Machine learning is a new dimension of science since last 2 decade which motivates algorithms that can learn from data by building a model, based on inputs and using that to make predications or decisions, rather than following only explicitly programmed instructions. Machine learning is sometimes conflated with data mining, which focuses more on exploratory data analysis. Data mining is the extraction of interesting (non-trivial, implicit, previously unknow and potential useful) patterns of knowledge from huge amount of data In computer vision image segmentation is the process of partitioning a digital image into multiple segments (set of pixels, also known as super-pixels). The goals of segmentation is to simplify and/or change the representation of an image into something that is more meaningful and easier to analyze. Image segmentation is typically used to locate objects and boundaries (lines, curves, etc.) in images. More precisely, image segmentation is the process of assigning a label to every pixel in an image such that pixels with the same label share certain characteristics. After that by considering region co-ordinates it separates all color in different figure

Objective: Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles was attempted with the help of aqueous Vinca rosea leaf extract. The aim of the study was to combine the therapeutic activity of Vinca rosea and the deep tissue penetration capabilities of the silver nanoparticles. Methods: This study focuses on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using an aqueous extract of Vinca rosea leaves, its characterization, and evaluation of its antibacterial and anticancer activity by diffusion method and MTT assay using human lung carcinoma cell line A549 respectively. The nanoparticles were synthesised by exposing the reaction mixture containing silver nitrate and Vinca leaf aqueous extract to microwave radiation. Results: The characterization of synthesised nanoparticles was carried out by observing the peaks on scanning from 250 to 800 nm using UV spectroscopy, the end point for the complete formation of nanoparticles marked by a colour change to reddish brown. Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) which evaluated particle size uniformity and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) which determines the particle size revealed that the nanoparticles were spherical in shape and measured an average of 50.75 nm. 170µg/ml of AgNPs of Vinca leaf aqueous extract should potent anti-bacterial activity tested by agar well diffusion method as well as the cytotoxic activity which was evaluated by MTT assay. Conclusion: The synthesised nanoparticles were found to be potentially cytotoxic against A549 cell line and also demonstrated anti-bacterial activity. The activity may be attributed to the fact that silver ions are known to impair macromolecules containing sulphur and phosphorus like protein and DNA owing to their small size and high penetration power.Â

Policy Design & Delivery: Undermanaged Human Resources as Determinants of India’s High Growth & Low Productivity

    Get PDF
India’s series of economic reforms since 1991 have accelerated economic growth but not productivity at same pace. Productivity in manufacturing sector in the last two decades remains stagnant, but nobody sincerely has bothered to measure and improve. There are several ways & means to measure productivity, defined differently by different scholars. It is a fact that even using same data, different methodology will give different numbers of productivity. But whatsoever methodology we use to measure productivity, India’s productivity is quite low compared to USA & other BRIC nations. As per world management survey, 1% increases of management score increases 6% productivity. Comparatively there is not much empirical study in India to understand employee efficiency. And hence there are no concentrated efforts to take remedial measures to make them more effective and efficient using study of health economics, human psychology, education, cognitive & non-cognitive capabilities and its effect on skill formation. India faces challenges of poor governance, corruption, slow decision making process, lack of accountability, low & obsolete management skill. This research aims at investigating reasons of low productivity specifically in the manufacture sector due to human resource management of industry & the government. The industry to some extent look at their own human resources as part of employee performance management, but this research aims to investigate; does the government policy affect productivity? Indian business environment is said to be heavily influenced by various government interfere and red-tapism. A business has to pass through dozens of windows varies in one state to another. The government policies cobweb is cumbersome and puzzle. The government policy is what is inferred by the person who implements it. The policy is implemented through various stages and each stage has its own nuances. It is the people on ground that understands the policy and implement which determine the fate of the policy. The policy is framed at high level after detailed study of the relevant factors and with full knowledge. But on the ground those who are responsible to implement such policy at micro level hardly understand the rationale and have same self-drive to implement the policy. Corruption, lack of accountability, political influence and lack of managerial & leadership skill of the government employees adds hurdle in safe delivery of the policy

Humanization: Explaining the Law of Cooperatives in India

    Get PDF
International Cooperative Alliance defines a cooperative as an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically-controlled enterprise. Cooperatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, mutual cooperation, and solidarity. Members of the cooperative society believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others. Cooperatives enterprises across the globe provide economic values coupled with social flavor. Cooperatives provide an important channel for bridging market values and human values. If set within an agreed framework for inclusive growth, cooperative ideals and cooperative organization will be more effective in meeting their people-centered objectives. Cooperatives run for economic reasons but also enhance humanization. Several models of cooperatives across the globe are engaged in various activities. Cooperatives in one continent may be different in terms of size, business volume, model, economic emphasise and activities than other continents, but one thing is unique; cooperatives main axle is humanization. We discuss the provision of Cooperative Societies Act

Business Ethics & Employee Turnover: CAFE Matrix

    Get PDF
Abstract: Business ethics is in discussion for its importance universally, so is the employee turnover in business. Unethical practices are unwanted, so is the high employee turnover. Unethical practices and high employee turnover in business is ubiquitous. No consensus exists on defining ethics. Employee turnover is well defined, but there is no consensus on when employee turnover is disadvantageous for the company. The Golden Rule or ethic of reciprocity, a maxim states that either one should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself or one should not treat others in ways that one would not like to be treated. A direct, inverse relationship exists between high job satisfaction, high organizational commitment and employee turnover; the higher the job satisfaction and organizational commitment, the lower the staff turnover. Indeed job satisfaction leads to organizational commitment (Mowday et al, 1979). This paper attempts to build a model CAFE (Catastrophic, Averse, Feeble & Exemplary companies) to form of a matrix having high ethical standard in the company with two sets of companies having high or low employee turnover; and with low ethical standard in the company having two sets of companies with high or low employee turnover
