a planar (XY) spin anisotropy. Best fit indicates that magnetic
excitations in correspond to the strong-coupling limit , with planar exchange energy meV and planar
anisotropy meV.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Phase Transition in the Three-Dimensional Ising Spin Glass
We have studied the three-dimensional Ising spin glass with a
distribution by Monte Carlo simulations. Using larger sizes and much better
statistics than in earlier work, a finite size scaling analysis shows quite
strong evidence for a finite transition temperature, , with ordering below
. Our estimate of the transition temperature is rather lower than in
earlier work, and the value of the correlation length exponent, , is
somewhat higher. Because there may be (unknown) corrections to finite size
scaling, we do not completely rule out the possibility that or that
is finite but with no order below . However, from our data, these
possibilities seem less likely.Comment: Postscript file compressed using uufiles. The postscript file is also

Magneto-transport characteristics of La1.4Ca1.6Mn2O7 thin film deposited by spray pyrolysis
Polycrystalline thin films of double layer manganite La_1.4Ca_1.6Mn_2O_7
(DLCMO) have been deposited by nebulized spray pyrolysis on single crystal
LaAlO_3 substrates. These single phase films having grain size in the range
70-100 nm exhibit ferromagnetic transition at T_C ~ 107K. The short range
ferromagnetic ordering due to in plane spin coherence is evidenced to occur at
a higher temperature around 225 K. Insulator/semiconductor to metal transition
occurs at a lower temperature T_P ~ 55K. The transport mechanism above T_C is
of Mott`s variable range hopping type. Below T_C the current-voltage
characteristics show non-linear behaviour that becomes stronger with decreasing
temperature. At low temperatures below T_CA ~ 30K a magnetically frustrated
spin canted state is observed. The DLCMO films exhibit resonable low field
magnetoresistance and at 77K the magnetoresistance ratio is ~ 5% at 0.6 kOe and
\~ 13% at 3 kOe.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figure
Dynamics of excitable nodes on random graphs
We study the interplay of topology and dynamics of excitable nodes on random networks. Comparison is made between systems grown by purely random (Erdős–Rényi) rules and those grown by the Achlioptas process. For a given size, the growth mechanism affects both the thresholds for the emergence of different structural features as well as the level of dynamical activity supported on the network
