Dengue cases in the De La Salle University Medical Center (DLSUMC) from January to December 2017

The type of study design used in this research is cross-sectional since it involved analysis of data from admitted patients in DLSUMC diagnosed with dengue in a specific point of time, specifically form January to December 2017. The study involved at DLSUMC patients (156 in total ) who consulted the emergency room and were subsequently confined with diagnosis of dengue. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data through frequency and percentage distribution. Results showed that majority of the admitted patients were male and from the pediatric age groups, particularly those aged 46 days, with most of the patients being diagnosed specifically with dengue with warning signs. Since most of the patients are pediatrics, specialization of attending physicians was mostly general pediatrics followed by infectious disease specialists who attended mostly to adults diagnosed with dengue with or without warning signs or with comorbidities. Management mostly consisted of complete blood count with platelet count and Dengue Duo for the diagnostics and the administration of paracetamol, omeprazole and cetirizine
