The Parkinson’s Wellness Project is an 8-part educational video series created by Samantha Stevenson, a student in Belmont University’s Doctorate Program in Occupational Therapy. Purpose: This project was created to benefit all persons with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their care partners who attend Rocksteady Boxing (RSB) in Franklin/Nashville, TN. Methodology: The student conducted research to identify the salient issues experienced by people living with PD. The issues were then synthesized into 8 separate categories including the following: facial expression, mental health, sexual health, self-care, sleep, diet and nutrition, meditation, and postural alignment. Experts in the healthcare field produced specialized content that was used to create short, 10–20-minute videos. A post survey was given to assess the efficacy of the videos. Results: The following question was asked after each participant watched an educational video: “How much did you learn after watching the educational video?” A 5-point Likert scale was used to assess the responses, ranging from nothing to a great deal. After analysis, n=33, 12 participants responded, “a great deal”, 10 responded, “a lot”, 10 responded, “a moderate amount”, and 1 responded, “nothing.” Conclusion: The data expresses that the efficacy of the video series was indeed positive, and that the majority of the individuals (96.7%) agreed that they had learned at least a moderate amount of information. Education was given to the staff regarding future video topics to continue to progress this project
