CTD/STD measurements off the NW African coast near Cabo Conveiro during JOINT-I : R/V GILLISS cruise GS7401 Feb. 9-Apr. 23, 1974
Hydrographic measurements, made with CTD and STD probes in the
vicinity of Cabo Corveiro, NW Africa during the JOINT-I experiment in
Spring 1974, are presented. Computer plots of the vertical profiles of
temperature, salinity, and sigma-t are shown for each hydrographic station.
Associated values of temperature, salinity, sigma-t, specific volume
anomaly, dynamic height anomaly, and potential energy are tabulated at
selected depth intervals. Meteorological and location information for
each station is also given
Corrente do Brasil: estrutura térmica entre 19º e 25ºS e circulação geostrófica
In April 1982, an océanographie investigation was conducted off the Brazilian coast in order to obtain the spatial characteristics of the thermal structure and to locate the Brazil Current flow both north and south of the seamount chain at 20º30'S. Dining the survey, remote sensing satellite data were also obtained on several occasions to assist in the delineation of the surface thermal structure. A 23ºC thermostad was observed along most sections. Along sections with stronger baroclinic signatures, such as the one in Cabo Frio, the thermostad seems to be pinched off somewhat similar to the pinching off the 18ºC water in the Gulf Stream North wall. The current structure and volume transports, relative to the 500 dbar isobaric surface, were calculated using both hydrographie station data and the closely spaced XBT measurements. A comparison of these results, for the data observed along the section of Cabo Frio, indicates that some details of the geostrophic currents are lost when the hydrographie data are used; the corresponding volume transports agree within 17% (33 Sv using hydrographie data against 2.8 Sv using XBT data). A volume transport budget, obtained through the transport computation along all sections between 19º and 22ºS, indicates that the Brazil Current appears to flow through the passage between the most inshore banks and not to the east. The net volume transport (2.9 Sv) is in close agreement with the Cabo Frio section volume transport, where the total flow of the Brazil Current was supposedly bracketed by the station sampling.
Search for bottom squarks in pbarp collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV
We report on a search for bottom squarks produced in pbarp collisions at
sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV using the D0 detector at Fermilab. Bottom squarks are assumed
to be produced in pairs and to decay to the lightest supersymmetric particle
(LSP) and a b quark with branching fraction of 100%. The LSP is assumed to be
the lightest neutralino and stable. We set limits on the production cross
section as a function of bottom squark mass and LSP mass.Comment: 5 pages, Latex. submitted 3-12-1999 to PRD - Rapid Communicatio
Differential Production Cross Section of Z Bosons as a Function of Transverse Momentum at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV
We present a measurement of the transverse momentum distribution of Z bosons
produced in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV using data collected by the D0
experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider during 1994--1996. We find good
agreement between our data and a current resummation calculation. We also use
our data to extract values of the non-perturbative parameters for a particular
version of the resummation formalism, obtaining significantly more precise
values than previous determinations.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev. Letters v2 has margin

Probing BFKL Dynamics in the Dijet Cross Section at Large Rapidity Intervals in ppbar Collisions at sqrt{s}=1800 and 630 GeV
Inclusive dijet production at large pseudorapidity intervals (delta_eta)
between the two jets has been suggested as a regime for observing BFKL
dynamics. We have measured the dijet cross section for large delta_eta in ppbar
collisions at sqrt{s}=1800 and 630 GeV using the DO detector. The partonic
cross section increases strongly with the size of delta_eta. The observed
growth is even stronger than expected on the basis of BFKL resummation in the
leading logarithmic approximation. The growth of the partonic cross section can
be accommodated with an effective BFKL intercept of
a_{BFKL}(20GeV)=1.65+/-0.07.Comment: Published in Physical Review Letter
Search for Electroweak Production of Single Top Quarks in ppbar Collisions
We present a search for electroweak production of single top quarks in the
electron+jets and muon+jets decay channels. The measurements use ~90 pb^-1 of
data from Run 1 of the Fermilab Tevatron collider, collected at 1.8 TeV with
the DZero detector between 1992 and 1995. We use events that include a tagging
muon, implying the presence of a b jet, to set an upper limit at the 95%
confidence level on the cross section for the s-channel process ppbar->tb+X of
39 pb. The upper limit for the t-channel process ppbar->tqb+X is 58 pb.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures. This is the published versio
Search for Squarks and Gluinos in Events Containing Jets and a Large Imbalance in Transverse Energy
Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 79 pb-1, D0 has
searched for events containing multiple jets and large missing transverse
energy in pbar-p collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron
collider. Observing no significant excess beyond what is expected from the
standard model, we set limits on the masses of squarks and gluinos and on the
model parameters m_0 and m_1/2, in the framework of the minimal low-energy
supergravity models of supersymmetry. For tan(beta) = 2 and A_0 = 0, with mu <
0, we exclude all models with m_squark < 250 GeV/c^2. For models with equal
squark and gluino masses, we exclude m < 260 GeV/c^2.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, Submitted to PRL, Fixed typo on page bottom of

Search for Second Generation Leptoquark Pairs in pbar-p Collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV
We have searched for second generation leptoquark (LQ) pairs in the
\mu\mu+jets channel using 94+-5 pb^{-1} of pbar-p collider data collected by
the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron during 1993-1996. No evidence for a
signal is observed. These results are combined with those from the \mu\nu+jets
and \nu\nu+jets channels to obtain 95% confidence level (C.L.) upper limits on
the LQ pair production cross section as a function of mass and $beta, the
branching fraction of a LQ decay into a charged lepton and a quark. Lower
limits of 200(180) GeV/c^2 for \beta=1(1/2) are set at the 95% C.L. on the mass
of scalar LQ. Mass limits are also set on vector leptoquarks as a function of
\beta.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures. Submitted to Phys. Rev. Let
