Nebraska’s Anything-but-Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act
This Article examines Nebraska’s “Uniform” Residential Landlord and Tenant Act (Nebraska’s Act or the Act), discusses recent attempts by the modern legislature to return balance to the laws governing residential tenancies, and offers guidance for continuing this effort. Part II of the Article offers an overview of landlord–tenant law and why protections are necessary in this unique consumer environment. Part III describes what went down in 1973–1974, when Nebraska’s Legislature adopted its version of the Act, and examines select provisions that were substantially and substantively modified from the Uniform Act. Finally, Part IV proposes options to obtain equilibrium and uniformity in the laws governing residential tenancies

MicroRNA regulation of natural killer cells
Natural killer (NK) cells are innate immune lymphocytes critical for host defense against viral infection and surveillance against malignant transformation. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a family of small, non-coding RNAs that regulate a wide variety of cellular processes. Recent advances have highlighted the importance of miRNA-mediated post-transcriptional regulation in NK cell development, maturation, and function. This review focuses on several facets of this regulatory mechanism in NK cells: (1) the expressed NK cell miRNA transcriptome; (2) the impact of total miRNA deficiency on NK cells; (3) the role of specific miRNAs regulating NK cell development, survival, and maturation; (4) the intrinsic role of miRNAs regulating NK cell function, including cytokine production, proliferation, and cytotoxicity; and (5) the role of NK cell miRNAs in disease. Currently our knowledge of how miRNAs regulate NK cell biology is limited, and thus we also explore key open questions in the field, as well as approaches and techniques to ascertain the role of individual miRNAs as important molecular regulators
Natural killer cell regulation by microRNAs in health and disease
Natural killer (NK) cells are innate immune lymphocytes that are critical for normal host defense against infections and mediate antitumor immune responses. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a family of small, noncoding RNAs that posttranscriptionally regulate the majority of cellular processes and pathways. Our understanding of how miRNAs regulate NK cells biology is limited, but recent studies have provided novel insight into their expression by NK cells, and how they contribute to the regulation of NK cell development, maturation, survival, and effector function. Here, we review the expression of miRNAs by NK cells, their contribution to cell intrinsic and extrinsic control of NK cell development and effector response, and their dysregulation in NK cell malignancies
Reward Scale Robustness for Proximal Policy Optimization via DreamerV3 Tricks
Most reinforcement learning methods rely heavily on dense, well-normalized
environment rewards. DreamerV3 recently introduced a model-based method with a
number of tricks that mitigate these limitations, achieving state-of-the-art on
a wide range of benchmarks with a single set of hyperparameters. This result
sparked discussion about the generality of the tricks, since they appear to be
applicable to other reinforcement learning algorithms. Our work applies
DreamerV3's tricks to PPO and is the first such empirical study outside of the
original work. Surprisingly, we find that the tricks presented do not transfer
as general improvements to PPO. We use a high quality PPO reference
implementation and present extensive ablation studies totaling over 10,000 A100
hours on the Arcade Learning Environment and the DeepMind Control Suite. Though
our experiments demonstrate that these tricks do not generally outperform PPO,
we identify cases where they succeed and offer insight into the relationship
between the implementation tricks. In particular, PPO with these tricks
performs comparably to PPO on Atari games with reward clipping and
significantly outperforms PPO without reward clipping.Comment: Accepted to NeurIPS 202
