AIMS: To develop quality indicators (QIs) for the evaluation of the prevention and management of cancer therapy-related cardiovascular toxicity. METHODS AND RESULTS: We followed the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) methodology for QI development which comprises (i) identifying the key domains of care for the prevention and management of cancer therapy-related cardiovascular toxicity in patients on cancer treatment, (ii) performing a systematic review of the literature to develop candidate QIs, and (iii) selecting of the final set of QIs using a modified Delphi process. Work was undertaken in parallel with the writing of the 2022 ESC Guidelines on Cardio-Oncology and in collaboration with the European Haematology Association, the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the International Cardio-Oncology Society. In total, 5 main and 9 secondary QIs were selected across five domains of care: (i) Structural framework, (ii) Baseline cardiovascular risk assessment, (iii) Cancer therapy related cardiovascular toxicity, (iv) Predictors of outcomes, and (v) Monitoring of cardiovascular complications during cancer therapy. CONCLUSION: We present the ESC Cardio-Oncology QIs with their development process and provide an overview of the scientific rationale for their selection. These indicators are aimed at quantifying and improving the adherence to guideline-recommended clinical practice and improving patient outcomes

Vibration of a mistuned three-bladed rotor under regular and chaotic excitations

    No full text
This study considers forced vibrations of a rotating structure consisting of a rigid hub and three flexible beams. The blades are nominally made of a multilayered laminate with a specific stacking sequence resulting in full isotropic macroscopic material behaviour. However, in the performed analysis it is assumed that the rotor has been mistuned because of manufacturing tolerances of the composite material. These inaccuracies are represented by deviations of reinforcing fibres orientations from their nominal values. The considered tolerances break the intended macroscopic material isotropy and make the laminate to exhibit the fully orthotropic behaviour. Based on previous authors research, the system of four mutually coupled dimensionless ordinary differential governing equations is adopted. Forced responses of the system under regular and chaotic excitations are investigated

Nonlinear dynamics and synchronisation of pendula attached to a rotating hub

A model of a nonlinear system composed of a hub with attached two pendula rotating in a horizontal plane is studied in the paper. Each single pendulum, treated as a stiff and massless rod with a lumped mass, is connected to the hub by a flapping hinge. Nonlinear stiffness and viscous damping of the hinge is taken into consideration. The system is excited by an external torque generated by a DC motor which is considered as an ideal system with torque given by a harmonic function. For small oscillations the problem is linearised and then solved analytically. An influence of the structural parameters like mass of the hub and pendula length on natural end excited vibrations is presented. Large oscillations are studied by a continuation technique, directly from the original Ordinary Differential Equations of motion (ODE). The complete synchronisation, phase synchronisation, bifurcations and transition through resonances are analysed considering the influence of the mass of the hub. The existence of chaotic oscillations of the system and paths leading to chaos are demonstrated as well

The paper presents results of simulation research at 5,56 mm gas operated carbine with short-stroke gas piston jump and recoil. Influence of chosen constructional parameters of the weapon on the jump and the recoil of the weapon have been presented too. Simulations showed that the weapon weight has the strongest influence on the recoil and weapon moment of inertia has a strong influence on the jump of the weapon. Position of the fulcrum of the weapon to the barrel axis and the gas chamber is also very important to the weapon jump

W pracy przedstawiono model fizyczny i matematyczny podrzutu broni automatycznej działającej na zasadzie odprowadzenia gazów prochowych, w czasie jednego cyklu strzału. The paper presents free jump up phenomenon of gas operated automatic small arms with short-stroke piston system. Physical and mathematical models of analysed system action have been presented too. Jump up phenomenon was divided for seven specific periods. Jump up of small arms should be maximum limited (particularly in automatic weapon) because it directly influences on direction of bullets during shooting. Jump up of the gas operated weapon depends on the placement of the gas chamber. Jump up of the weapon with gas chamber located under the barrel is incised and the weapon with gas chamber located over the barrel is decreased

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki niektórych badań odporności płyt wykonanych różnymi technologiami na przebicie pociskami nabojów: karabinowego 7,62x54R mm Mosin i wielkokalibrowego 12,7x99 mm Browning. Najwyższą odporność balistyczną na oddziaływanie pocisków nabojów 7,62x54R mm (III poziom według STANAG-u) wykazały płyty napawane warstwą P-CNi-AlNiAl, natomiast najlepsze rezultaty na oddziaływanie pocisków nabojów 12,7x99 mm uzyskano dla napoin nanostrukturalnych. Badania te przeprowadzono w Instytucie Techniki Uzbrojenia Wojskowej Akademii Technicznej w ramach projektu rozwojowego PBR/15-022/2009/WAT pt. "Natryskiwanie łukowe i płomieniowe HVOF oraz napawanie GMA i laserowe nanostrukturalnych, kompozytowych i gradientowych warstw wierzchnich o wysokiej odporności balistycznej modułów ochronnych pancerza".This paper presents the results of the tests of experimental armour resistance for penetration with 7,62x54R mm Mosin and 12,7x99 mm NATO round. The highest ballistic resistance to the impact of a 7,62 mm-calibre bullet (level III according STANAG) was observed for plates that were pad welded with a P-CNi-AlNiAl layer. Whereas, for a 12,7 mm-calibre bullet, the best results were obtained for nanostructural padding welds. Tests were made by the Faculty of Mechatronics, Military University of Technology, during the R+D project PBR/15-022/2009/WAT entitled: "HVOF arc and flame spraying as GMA and laser pad welding of nanostructural composite and gradient surface layers that are characterised by a high ballistic resistance of an armour's protection module"
