    Context-Preserving Two-Stage Video Domain Translation for Portrait Stylization

    Portrait stylization, which translates a real human face image into an artistically stylized image, has attracted considerable interest and many prior works have shown impressive quality in recent years. However, despite their remarkable performances in the image-level translation tasks, prior methods show unsatisfactory results when they are applied to the video domain. To address the issue, we propose a novel two-stage video translation framework with an objective function which enforces a model to generate a temporally coherent stylized video while preserving context in the source video. Furthermore, our model runs in real-time with the latency of 0.011 seconds per frame and requires only 5.6M parameters, and thus is widely applicable to practical real-world applications.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, CVPR 2023 Workshop on AI for Content Creatio

    Design of the VISTA-ITL Test Facility for an Integral Type Reactor of SMART and a Post-Test Simulation of a SBLOCA Test

    To validate the performance and safety of an integral type reactor of SMART, a thermal-hydraulic integral effect test facility, VISTA-ITL, is introduced with a discussion of its scientific design characteristics. The VISTA-ITL was used extensively to assess the safety and performance of the SMART design, especially for its passive safety system such as a passive residual heat removal system, and to validate various thermal-hydraulic analysis codes. The VISTA-ITL program includes several tests on the SBLOCA, CLOF, and PRHRS performances to support a verification of the SMART design and contribute to the SMART design licensing by providing proper test data for validating the system analysis codes. A typical scenario of SBLOCA was analyzed using the MARS-KS code to assess the thermal-hydraulic similarity between the SMART design and the VISTA-ITL facility, and a posttest simulation on a SBLOCA test for the shutdown cooling system line break has been performed with the MARS-KS code to assess its simulation capability for the SBLOCA scenario of the SMART design. The SBLOCA scenario in the SMART design was well reproduced using the VISTA-ITL facility, and the measured thermal-hydraulic data were properly simulated with the MARS-KS code

    We report here a case of streaky fat deposition in the middle layer of the left ventricular myocardium, without any underlying etiology, and this was seen on computed tomography coronary angiography. This report suggests that left ventricular middle layer fat deposition should be investigated in order to determine its etiology, the pathogenesis and the prognosis

    Leukotactin-1/CCL15-induced chemotaxis signaling through CCR1 in HOS cells

    AbstractLeukotactin-1 (Lkn-1)/CCL15 is a recently cloned CC-chemokine that binds to the CCR1 and CCR3. Although Lkn-1 has been known to function as a chemoattractant for neutrophils, monocytes and lymphocytes, its cellular mechanism remains unclear. To understand the mechanism of Lkn-1-induced chemotaxis signaling, we examined the chemotactic activities of human osteogenic sarcoma cells expressing CCR1 in response to Lkn-1 using inhibitors of signaling molecules. Inhibitors of Gi/Go protein, phospholipase C (PLC) and protein kinase Cδ (PKCδ) inhibited the chemotactic activity of Lkn-1 indicating that Lkn-1-induced chemotaxis signal is transduced through Gi/Go protein, PLC and PKCδ. The activities of PLC and PKCδ were also enhanced by Lkn-1 stimulation. Chemotactic activity of Lkn-1 was inhibited by the treatment of cycloheximide and actinomycin D suggesting that newly synthesized proteins are needed for chemotaxis. Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) inhibitor reduced chemotactic activity of Lkn-1. DNA binding activity of NF-κB was also enhanced by Lkn-1 stimulation. These results suggest that Lkn-1 transduces the signal through Gi/Go protein, PLC, PKCδ, NF-κB and newly synthesized proteins for chemotaxis

    Operation of national coordinating service for interhospital transfer from emergency departments: experience and implications from Korea

    Background Since 2014, Korea has been operating the National Emergency Medical Situation Room (NEMSR) to provide regional emergency departments (EDs) with coordination services for the interhospital transfer of critically ill patients. The present study aimed to describe the NEMSRs experience and interhospital transfer pattern from EDs nationwide, and investigate the factors related to delayed transfers or transfers that could not be arranged by the NEMSR. Methods This study was a retrospective cross-sectional analysis of the NEMSRs coordination registry from 2017 to 2019. The demographic and hospital characteristics related to emergency transfers were analyzed with hierarchical logistic models. Results The NEMSR received a total of 14,003 requests for the arrangement of the interhospital transfers of critically ill patients from 2017 to 2019. Of 10,222 requests included in the analysis, 8297 (81.17%) successful transfers were coordinated by the NEMSR. Transfers were requested mainly due to a shortage of medical staff (59.79%) and ICU beds (30.80%). Delayed transfers were significantly associated with insufficient hospital resources. The larger the bed capacity of the sending hospital, the more difficult it was to coordinate the transfer (odds ratio [OR] for transfer not arranged = 2.04; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.48–2.82, ≥ 1000 beds vs. < 300 beds) and the longer the transfer was delayed (OR for delays of more than 44 minutes = 2.08; 95% CI: 1.57–2.76, ≥ 1000 beds vs. < 300 beds). Conclusions The operation of the NEMSR has clinical importance in that it could efficiently coordinate interhospital transfers through a protocolized process and resource information system.
