Population structure of Pacific yellowfin tuna
ENGLISH: The population structure and production of Pacific yellowfin tuna, Thunnus albacares, were examined by studying most of the basic data available on stock assessment, as well as other data, for the period 1965 to 1972. The data were obtained mainly from the Japanese longline fishery in the Pacific Ocean east of about 1200E and from the purse-seine fishery in the eastern Pacific east of about 140oW. Data from genetic studies of subpopulations were not used due to their preliminary nature.
It was concluded that the concept of "semi-independent" subpopulations proposed by Kamimura and Honma (1963) and Royce (1964) defines the population structure of Pacific yellowfin. At least three stocks (i.e. western, central and eastern), relatively independent of each other, are thought to exist, but the actual number and location of subpopulations is still unclear. Possible north-south separations, indicated to some extent by genetic studies and tagging, could be neither substantiated nor rejected on the basis of this study.
Finally, unless some major change in the fishing technology occurs, it is doubtful if any significant sustainable increase in yellowfin production from the Pacific is possible. The greatest potential for increase, if any, appears to be based on changing the size structure of yellowfin in the catch from the central Pacific. SPANISH: Se examino la estructura de la población y la producción del atún aleta amarilla del Pacifico Thunnus albacares para estudiar la mayoría de los datos básicos que se tenían sobre el avalúo de la población, como también otra información correspondiente al periodo de 1965·1972. Los datos fueron obtenidos principalmente de las pescas palangreros japonesas del Océano Pacifico al este de los 1200 E y de las pescas con redes de cerco del Pacifico oriental, al este de los 140oW. No se emplearon los datos de estudios genéticos de las subpoblaciones porque eran mas bien preliminares. Se concluyo que el concepto propuesto por Kamimura y Honma (1963) y Royce (1964) de subpoblaciones "semiindependientes" define la estructura de la población del aleta amarilla en el Pacifico. Se cree que existen por 10 menos tres existencias (e.d. la occidental, central y oriental), relativamente independientes la una de la otra, pero no se conoce con certeza cuantas subpoblaciones hay y donde se encuentran. La posible separación norte-sur, indicada, hasta cierto punto, por los análisis genéticos y del marcado, no puede ni confirmarse ni rechazarse basados en este estudio. Finalmente, a no ser que ocurra algún gran cambio en la tecnología pesquera es dudoso que sea posible obtener un aumento constante e importante en la producción del aleta amarilla del Pacifico. El potencial mayor de aumento, si es que existe alguno, parece que se basa en el cambio de la estructura de talla en la captura del aleta amarilla del Pacifico central.

A generalization of heterochromatic graphs
In 2006, Suzuki, and Akbari & Alipour independently presented a necessary and
sufficient condition for edge-colored graphs to have a heterochromatic spanning
tree, where a heterochromatic spanning tree is a spanning tree whose edges have
distinct colors. In this paper, we propose -chromatic graphs as a
generalization of heterochromatic graphs. An edge-colored graph is
-chromatic if each color appears on at most edges. We also
present a necessary and sufficient condition for edge-colored graphs to have an
-chromatic spanning forest with exactly components. Moreover, using this
criterion, we show that a -chromatic graph of order with
has an -chromatic spanning forest with exactly

Finding Exponential Product Formulas of Higher Orders
In the present article, we review a continual effort on generalization of the
Trotter formula to higher-order exponential product formulas. The exponential
product formula is a good and useful approximant, particularly because it
conserves important symmetries of the system dynamics. We focuse on two
algorithms of constructing higher-order exponential product formulas. The first
is the fractal decomposition, where we construct higher-order formulas
recursively. The second is to make use of the quantum analysis, where we
compute higher-order correction terms directly. As interludes, we also have
described the decomposition of symplectic integrators, the approximation of

Magneto-elastic coupling and competing entropy changes in substituted CoMnSi metamagnets
We use neutron diffraction, magnetometry and low temperature heat capacity to
probe giant magneto-elastic coupling in CoMnSi-based antiferromagnets and to
establish the origin of the entropy change that occurs at the metamagnetic
transition in such compounds. We find a large difference between the electronic
density of states of the antiferromagnetic and high magnetisation states. The
magnetic field-induced entropy change is composed of this contribution and a
significant counteracting lattice component, deduced from the presence of
negative magnetostriction. In calculating the electronic entropy change, we
note the importance of using an accurate model of the electronic density of

Fermi-surface topological phase transition and horizontal order-parameter nodes in CaFeAs under pressure
Iron-based compounds (IBS) display a surprising variety of superconducting
properties that seems to arise from the strong sensitivity of these systems to
tiny details of the lattice structure. In this respect, systems that become
superconducting under pressure, like CaFeAs, are of particular
interest. Here we report on the first directional point-contact
Andreev-reflection spectroscopy (PCARS) measurements on CaFeAs crystals
under quasi-hydrostatic pressure, and on the interpretation of the results
using a 3D model for Andreev reflection combined with ab-initio calculations of
the Fermi surface (within the density functional theory) and of the order
parameter symmetry (within a random-phase-approximation approach in a
ten-orbital model). The almost perfect agreement between PCARS results at
different pressures and theoretical predictions highlights the intimate
connection between the changes in the lattice structure, a topological
transition in the hole-like Fermi surface sheet, and the emergence on the same

Magnon-magnon coupling in synthetic ferrimagnets
Magnetic multilayers with interlayer exchange coupling have been widely
studied for both static and dynamic regimes. Their dynamical responses depend
on the exchange coupling strength and magnetic properties of individual layers.
Magnetic resonance spectra in such systems are conveniently discussed in terms
of coupling of acoustic and optical modes. At a certain value of applied
magnetic field, the two modes come close to being degenerate and the spectral
gap indicates the strength of mode hybridisation. In this work, we
theoretically and experimentally study the mode hybridisation of
interlayer-exchange-coupled moments with dissimilar magnetisation and thickness
of two ferromagnetic layers. In agreement with symmetry analysis for
eigenmodes, our low-symmetry multilayers exhibit sizable spectral gaps for all
experimental conditions. The spectra agree well with the predictions from the
Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation at the macrospin limit whose parameters are

Helicity conservation in inclusive nonleptonic decay B to VX: Test of long-distance final state interaction
The polarization measurement in the inclusive B decay provides us with a
simple test of how much the long-distance final-state interaction takes place
as the energy of the observed meson varies in the final state. We give the
expectation of the perturbative QCD for the energy dependence of the helicity
fractions in a semiquantitative form. Experiment will tell us for which decay

Evolution of deformations in medium-mass nuclei
Evolution of quadrupole deformations in and shell nuclei with mass
A= 1856 is studied by using deformed Skyrme Hartree-Fock (HF) model with
pairing correlations. We point out that the quadrupole deformations of the
nuclei with the isospin T=0 and T=1 show strong mass number dependence as a
clear manifestation of dynamical evolution of deformation in nuclear many-body
systems. The competition between the deformation driving particle-vibration
coupling and the closed shell structure is shown in a systematic study of the
ratios between the proton and neutron deformations in nuclei with
T=T=1. Calculated quadrupole and hexadecapole deformations are compared
with shell model results and available experimental data. A relation between
the skin thickness and the intrinsic Q moments is also discussed.Comment: 26 pages, 8figure
