    INFLUENCE OF LEADERSHIP STYLES ON MOTIVATION AND PRODUCTIVITY OF EMPLOYEES: A STUDY ON CHINESE IT FIRMS

    In today's rapidly changing society, IT enterprises continue to develop invincible and IT enterprise managers are responsible for taking corrective initiatives to avoid future problems. In an organization, leadership style is a key factor to improve employee performance and promote organizational innovation culture, which plays a crucial role in every organization and business. The purpose of this study is to help improve employee performance through effective leadership in Chinese IT enterprises through the mediating role of organizational innovation culture. In this study, the researcher uses quantitative methods to analyze and process the data collected through the questionnaire. The study discusses in detail the effects and influence of the two leadership styles, namely transformational leadership and transactional leadership on employee performance. The results depict that transformational leadership has a significant positive influence on employee performance and organizational innovation culture, while the influence of transactional leadership is weak in comparison to that of Transformational leadership. Finally, it is suggested that in order to improve the transformational leadership, especially in the IT industry, which is constantly changing and innovating, the firm needs to be constantly stimulating innovation and change of employees. The enterprise needs to adapt to the development of the times and improve the performance of employees, thereby enhancing the core competitiveness of the enterprise

    Factors influencing management development of MBA students: exploring concerns of business schools in Pakistan

    The purpose of this study is to explore factors that reinforce or obstruct business schools in Pakistan to develop managerial knowledge, skills and work-based learning experiences of MBA students. The study is prompted by growing debates about insufficiencies in business schools to prepare MBA graduates based on managerial capital needs in the regional markets. To understand the reasons of insufficiencies from business school’s viewpoint, this study employs qualitative interviews to explore factors that reinforce or obstruct business schools. Deans, faculty members and administrators of five different business schools in Hyderabad, Pakistan participated in this study. Responses of the participants are transcribed into verbatim reports and description of findings is structured in SWOT analysis format. Findings show sixteen different factors, comprising of four strengths, seven weaknesses, three opportunities, and two threats. There are more number of weaknesses of business schools to develop MBA students. However, business schools have some strengths and opportunities which they may utilize and improve. Radical changes would strive from the higher education authority. Conceptual framework presented in this study recommends that higher education authority may lead the change, cooperate between business schools and stakeholders, and support business schools to develop future managers and leaders through MBA programs

    Eat, work, love: alternative tourists’ connection with ethnic food

    Purpose: Ethnic food is a pivotal polysemic artifact, yet commonly studied based on experience. This leaves an eclipse in understanding its overall significance and implications. The purpose of this paper is to explore the interactions of experience, intimacy and embodiment from the lens of alternative tourism and Asia as a destination image. Design/methodology/approach: The authors conducted four focus group that include Asians who take experiential learning trips and spiritual journeys across Asia-Pacific. Findings: Alternative tourists promote the growth of ethnic foodies who value impact which they determine as quality food-scape, longitudinal caring interactions with and the constant assurance of consuming food which are safe and healthy to their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Research limitations/implications: Although our research does not employ any quantitative technique and devoid of inferential analysis, the rich qualitative data offer insights for further work that benefit ethnic food industry. Practical implications: Industry and policy makers are encouraged to generate contextual solutions for management of the ethnic food industry. Ethnic food consumption may flourish if the industry leads its growth through a post-modernist approach. Social implications: A broad perspective in growing the frontiers of ethnic food tourism beyond the landscape of an economic or consumerism-dominated approach would benefit the cross-mobility of quality talents and skills as this fosters cross-cultural literacy. Originality/value: The authors develop the Ethnic Foodies Perspective-Ethnic Food Destination Image Matrix as a pathway to further motivate knowledge cross-fertilization in ethnic food tourism studies and leverage on the transdisciplinary science, innovation, socio- and sensuous geographic arena. A constellation of ethnic food innovation should link the economic side of exotic differentiation and heritage with food processing, safety and traceability

    Leadership styles in influencing employees’ job performances

    As the global business environment becomes increasingly competitive, the manager’s leadership style is gaining importance to drive employees’ efficiencies and productivity levels. Employees are the key drivers of the organization. Managers are expected to demonstrate strong leadership that can boost employees’ performances and direct followers to achieve organization goals. This study was conducted to discover the relationship between leadership styles and employees’ job performances. Specifically, this paper aims to identify the degree of influence among the three types of leadership styles namely, transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and thought leadership on employees’ job performances in the Malaysian private sector. Researchers have conducted many studies on transformational and transactional leadership theories adopted from Full Range Leadership Model developed by (Bass & Avolio, 1994). However, thought leadership role has started to draw much attention on how leadership styles affect employees’ job performances. This article also aims to provide an alternative view that distinguishes from previous researches which focus on different leadership styles used by managers to improve employees’ job performances in different settings.
