The Heirloom Repository: Exploring the Digital Collections from UGA Law Library

The Digital Commons team of librarians from the University of Georgia\u27s Alexander Campbell King Law Library take turns giving a show and tell of the various scholarship, events and archives series housed in their institutional repository. Examples from the repository will provide the opportunity for each speaker to share the series scope, their role in that aspect of repository, recent cleanup projects for legacy collections, and emerging considerations as the site has grown. Our library director will share the history of the repository, its scope and mission within the Law Library and School of Law, discussing and introducing team members. The Faculty Services Librarian will provide an overview of the various series related to faculty scholarship including books and analytics for showing scholarship impact. Our Foreign and International Law Librarian will present one of our most popular and longest standing original series, the LL.M. theses. Administrators of the various law school publication series (including our Intellectual Property Journal, International Law Journal, and Advocate Magazine) will discuss the benefits of housing journals using BePress and the challenges of coordinating with students. Our Information Technology Librarian will consider the future of archiving publications that were traditionally in print, as many have moved entirely online in 2020. Last but not least, our Copyright and Research Services Librarian will discuss the pros and cons of adopting a copyright policy, and our Metadata & Special Collections Librarian will share how this relates to many of our special collection series housed in the repository.
