    Muslim Gravestones in Detroit: A Study in Diversity

    Muslims in the Detroit area trace their presence in southeast Michigan back to the 1800s. They are buried in thirty-one different cemeteries or cemetery sub-sections. They come from twenty-five different countries or distinctive places with at least nine-religious or cultural sub-groups. The article examines the Muslim community through how individuals are defined on their gravestones.
