Unusual formation and sub-omohyoid course of external jugular vein.

    Get PDF
Variations in the origin and termination of external jugular vein are common and are reported in the past. However, variations in the course of external jugular vein are uncommon. During routine dissection classes for medical undergraduates, we came across the unusual formation and course of right external jugular vein and absence of common facial vein, in an approximately 60-year-old male cadaver of Indian origin. External jugular vein was formed by the continuation of undivided trunk of retromandibular vein. Following its formation, it passed vertically superficial to sternocleidomastoid muscle to the lower part of occipital triangle. In the occipital triangle it pierced the investing layer of deep cervical fascia and passed deep to the inferior belly of omohyoid muscle and coursed through the subclavian triangle. Then, it terminated at the junction of subclavian vein with internal jugular vein. Facial vein joined with submental vein and finally drained into internal jugular vein. Further, the posterior auricular vein and anterior jugular veins were absent. Knowledge about the variations of the retromandibular vein, common facial vein and external jugular vein observed in this study, may be important for the surgeons, to prevent inadvertent injury and excessive bleeding during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

Integrated approach for efficient power consumption and resource allocation in MIMO-OFDMA

The growing interest towards wireless communication advancement with smart devices has provided the desired throughput of wireless communication mechanisms. But, attaining high-speed data packets amenities is the biggest issue in different multimedia applications. Recently, OFDM has come up with the useful features for wireless communication however it faces interference issues at carrier level (intercarrier interferences). To resolve these interference issues in OFDM, various existing mechanisms were utilized cyclic prefix, but it leads to redundancy in transmitted data. Also, the transmission of this redundant data can take some more power and bandwidth. All these limitations factors can be removed from a parallel cancellation mechanism. The integration of parallel cancellation and Convolution Viterbi encoding and decoding in MIMO-OFDMA will be an effective solution to have high data rate which also associations with the benefits of both the architectures of MIMO and OFDMA modulation approaches. This paper deals with this integrated mechanism for efficient resource allocation and power consumption. For performance analysis, MIMO-OFDMA system is analyzed with three different approaches likeMIMO-OFDM system without parallel cancellation (MIMO-OFDMA-WPC), MIMO-OFDMA System with parallel cancellation (MIMO-OFDMA-PC) and proposed IMO-OFDMA system with parallel cancellation and Convolution Viterbi encoding/decoding (pMIMO-OFDMA-PC &CVed) for 4x4 transmitter and receiver. Through performance analysis, it is found that the proposed system achieved better resource allocation (bandwidth) with high data rate by minimized BER rate and achieved least power consumption with least BER

Micro Expression Spotting through Appearance Based Descriptor and Distance Analysis

Micro-Expressions (MEs) are a typical kind of expressions which are subtle and short lived in nature and reveal the hidden emotion of human beings. Due to processing an entire video, the MEs recognition constitutes huge computational burden and also consumes more time. Hence, MEs spotting is required which locates the exact frames at which the movement of ME persists. Spotting is regarded as a primary step for MEs recognition. This paper proposes a new method for ME spotting which comprises three stages; pre-processing, feature extraction and discrimination. Pre-processing aligns the facial region in every frame based on three landmark points derived from three landmark regions. To do alignment, an in-plane rotation matrix is used which rotates the non-aligned coordinates into aligned coordinates. For feature extraction, two texture based descriptors are deployed; they are Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and Local Mean Binary Pattern (LMBP). Finally at discrimination stage, Feature Difference Analysis is employed through Chi-Squared Distance (CSD) and the distance of each frame is compared with a threshold to spot there frames namely Onset, Apex and Offset. Simulation done over a Standard CASME dataset and performance is verified through Feature Difference and F1-Score. The obtained results prove that the proposed method is superior than the state-of-the-art methods

Background: Breast milk contains balanced nutrients for the complete growth of body and brain of neonates and infants. Breast feeding is rich in anti-infective factors and improves immune system, thus reducing the child mortality rate. Objective of present work was to study the effect of antenatal breast milk expression at term in improving lactational performance as compared to control group. Methods: The prospective, comparative study was conducted for 2 years to observe effects of antenatal expression of breast milk on postnatal lactational performance in a tertiary care centre   in Central India.  200 Subjects after 37 weeks of pregnancy divided in two groups of 100 each 1) study group 2) control group by systematic random sampling technique. Prior examination was done to exclude any inverted or cracked nipples and appropriate treatment instituted. The women with diseased breast and conditions, high risk pregnancy, congenitally anomalous fetus and drugs affecting lactation were excluded from study. Study group women were counselled to express milk 2-3 times every day preferably during bathing. All women were followed up in hospital and postnatal lactation performance was observed in both groups. Results: The study group did not find it difficult to initiate breast feeding after vaginal or caesarean delivery  and in 78% of patients time interval from initiation of lactation to establishment of lactation was less than half hour as compared to control group (38%) P value <0.001. Statistical analysis showed significant difference in the results of those groups. Conclusions: Daily antenatal breast milk expression after 37 weeks of pregnancy significantly reduced the time for establishing full breast feeding and reduced breast feeding failures

Magnitude of Bhasmas in handling Madhumeha (Diabetes Mellitus) - A Critical Review

    Get PDF
India is being estimated with fastest growing population of Diabetes. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder which is either due to Pancreas not producing enough insulin or the cells of the body not responding to the insulin produced. Diabetes refers “To run through siphon” and Mellitus means “Honey”, Similar condition Madhumeha “Prayo Madviva Mehanti” (Honey like urine) has been explained in the Ayurvedic classics long centuries ago in an apparent way. Rasashastra emphasize the usage of various Rasoushadhis in the management of Madhumeha. Various researches conducted in last few decades on the Rasa Bhasmas and Rasayogas mentioned in literature for Madhumeha have shown phenomenal Antidiabetic property. In this article, review of therapeutic efficacy of 5 Rasa Bahasmas Viz Naga, Vanga, Yashada, Swarna Makshika, and Abhraka Bhasmas with the scientific evidence and rationality have been compiled. Target conditions choosing of these Rasa Bhasmas in Madhumeha have been discussed

The majority of the content discussing websites will grant customers to go in the privacy preferences. Our jobs are connected to works according to privacy configuration within places to waste time, recommendation systems, in addition to privacy analysis of internet images. We advise an adaptive online privacy policy conjecture system to help customers make privacy configurations intended for their images and look at social context, image content, in addition to metadata as achievable indicators of user privacy preference. The suggested plan will handle pictures of user submitted, in addition to factors that influence privacy configurations of images for example impact of social setting in addition to personal qualities and role of image content in addition to metadata. The forecasted system will offer you comprehensive structure to infer privacy preferences on foundation of information accessible for any specified user and includes two primaries building for example Adaptive Online Privacy Policy Conjecture-Social in addition to Core. Adaptive online privacy policy conjecture core will spotlight on examining of every individual user own images in addition to metadata, while adaptive online privacy policy conjecture-social will show a residential area point of view of privacy strategies for user privacy enhancement
