A new subspecies of Polyommatus elena fominae
ssp. n. is described from the subalpine belt of West
Caucasia (2400 m). The new subspecies is distinct both
from nominotypical subspecies and other species of Polyommatus
(s. str.) by its gnathos arms protruding above uncus
lobes. The paper presents photographs of genitalia of a
typical series of the new subspecie
