Kepuasan Kerja di Kalangan Pengawal Keselamatan Universiti Pertanian Malaysia
The purpose of this study was to determine the level of job satisfaction among security guards of Universiti
Pertanian Malaysia and to determine predictors of job satisfaction among them. A questionnaire was used to
measure the job aspects and job satisfaction level of 96 randomly selected UPM security guards. The data were
processed using SPSS PC+. The independent variables included demographic characteristics, organizational
factors and job dimension factors. The study showed that the majority of UPM security guards were
moderately or highly satisfied with their job. The study also showed that factors such as organizational
policies, opportunities for self-development, facilities at the work place, academic qualifications and job load
were significantly related to job satisfaction level among the security guards. Organizational policy was the
most important predictor of job satisfaction (R" = 0.50, P < 0.05), followed by opportunities to develop,
facilities at the work place, academic qualifications and job load. The study also found that age, position,
wages, tenure, job itself, promotion opportunities, supervision and peers are not predictors of job satisfaction
level

Volunteerism: expanding the frontiers of youth development
The role of young volunteers in improving the quality of life of individuals and of the community is well recognized in Malaysia and other parts of the world. They are active participants in various non-governmental organizations, youth organizations, schools, colleges, universities and even homes for the elderly and orphans, as well as other social welfare centers. Volunteers act as
a resource of help and support for individuals, families, services, and institutions. Through volunteering, these young people enter into various social environments and encounter people living in different social circumstances.Through addressing the needs of communities, groups and individuals, volunteering prepares youth towards developing pro-social behaviors in their journey towards adulthood. Through encountering diverse situations involving families, individuals
develop tolerance and respect for differences. Thus, youth volunteering is one of the means to nurture the spirit of responsible citizenship. Volunteering motivates young people to continue to get involved in community-oriented volunteer activities even when they become adults. The combination of action and reflection in youth
volunteer programs increases the socializing impact of voluntary work. Interestingly, the concepts and practices of youth volunteerism are highly relevant for national stability and community betterment in Malaysia. Stability in Malaysia depends mainly on the attitudes and behavior of its people. Mutual tolerance based on ethnicity,
culture and religion and respect for human rights, coexistence, and solidarity are values and behavior patterns that could be enhanced through educating the young people on volunteerism. Thus, developing the spirit of volunteerism is a powerful means to expand the frontiers of youth development. Volunteerism has been and will always be one of the pillars for positive youth development in Malaysia and ultimately, the
prosperity of our beloved country. This inaugural paper aims to further redefine the roles of volunteerism as one of the instruments supporting positive youth development
The potential of youth workers as facilitators of values formation and development.
Youth workers everywhere are engaged in a daily revolution to facilitate change within young people, often with limited resources, support and infrastructure. They do this work through the developmental relationships that they form with their young clients. However, to achieve their goals and reap the rewards of their efforts, youth workers must be effective agents of change. The focus of this article is to further understand the notion of youth workers as change agents, in the context of developing values among the young people with whom they work. The role of values in youth work, the formation and development of values in youth, transformative learning approaches, the steps in experiential learning and youth-work pedagogies that use models of how youth learn are also discussed. With the increasing demands on youth workers to facilitate change in the lives of their young clients, these groups need professional training and education to prepare them to do the critical work of youth development
'Tawheedic' based leadership: an extension of multi linkage contingency model from the Islamic perspective based on a study of a Muslim strategic leader in Malaysia
The article provide inputs to the proposed expended model of multi linkage contingency model by Kringer and Seng [1], in highlighting the latent variables and the meaning attached to the proposed expanded contingency model of leadership based on the inner values and religious traditions from the Islamic perspective. In this article it shows that "Tawheed" is the underpinning factor that binds and infuses the inner meaning and values in Muslim leaders. The "Tawheedic Paradigm" explored in this article can be seen as the fulfillment of contract (Amanah) between God and Man, in which man as servant of God and his vicegerent on earth (Khalifah) performs righteous deeds based on Islamic teachings
Determinants of successful technology adoption among Malaysian cocoa farmers
The contribution of group dynamics is considered crucial in group development. This paper looks at the role of group dynamic factors in predicting the successful adoption of technology by Malaysian cocoa farmer clusters. A systematic collection of data and information on cocoa farmer clusters in Malaysia with parameters investigated were group process, extension agents’ coordination ability and cocoa farmer clusters and extension agents’ demographic data. Discriminant analysis of the data on cocoa farmer clusters and extension agents were undertaken to verify the differences in the group dynamic factors between successful and less successful cocoa farmer clusters. The findings reveal that the roles of participation in cocoa farmer clusters, membership attraction to cocoa farmer clusters and cohesiveness in cocoa farmer clusters are likely to have higher possibility to cocoa farmer clusters’ success. In contrast, leadership and communication in cocoa farmer clusters were more likely to have low possibility to be successful
The Influence of Religiosity, Parental and Peer Attachment on Hedonistic Behavior among Malaysian Youth
AbstractDrawing from ecological system theory, the current study addresses the connection between environment and youth development and what they actually engage in. This study examined contributors of hedonistic behavior among youth in Malaysia. A sample of 103 undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds participated in the study. Using a quantitative survey methodology, self-administered questionnaires measuring parental and peer attachment, religiosity personality and worldview were used to identify predictors of hedonistic behavior among youth.
